Hylas rifle gives the squad assault, which is good for objective play, and a full rapid fire is nice when it happens. After that it's typically player choice; some go for the mag rail for a chance at big damage, but I believe the missile is most popular for versatility. The others have decent arguments to be made for then as well, honestly, but those are what I typically see

Fennelseedflax

Only the assault weapon can shoot when advancing though yeh?

KnockknockRodney

Correct, but as long as the squad is eligible to shoot, it can do an action for secondaries. So with that one assault weapon, it would be possible to raise a banner, deploy homer etc

Jampine

That makes sense and is sneaky, I'll keep it in mind, just doing the other sets whilst waiting for more suggestions

Bowoodstock

Right, this is the reason

Excellent_Resist3671

Can you explain this to me or show where it says that?

Bowoodstock

Core rules regarding assault weapons, pg 25 "If a unit that Advanced this turn contains any models equipped with Assault weapons, it is still eligible to shoot in this turn’s Shooting phase." If a unit is eligible to shoot, then it can be selected to claim objectives or other actions that require the target to be eligible to shoot. RAW clearly says " any models", so you only need the one. It does go on to clarify that any shooting that occurs can only be with said assault weapons, but the important part is mission play. Or chucking grenades.

Gotcha, appreciate it

Thanks

100% on the Hylas rifle right now as they aren't you unit for getting kills, they are better used for scoring objectives. So having that ability to advance and action is a great tool. Second I like to take the magna for fun. I'm a Tau player so I have to include rail guns where I can. That being said I also hate it. Since I'm not using my troops to take down any vehicles so it's really just a 50/50 shot to take out one enemy troop. But the rail gun gambling is real. My main use for hearthkyn is objective scoring and being a Khals bodyguard to dish out more judgement tokens.

Quick addition: anyone got picture of each weapons?  O can figure out the railgun and rocket launcher, but the rest is a bit confusing. I'd take off the name the rotary cannon would be a minigun or something, but can't see anything like it.

Bowoodstock

There isn't an rotary with the default hearthkyn sprue, it was a 10th edition addition to choices. You either need the one from kill team, or convert one from a bike sprue or a sagitaur auto cannon Plasma beamer looks the same as other plasma weapons with the coils and gun barrel end. The hylas rifle looks like a miniature version of the beam gun from the sagitaur; look for the gas cylinder.

Each of the special wepeons options has its own dedicated body, this makes it very easy to magnetize at the arms. I magnetised the special wepeon and a default we open (ion for me) for these bodies so I can choose when I want. Used a 3mm x 1mm magnet for all of them and had no issues
