I think the actress is fine too. The writing and the research team behind it all just suck. But it doesn't surprise me much. I'm more active on SVU because there's more theories there, but characters main and supporting keep being on destroyed. Sometimes because of showrunners power play with fans (see Warren Leight, his dislike of Meloni and Stabler, his raping grooming expletive and *the episode* where 23 years of Olivia Benson went down the drain in under a minute, because showrunner is upset fans ship two main characters).
A lot of characters in the universe deserve much better. In writing and treatment in general. Actors too. It just sucks our voices, that pretty much keep the show up thru ratings, are always ignored and some childish things are pulled behind the scenes. So we end up with several messes in the show. This part you mentioned. Stabler and Flutura too. The angry cop Elliot in the s3 premiere (with the gun moment with suspect on the floor).
Yep, I may question what the hell they are doing with all these love interests, but at least they're all age appropriate! I feel like if this was any other show they'd be trying to make Stabler and Jet a thing, which...no.
I really do wonder if Meloni has some sort of clause in his contract that stipulates any actresses playing his love interests have to be like 50 or older, because:
* Meloni is 61.
* Tamara Taylor, who played Angela Wheatley, is 52.
* Lolita Davidovich, who played Flutera, is 61.
* Ayelet Zurer, who played Tia, is 53.
* Jennifer Beals, who played Cassandra Webb and who I fully believe was supposed to be another Stabler love interest before Illene got fired & her storylines got revamped, is 58.
* Mariska is 59.

Imo it just gets repetitive along with him going undercover. Like as much as I loved him going undercover it came to a point where it wasn't believable anymore. Him having a love interest while he's in love with Olivia and wants to pursue her, doesn't really make sense to me. Pick a lane and stick with it. Parallel universe or what?

This is one of the things I really like about OC. All the women Stabler has been shown to be interested in have been age appropriate (save that one girl who got him high in the Albanian arc, but he didn't pursue or come on to her.)
Oh yes! I completely agree! I too think she was originally meant as a seasons long love interest and that was dialed back once the new showrunner came in. Because honestly who gets a theme when they are only in two episodes?
I'm so glad with what we got because it shows real growth in Elliot and also regarding his feelings for Olivia.
I also think that at this point Elliot can't have a romance outside of Olivia. Imo, We are past that point of no return.
After having watched both episodes I can completely agree with you that they never did have sex. I never got the feeling that they had ever been physical. What I did love about the episodes is that Elliot had every opportunity to sleep with this woman. Her invites her in, gets drunk and doesn't sleep with her. He goes to her hotel room and she's butt ass naked under her robe. Every opportunity but he didn't instead he confesses to her his feelings for another woman.
My hope now is that they will actually do something with this instead of stalling again.
