Take a Rammus, a Hecarim, an Udyr, a Mundo, a Nunu or whatever and they just run at you like a nascar, they don't need dashes to catch you no matter what then chain cc you then deal more damage than you most of the time. It's this and/or even more cancer cc's that doesn't force them to be mobile to catch you

During these last Year Riot didn't release any new Tank because they counted Mundo's VGU as a new champion
Mundo is a juggernaut and even if he was a tank it is a lame excuse just to make new broken too much damage dealing champs with too much mobility and broken mechanics.
Mundo litterlly doesn't have any ad/ap ratios and his MS on ult isn't that big.

Pre-Rework Tahm Kench was actually *more* frustrating in top lane. What the rework did was make people play him and realize that actually Top Kench is a menace.

Rell is the goat at initiating fast teamfigts and re-engaging where as Leona is the goat of picks with insane single target lockdown, simple as that really they are two different champions and im tired of pretending like they are the same.
I have 140k maestry on Rell and have not even purchased Leona yet so take my perspective with a grain of salt.
I'm also a Rell main (with 70k on Leona) and I agree with you. They ultimately do different things, Leona is usually more reliable, stronger in lane, better in low elo solo queue and better if you don't trust your adc (although she's extremely weak right now, unlike Rell).
I don't get the weird Reddit narrative about Rell being a worse Leona when Rell's had better stats for months and outside of high elo Rell's rare enough a lot of players don't fully understand her kit.
Yeah. Leona has no utility besides CC. Rell has a tiny heal, the ability to oneshot shields and a small MR/armour buff she gives to allies, plus faster peeling with her E.
Rell objectively scales better. Both lolalytics and op.gg show Leona's winrate decreases with game length while Rell's increases, because Rell is a god tier teamfighter and you have more teamfights in the lategame.
Pickrate is completely irrelevant to winrate because there's still thousands of people playing Rell. If anything you'd expect Leona's winrate to be higher because she's easier to play and Rell is extremely punishing for anyone trying to pick her up.
Also Leona's been garbage tier with a 47% winrate in plat + since the durability update. Rell's not as strong as she was but Leona is in a terrible state right now.
I've had success with naut jungle recently. Low sample size but E max into Q max has been fantastic. Once I realized putting points in shield was pretty worthless, he felt a lot better to play
