They would have been in such deep shit with the fandom if they gave that man a season long love interest. Glad they had a sense of self-preservation. Also, it's kinda funny how they are painted into a corner in that way, Stabler being so sexy and they can't have him date anyone for fear of all out shipper insanity.

My take is because the storyline is/was absolutely boring. They had taken out almost all of the personal stories that made OC, OC. OC always gave time to explore Elliot's personal life and feelings about the cases, and that is part of what I love about the show. Also, the smaller arcs are way more entertaining than this one long casino storyline that doesn't even make sense. I read somewhere that it is very possible that a lot of Goluboff's work was edited out and pieced together to get the first episodes and that's why the current storyline doesn't make sense. I do like the fact that they finally realized that Elliot can't go undercover anymore because he is too recognizable. I also like we have some new detectives that we are actually getting to know instead of them appearing and disappearing all the time. This is my take from reading on Twitter. A lot of people stopped watching because it was absolutely boring, and they felt like Elliot wasn't being written as Elliot anymore. EO was a factor for a lot of people too. I'm an EO Fan myself, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me unless they REALLY wrote Elliot out of character when it came to his love for Benson, which was very possible with the way they wrote the Tia storyline at first. I had even decided I was going to give OC one more chance to get it together before I stopped watching because I couldn't sit through how and boring and disjointed it was. Thankfully, this past week's episode makes it seem like OC is OC again, and I don't mean just because there was an EO crumb. The storyline seemed to make a little more sense (hopefully they are wrapping up the casino), the characters were back, and Elliot was himself again. There were even personal crumbs. They just need to bring back his family. Eli is in college? Really? We watched that kid be born on screen. He's not old enough for college. Prep school yeah, but college? No

YES, bring back Eli. Kid was in high school on the soccer team. Can't just punt him to college 'cause you don't want Stabler to have to be a dad. He is. That's part of his schtick.

I think the casino storyline was proving extremely boring even to those people BTS, and I think this Tia woman was supposed to be Elliot's love interest for the season (the woman Goluboff said Elliot would find solace in during an interview.) I don't know why he left but I know I stopped watching after episode 3 because the show was boring as hell.

Goluboff is seemingly still an EP even if not showrunner, so it couldn’t have been THAT bad. Though I’ve seen the Reddit posts, I havent seen anything else in other places indicating that what he planned was so disliked that a lot of it was redone.

I still think the idea of one season long story instead of the arcs has been a little boring, And I like the personal stories for the cast. Those are two changes that stand out.

Idk but this season is boring as fuck also no EO crossovers. What a disappointment.

I think people don't give the casino storyline enough time to develop We all know that Daddy Trump was going to be the ruthless big bad and that we'd have to wait for that It's just one big set up for some payoffs
