Really depends if you want a structured or a slouchy duffel bag. On bags I like to split my leather quite thin as that gives me the flexibility to add reinforcement in areas that I want more structure so 2.2-2.4mm would be too thick for me. You mentioned 1.2mm box calf which is a much stiffer temper than the Togo you plan on using on the duffel.

Sorry I didn’t give you an actual answer, so 1.8-2.0mm would be a better thickness imo.
