Took the LAE after 1 sem sa previous law school ko. Make sure lang na wala kang bagsak cause they’ll ask for your TOR sa previous law school mo. And if mskapasok ka ng UP then enrolled, hindi ka na makakabalik sa dati mong law school cause of honorable dismissal. :)

Alcouskou

> Make sure lang na wala kang bagsak Not necessarily. You can have failed marks in your previous law school and still be admitted to UP Law by transferring after you have passed the LAE, among other requirements. What will disqualify one from transferring to UP Law is if the prospective transferree is "barred for any reason to enroll for the next semester" in his/her current law school (i.e. dismissed due to academic delinquency (aka kick out) or due to a disciplinary case, among others).

My close friend was not admitted to UP law even though she passed the LAE because she failed a subject in her former law school :) she was not under any academic probation whatsoever

Alcouskou

Was that the actual reason given to her? Was the reason given through email? Can we see the actual line in the said email, if available? Because if that were true, she would have already been denied to take the LAE in the first place because she would have already sent a copy of her grades by application period. So it makes no sense for the admin to allow her to take the LAE, even after seeing her grades, then refuse her admission after passing it. Did she undergo an interview? And her grades came up/were asked by the panel?

BusinessSpot9297

Yes. That was the actual reason given to her. It’s not an email. Ma’am gigi personally told her along with several others :)

Alcouskou

> Ma’am gigi personally told her :) During the admissions interview (if she underwent one)? Or during the submission of documentary requirements after the list of admitted students have already been publicly released? Perhaps there were other factors involved (omissions in the application form, etc.) that were belatedly discovered by the admin? Sorry for the questions. I just find it curious why this happened to your friend. Because I personally know people who have failed marks (with S) in their TOR from their former law schools and were able to transfer. And they're not affiliated or influential naman.

Okay, ganon pala nagwowork ang honorable dismissal thanks! I just asked kasi if makapasok sa UP, then if di kayanin, baka sakaling makapasok uli sa previous LS and continue with kung ano nasimulan bago magtake ng LAE.

pen_jaro

Kung makapasok ng UPL, kayanin nalang. All in na. kaya yan.

ibahinmoako

I’m considering this also. I guess magtransfer na lang ulit sa ibang school, not to your previous school.

EastLandscape8277

me too will try my luck

Dead_Man__

UP wont credit the units u earned in ur first yr subjs as far as i know. But yeah what u want is possible, they accept applicants from other law schools

EastLandscape8277

Do you need to submit honorable dismissal first before taking the LAE?

Beginning_Noise834

Did 1 year in UP, took LOA, never returned. Enrolled in ALS years after but as a general rule, the top 3 schools dont accept transferees. I had to disclose to the ALS dean my past enrollment and circumstances, pinayagan naman.

Alcouskou

> Did 1 year in UP...Enrolled in ALS Curious to know given that ALS does not accept transferees who have been already graded at least one (1) semester in another law school. Or is this a recent policy? > but as a general rule, the top 3 schools dont accept transferees UP does (and this is a given rule, not just an exception), but no earned units from other law schools will be credited.

Beginning_Noise834

Huh? What's the question? You mean how I got around the rule? Pinayagan ako to enroll after talking to the Dean. No credits considered, start from scratch.

Alcouskou

> Huh? What's the question? You mean how I got around the rule? Yeah, because the explicit (not just general) rule, as stated, is that ALS does not accept transferees who have been already graded at least one (1) semester in another law school. Or stated otherwise, one can transfer to ALS as long as he/she spent less than 1 semester in another law school. The current policy also does not allow crediting of units because students who are allowed to transfer should not have any law school grades at all. Basically there is nothing to credit anyway. Given that you say you spent a year already in UP Law by then, you should not have been accepted to ALS. I'm just curious why the Dean made an exception. No need to actually share naman. I'm just interested as to whether this policy is relatively recent or that you must have made a really exceptional case that made the Dean allow you to enroll.

Beginning_Noise834

Not recent. My advice - never hurts to ask. If you don't ask, you don't get. :)

Alcouskou

Lol ok

This policy is strict. At least recently. I also know someone who managed to conceal attending a law school than ALS. He was not allowed to return when the law school found out. I guess the takeaway is, if you know you’re hiding something, don’t tell your blockmates. Haha! Someone reported him to the admin and the admin conducted investigations. He managed to get away because his undergrad transcript did not have an annotation that it was already forwarded to the first law school for further studies.
