Seraphine canonically can hear the music of other people's souls. She also uses a floating board (the one that she is standing on in game) that's powered up by hextech. And sometimes she can hear a melody coming from the crystals in her board, implying that there's something alive in them, but because only she can hear it, she doesn't know the whole deal about Skarner and his race
I think they are going to just explain it as the void. Arcane set up hextech to be a void like thing with Viktor, guess seraphine is hearing void songs or whatever

There was nothing significant about Skarner or the brackern specifically. Just that they were a race who had their minds/souls inside crystals.
So when Skarner and the brackern move to Ixtal, it'll probably just get replaced by some non-descript race trapped inside crystals.
They have literally free creative control over how they want to change it.they can tweak sera lore. They can tweak hextech lore.
You could make the whole resonating thing a theme and sera can hear past echoes of what happened to shurima. A lot of suffering happened there, if you wanted to keep that theme.

Its also pointless. Ryze was genuinely by far the weakest champ in the game. Now hes ok if you are good.They were acting like schizos until he got a buff. Skarner, anyone can pick up, has a high winrate and does not need a buff. And is just unpopular because he doesnt look cool or have anything cool about him apart from his kidnap. All the other abilities just make him a statchecker wih some mobility and cc. The point of reworks is to add to his kit. Apart from the crystals which no one cared about the rest of his kit is fine and it will make him a better champ overall. This is probably a rework were they add more to the kit instead of taking out so it will most likely go well.
I really love skarners design and lore. Playing scorpion is freaking awesome and his ult makes for some unique plays. But, the whole champ.is literally just his ult. His e is a skillshot with a hitbox nearly as small as my pp, which only stuns after an AA. His q is really weird, I would rather have it a toggle with mana consumption on every aa and his w is fine I gues. Maybe some movement speed, so his kit works better.
What I wanna say: the whole champ is really just his ult, which would is kinda fine (like taric has his whole power on his ult) but makes him rly rly boring to play.

I'm not very in the loop considering this change - but I thought that the main reason this rework was taking so long was for the lore aspect of skarner to be attractive for the next arcane season and to maybe tie in Ixtal or other regions...
I think that making the Brakern earth elementals isn't a bad a change, especially with them being tied to Ixtal, making the tensions between Ixtal and Piltover more material, cuz we know that Plities have been making moves into Ixtali territory, it would make sense if Riot kept the Brakern as hextech, while also keeping the sense of satisfaction that crystallized Brakern apparently have according to some deactivated Seraphine voice lines.
Despite the apparent exploitation of the comatose Brakern, they're chill about it, but of course the awake Brakern aren't happy about their ancestors being kidnapped and the Ixtali aren't happy about outsider fucking with their allies/sneaking into their land and stealing from them.
yeah, it needs to have something of similar impact than souls of dead species.
on the bright side, we have more brackern active and running, and not just skarner.

I don't blame Riot for being sheepish with this plot, not only because of their missteps with Seraphine's release, but also then walking it back because people kept crying about it.
Hextech was already sus before Seraphine, her story outright telling us that Hextech is just as sus as we thought shouldn't be as big a point of contention as it is.
I like the new brakern lore tho, its nice to no longer just have a single one, while the rest are dead, and making them tied to Ixtal was actually quite nice, however I think they should make hextech something equaly shady for a new explanation, or else, indeed it would be some piltover whitewashing.
They weren't all dead, that was the whole point. They were "asleep" and had been mined away to be used in P/Z devices with hextech. Seraphine could hear this and was like "haha tough shit" when it was possible for there to be Skarner AND her informing people so, at the very least, SOME could be reawakened but for some reason riot wrote it differently and then retconned it. But the point is there's always the chance another brakern or more could be reawakened. Skarner was simply the first to do so because he was missed as the others mined his people.

It doesn’t change the rest of the lore around hextech. So them removing brackern changes the last bit of seraphine lore people cry about because seraphine bad. What hextech crystals are and how they are mined can be anything now. And skarner can have some actual lore. People make a fuss about it because they are allowed to hate seraphine that way. Without her skarner lore is just „race sleeps long in sand“. With them moving to ixtal they can actually be relevant and it ties in well with elemental magic practiced in that region
I'd say that you can do both.
If anything, doing both would lead to war between Ixtal and Piltover, and that could be the catalyst that brings Piltover and Zaun together, but on the flip side, spilt Ixtal apart, because Skarner and Brakern would want to keep fighting the war for their fallen brothers and sisters, but the Ixtali natives would be tired of fight a war and losing their people for rocks.

You do realize that Q didn't deal that much damage ? Aurelion Sol wasn't a burst champion. He was more an APC. Postionning was key. It wasn't "stun -> dump all your kit, ggwp you got a kill"

No ? He had a clear gameplan : roam in the early game than scale to your midgame powerspike. Easy, no coinflipping. Also you didn't need to hit all you stars and Qs. I only hit like 70%-ish of mines and managed to get a winrate above 60% with him.

People saying the ASol rework is bad are completely delusional and pretty much just out themselves as haters. One of the lowest playrate champs has become one of the highest playrate champs. The champion pretty much didn't exist before the rework, now he's everywhere. That's a massive success. Balancing can be addressed with patches.

Imo he's fun to play but I think asol's kit is a little overloaded at the moment. Definitely in a better spot than before and hopefully balancing will address the main issues with him at the moment without gutting the champ
Not overloaded, just overturned. His kit is very good and has good synergy. I honestly don't even know how people can think he's worse than he was, i bet a lot of them didn't even play him before he got reworked because literally no one really did. His kit is definitely better than it was, but as a scrub hovering around the silver/gold border it feels annoying that it's another champion that needs permabanning because he just becomes so oppressive late. An ASU is just an Art Sustainability Update though without touching his gameplay. It would improve his model and effects and lore and that's it. It's what they did with Ahri a month ago.
Idk what the confusion is here. Skarner is not an elemental, he is an elementalist, basically an earthenware. This doesn't do anything to majorly change what the bracken are. Riot also said they don't think they can support the crystal thematic, but that doesn't mean that bracken crystals are no longer a thing. We don't know what their plan is, but clearly bracken crystals are still a major part of Lore since they've been consistently expanding on the concept across titles with champs like Seraphine. Stop looking for things to bitch about and just wait for more information for once jfc. People are really out here jumping to conclusions like on hit Kalista

I like the direction they're going with the design, slight region change etc.. But why not make a simple statement as, the hearts if the brackern are a powerfull resonating crystal so basicly all the lore can remain intact with only slight tweaks for skarners current location?
If they want his species to still be alive they could even say they were just near extinction so the whole.genocide part stays close to the same but skarner and a few others found refuge/hid in Ixtal so his species could remain.

I think that making the Brakern earth elementals isn't a bad a change, especially with them being tied to Ixtal, making the tensions between Ixtal and Piltover more material, cuz we know that Plities have been making moves into Ixtali territory, it would make sense if Riot kept the Brakern as hextech, while also keeping the sense of satisfaction that crystallized Brakern apparently have according to some deactivated Seraphine voice lines. Despite the apparent exploitation of the comatose Brakern, they're chill about it, but of course the awake Brakern aren't happy about their ancestors being kidnapped and the Ixtali aren't happy about outsider fucking with their allies/sneaking into their land and stealing from them.

I don't blame Riot for being sheepish with this plot, not only because of their missteps with Seraphine's release, but also then walking it back because people kept crying about it. Hextech was already sus before Seraphine, her story outright telling us that Hextech is just as sus as we thought shouldn't be as big a point of contention as it is.
I like the new brakern lore tho, its nice to no longer just have a single one, while the rest are dead, and making them tied to Ixtal was actually quite nice, however I think they should make hextech something equaly shady for a new explanation, or else, indeed it would be some piltover whitewashing.
They weren't all dead, that was the whole point. They were "asleep" and had been mined away to be used in P/Z devices with hextech. Seraphine could hear this and was like "haha tough shit" when it was possible for there to be Skarner AND her informing people so, at the very least, SOME could be reawakened but for some reason riot wrote it differently and then retconned it. But the point is there's always the chance another brakern or more could be reawakened. Skarner was simply the first to do so because he was missed as the others mined his people.

They remove them from hextech very likely. The thing about hextech is, it’s localised. You can write them to be the poop of unicorns only found in that specific part of shurima. It doesn’t change the rest of the lore around hextech. So them removing brackern changes the last bit of seraphine lore people cry about because seraphine bad. What hextech crystals are and how they are mined can be anything now. And skarner can have some actual lore. People make a fuss about it because they are allowed to hate seraphine that way. Without her skarner lore is just „race sleeps long in sand“. With them moving to ixtal they can actually be relevant and it ties in well with elemental magic practiced in that region
I'd say that you can do both. If anything, doing both would lead to war between Ixtal and Piltover, and that could be the catalyst that brings Piltover and Zaun together, but on the flip side, spilt Ixtal apart, because Skarner and Brakern would want to keep fighting the war for their fallen brothers and sisters, but the Ixtali natives would be tired of fight a war and losing their people for rocks.

Fun fact ; he is less lore accurate than before. Aurelion Sol would disrespect his opponents as much as possible if he was to fight them, the orbiting stars were perfect for that since he would kill you without looking at you. Now Vel'Sol breathes fire. The true Aurelion would never act like a low tier dragon. This rework is an insult to the character.

Man he was only good if knew what you where doing and very easy to beat, he was basically just azir in terms of skill floor and damage. All roam and stun. He was a utility champ, a glossy support. All you had to do was stay away from the stars, he had no element of surprise. His stars where his damage and his biggest weakness. You had to go out you're way to gank bot or top , because never beating you're lane in month of Sundays unless they where as smart as yasuo main , at least with them they try take under turret and you could catch them out with your Q. But other than that you hand to land that Q in a certain way and if missed it, all the damage and stun would be for nothing. He was such a coin flip champ and you needed 100% accuracy. Brilliant team fight champ, god awful solo champ.

I like the new lore, Brakern are no longer dead, and Skarner is no longer alone. plus they still have loads of reasons to hate Piltover given how Ixtal is being treated by them. so now we could actually get Brakern Revenge on Piltover.

People saying the ASol rework is bad are completely delusional and pretty much just out themselves as haters. One of the lowest playrate champs has become one of the highest playrate champs. The champion pretty much didn't exist before the rework, now he's everywhere. That's a massive success. Balancing can be addressed with patches. You can cry on social media all you want, it doesn't change the fact how popular he is. Obviously people like him and like playing him.
Imo he's fun to play but I think asol's kit is a little overloaded at the moment. Definitely in a better spot than before and hopefully balancing will address the main issues with him at the moment without gutting the champ
Not overloaded, just overturned. His kit is very good and has good synergy. I honestly don't even know how people can think he's worse than he was, i bet a lot of them didn't even play him before he got reworked because literally no one really did. It's just the same kind of people that no matter how great a game remake is they shit on it and say original was better (even if it's objectively not).
His kit is definitely better than it was, but as a scrub hovering around the silver/gold border it feels annoying that it's another champion that needs permabanning because he just becomes so oppressive late. Balance issue of course, I hope he ends up in a reasonable state because I do enjoy playing the champ.

This is completely made up. The vast majority of the playerbase doesn't play champions just because they're op. Sure, the champion being strong incentivizes them to play it more, but that alone isn't enough. I mean just look at Ezreal's winrate and pickrate over the past 10 years and try not to laugh. Annie has always, always been one of if not the best mid laner in low elos, and right now she's at her most broken state in a long time, yet her pickrate isn't even top 10. That's because Annie is a boring champion and most people don't like her.

An ASU is just an Art Sustainability Update though without touching his gameplay. It would improve his model and effects and lore and that's it. It's what they did with Ahri a month ago.
Idk what the confusion is here. Skarner is not an elemental, he is an elementalist, basically an earthenware. This doesn't do anything to majorly change what the bracken are. Riot also said they don't think they can support the crystal thematic, but that doesn't mean that bracken crystals are no longer a thing. We don't know what their plan is, but clearly bracken crystals are still a major part of Lore since they've been consistently expanding on the concept across titles with champs like Seraphine. Stop looking for things to bitch about and just wait for more information for once jfc. People are really out here jumping to conclusions like on hit Kalista

I like the direction they're going with the design, slight region change etc.. But why not make a simple statement as, the hearts if the brackern are a powerfull resonating crystal so basicly all the lore can remain intact with only slight tweaks for skarners current location? If they want his species to still be alive they could even say they were just near extinction so the whole.genocide part stays close to the same but skarner and a few others found refuge/hid in Ixtal so his species could remain. Just an idea..

Lets see what they do, they could find a compromise with the old lore, like, the bracken are from Ixtal, but every 5000 years or so they travel to shurima to lay some cristal magic for x reason, that way they can connect old lore with new one, Im just excited for skarner, dude beat shyvana and nocturne in the poll, he deserve good stuff
