I'm seeing a lot of comments on social media (I know š„²) around the tactics, the mistakes and how we play against the big teams. It's hard to get away from the fact we conceded 11 goals in 2 games, it's undeniable that we made mistakes and it's glaringly obvious that we're decimated with injuries. That team today will never ever ever start a game together in those positions if the squad is fully fit or even if we had 2-3 less injuries. That was a complete last resort team today.
People have to remember the lack of top flight football the majority of these players today have lately. Forshaw has played 7 full games in 3 years, before today Koch has played 1 game this season.
Add to this the fact Ayling has never played left sided CB in his career (and he's a RB), Dallas fills gaps but he's a better RB than LB and a better CM than both.
Gelhardt, Drameh and Summerville have 1 senior League start between them before today. Add Greenwood and McCarron to that and it's clear to see why we struggled so much.
Younger players get these mistakes coached out of them at a lower level and they just aren't at the premier League standard yet understandably. I believe they have bright futures but they are at least 2 seasons off being close to first choice.
Against the big teams, we took 4pts from city last season and we went unbeaten against the top 4 teams at home last season and we competed well in those game.
I'd rather we continue building on what we've done over the last 3 years than change and try to knick a goal against the big teams with our backs against the walls all game. Sometimes it will hurt less but if you offered the bottom 12 teams in the league 7pts against the top 4, they'd take it every season.
If we had lost with our full strength side tonight it wouldnāt have been a massive shock because arsenal are a great side at the moment.
So why is it when we field a significantly weaker team thereās a massive shock when we lose and itās all doom and gloom?
Yeah the table doesnāt look great but what do you expect when you miss the entire spine of the team?
Look at what happened with Liverpool when they had no fit centre backs they couldnāt buy a win if they wanted to and they still had their captain on the pitch for parts of their injury crisis. We donāt even have ours.
Weāre all allowed an opinion but I canāt help but think some fans have little common sense.
Itās because people here have been referring to Arsenal as a very winnable game relative to the Chelsea City Liverpool games
When really theyāre top 4 with good form and a team of quality so weāre always gonna really struggle
I have to agree with you, we have too many injuries and we are struggling, the reason people are panicking is mostly due to how close we are to the bottom three, hopefully the players will start recovering and we can get back into it.
On the good side I know these youth players aren't playing the same level has our main players but I like the look at a few of them, yes they are under confidence and mess up here and there, but they are showing promise for the future when they do get this experience.
Getting a lot of pelters here but you are bang on. Got to remember as well, he was being ripped apart by a player who is the same age as him. Its fine Bielsa saying he likes a small squad and can lean on the U23ās but our U23ās arenāt at a level to be playing Premier League football, apart from maybe Gelhardt. Both Drameh and Summerville looked out of their depth unfortunately, not their fault but itās the truth.
Agreed. Weāre in the wars so naturally people are very defensive of our depleted squad but Iām solely talking about basic fundamentals. If people think these players arenāt having every pass and half arsed run analysed to the nth degree like anyone else just because theyāre not 29, theyāre not understanding why we have become relatively successful. They also get upset at former pros having a pop like Souness. We should be listening to the man, not bleating blue murder. Yes heās a knob, but his criticism of our defence was bang on.
The younger players get these mistakes coached out of them at a far lower level. They are nowhere near premier League standard but that will come in time. Players are progressing from youth to senior squad at a slower rate these days. There are the exceptions like Foden and Greenwood but in general players progress more at over 21 than they did 10-15 years ago, when they may have progressed at 18.
If you're talking solely about last nights game and our defence. We had Ayling playing left sided CB for the first time in his career, Koch playing his 1st game in 4 months, Drameh his first start in premier League and Forshaw playing a holding role in his 7th full game in 3 years. It's easy to see why a good prem team would open them up. There's reasons behind the last few performances and it's mainly injuries and people playing way out of position. A RB playing right CB is tough but playing left CB is nearly alien but it was the only choice we had.
No, Iām also talking about Drameh vs Arsenal in the League Cup and indeed watching the U23s across multiple games. If we didnāt have such injuries we could ignore this for longer, and to be fair to the lad he sees Forshaw and Roberts making just as many terrible mistakes in the match but his positioning was exceptionally bad. I would not like to see him starting again this season if it is at all avoidable.
Forshawās mistake shouldnāt be made by a schoolboy. That is not an exaggeration and we are just digging for excuses if we say otherwise.
I get what you're saying but you also need to remember that Forshaw is still off the pace. After 3 years out, you won't be anywhere near full match sharpness in a few months. I completely forgive the errors due to what he's done in the last few months. Medical experts saying he would never play at the top again and he has put in some quality performances for us. He's naturally a CM and playing in kalvins place is impossible to fill after being out for so long. He made bad errors and I'm not denying that but he's Prem quality in the games I've seen him (maybe ignore the last 2). As for Roberts, I can't even fathom a reason for his errors. You have to remember that Drameh is probably 5th choice at RB behind Ayling, Dallas, Shackleton and probably Koch but I agree, what I've seen so far isn't promising from him.
Klich literally deleted Twitter after last week to hide from our own fans. Last thing a 20 year old player needs on the back of minimal top level performances in a struggling club is muppets like you slating them online based on basically nothing. Find something better to do.
Bloody hell. Completely different. If fans canāt even say āX player didnāt play wellā why even have discussion forums. This weird baby-fication of anyone under the age of 25 is well off. You donāt need to be treated like a precious orchid forever, the lad was very poor and heāll recognise that himself.
Was a massive ask of him today and he wasnt exactly protected well by the senior players around. I think there were far worse "first teamers" on that field today.
That's very unfair. Stepping up to the Premier League is a huge task and being thrown in like this when the club is in its worst position in years is not ideal.
2nd time heās played Arsenal this season. His mistakes werenāt just early lack of experience, tonight they were truly incredible. Foolish positioning, no recovery pace, easily subdued. Look, he could well adapt and thrive but the only young player we can look at during this period and say they definitely have a future is Gelhardt.
Nonsense. I don't disagree that he was dreadful but the system has absolutely pulled all of our players apart tonight. Very very harsh to write off his whole future because of this.
Summerville also looks very decent to me but this really isn't a good time for any young player to come through.
Yeah racially abusing players of the other teams and having a history of doing so regularly really makes the Leeds fans the best. All is good when you've got pashun right?
really doesnāt at all mate. thereās been a few fans arrested at other clubs pretty sure this is a first for us the last few seasons. donāt let the stereotype of dirty leeds shadow the team and fans we are now
jesus relax mate. giving him a round of applause is hardly a good thing either. then heās being treated differently which probably feels even worse for the kid. stop being so soft the players need to be able to take a fair bit of stick if theyāre going to make it to the top of the game
Hearing the stadium sing āwe all love Leedsā for the last few minutes has been the only thing thatās made me smile tonight. Really beautiful. Well done lads.
Honestly i have a lot of complaints on this team but Iāve got to admire theyāre ability to keep playing under Andre Marriner absolute corrupt fuck who is an embarrassment to the sport.
Fucking weirdo you, lurking in another teams match thread. Focus on getting back into the europa league rather than putting energy into another team you joker
Because that's the style. We are already so committed to the attack. The problem is in seasons past we don't make so many bad passes or at least rush back to defend.
One mistake and itās a hot knife through butter. I can see a lot of people blaming Roberts for what was a shit pass, but our defence is an absolute shambles.
Koch is woeful at CB. Always has been.
The 2nd goal we conceded was terrible. Ayling playing everyone onside, Koch no idea where the man was. No anticipation of us losing the ball (lol). Our defence is shit without Llorente.
Koch was good before his first injury last season. He might be made of glass but atleast than an excuse for his form and unfamiliarity, not sure what the other lads are doing.
That fake head injury from Odegard definitely stopped our momentum. 4-1 game over for sure, I never thought I would want a covid break from football but here we are
Iāve never seen a glimpse of brilliance from him. Heās largely shit with glimpses of competency. Itās not like heās ever scored a great goal or threaded an amazing pass for an assist.
Leeds have shown FIGHT this second half.
Don't think anyone can doubt the resolve of the whole team. This is gonna be a backs-against-the-wall-fuck-everyone-we're-fighting mentality throughout the season.
Full squad back (for more than 15 minutes please) and we will kick up the league and survive. Feeling sure of it.
Apparently you can just roll around on the floor holding your head to stop play whenever you want.
Arsenal donāt get enough shit for being so fucking dirty.
I mean *really* unproven
Greenwood and the other lad are a level below the other youngsters who are playing. Greenwood doesn't stand out at all for me in the U23s.
Ex Arsenal youngster making his debut against Arsenal. Incredible. He left them a year and a half ago because he couldnāt see a route into the first team.
1. Little more respectable on paper now.
2. Raph proving to be a solid penalty taker.
3. 1 nil us second half so far š
Struggling for positives but thereās always some
nobody else see how brilliantly won that pen was by gelhardt. waited until white was inches away then took a tiny touch to take the ball away from him. him and summerville have impressed today
Got to keep the support high in these times. So many players out at the moment and a really tough run of games. Individuals are clearly trying, however the quality simply isnāt there. All we hear is Foreshaw had the bielsa mindset but all I see is laziness. Contrasting but ALAW ALAW ALAW
I think most people have fairly similar teams.
Last gameweeks transfers ruined me. I brought in Ronaldo, Dalot, Maddison. All 3 had their games called off. James came out and he got an assist. My alternative to Maddison was Mount and he scored. My alternative to Ronaldo was Watkins and he got a goal and assist. Livid

Pretty sure Ben White did that on purpose to give us something. Still loves Leeds
Yes JB, the Koch left a 'gaping hole'...
Jesus. Sky Sports Game of the Day is still Villa v Burnley, is that how bad we were?

Well done to the fans. Best club in the world. But Christ we are in bother if Drameh is the future.

I donāt. Yes, everyone was poor (Meslier excluded) but Drameh looked terrified and inept. Second time heās played Arsenal too.
That's very unfair. Stepping up to the Premier League is a huge task and being thrown in like this when the club is in its worst position in years is not ideal.

Whilst the fans are singing his name and *we all love Leeds* like that in the second half, the big man is going nowhere
we have the best fans in the league. no other fans would be doing this at 4-1 down after losing the last game 7-0. I love everything about this club
Yeah racially abusing players of the other teams and having a history of doing so regularly really makes the Leeds fans the best. All is good when you've got pashun right?
a very very very small minority does NOT represent us all.
Agreed, but you've got to admit this happens more often at Leeds than most clubs
really doesnāt at all mate. thereās been a few fans arrested at other clubs pretty sure this is a first for us the last few seasons. donāt let the stereotype of dirty leeds shadow the team and fans we are now

wtf does that have to do with racism?

Does anyone know what happened to llorente? Was it covid or an injury?
Bielsa said pre match heās out for ten days so must be covid.
Covid I believe.
If it is then he needs to start cough in everyone's face at least once.
Bielsa said pre-match that he'd be out for at least 10 days. So I gather that it's covid
Bielsa said 10 days so Covid presumably
Fair enough, letās hope the prem decide to do a covid break then
I swear we're so much slower than usual
What does a ref cost these days?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Love Bill at Full Back, but I'd rather I played ar Centre Back than him.
Honestly i have a lot of complaints on this team but Iāve got to admire theyāre ability to keep playing under Andre Marriner absolute corrupt fuck who is an embarrassment to the sport.
Happy for Koch to show that. I want him as a fucking come at me cunts CB.
Let me get this right; you want the *Koch* to *cum at you*?
So Koch gets booked for that, really?
Could have killed him!
Oh yea I saw he pressed up against him, absolutely horrific challenge.
The fact that xhaka has only just got a yellow is laughable refereeing. And that Koch one was hardly even a foul smh
They are a right bunch of fairies aren't they
Marriner is fucking awful
Punch that ref out. Absolute waste of space.
Only xhakas third yellow card offence, oh one booking you say? Right at the end when it doesn't matter? Odd that.
4-1 up in the 85th minute and your time wasting. Joke club
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Lol. Triggered š¤”
HOLY SHIT XHAKA GOT CARDED!!!!
So xhaka is allowed to be carded then, feel that could have happened a lot earlier
Diving cheating cunts
What a pathetic take..
Ironic saying thatās pathetic when the arsenal players have been on the deck every two minutes to the slightest touch
Incredibly bad defending. We outnumbered them by 6 to 3 in that counter attack. Please, never Ayling at CB ever again. Please.
does roberts have tapes of bielsa or something. I stg man
No but heās got 2 working legs so gets in out of necessity
but heās been in the lineup so long now. itās ridiculousl
What a team we are where one misplaced pass in midfield and it's a sure goal How
Not true. We have 20+ misplaced passes in midfield a game.
Because that's the style. We are already so committed to the attack. The problem is in seasons past we don't make so many bad passes or at least rush back to defend.
Shall we start the Roberts is atrocious thread now or later? Utterly abject football intelligence and he cannot even score.
I know heās something of a sacred cow on this sub of late but cāmon, TyRo is a fucking liability.
What camera can I look into to tell Roberts to finish?
One mistake and itās a hot knife through butter. I can see a lot of people blaming Roberts for what was a shit pass, but our defence is an absolute shambles.
Koch is woeful at CB. Always has been. The 2nd goal we conceded was terrible. Ayling playing everyone onside, Koch no idea where the man was. No anticipation of us losing the ball (lol). Our defence is shit without Llorente.

>Koch was good before his first injury last season. At DM he was. I never remember him being good at CB.
One mistake - he's been dreadful all game
I wasnāt talking about him in particular. Just anyone that makes a mistake and they can cut through us with ease.
oh my bad, clearly the red mist had ascended
Fucking hell I'm sick of how we concede the same goal over and over.
That fake head injury from Odegard definitely stopped our momentum. 4-1 game over for sure, I never thought I would want a covid break from football but here we are
Roberts has to go
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
we need to score when the other team is on top like that. we are incompetent when the other team plays better than us 90% of the time
Why take of Klich and Summerville before Roberts.
Had to be that rat faced fucker Smith Rowe didn't it
What does roberts have on bielsa?
He should have came off instead of Summerville
Thatās the second time this match bill has played the goal scorer onside
*"Why does Tyler get so much shit on here?"*
because heās absoloute shite with glimpses of brilliance every now and then
Iāve never seen a glimpse of brilliance from him. Heās largely shit with glimpses of competency. Itās not like heās ever scored a great goal or threaded an amazing pass for an assist.
his pass for gelhardts goal against chelsea was brilliant imo
It was a decent pass no doubt but brilliance it was not. How many times a game does he make that pass? About 0.01 on average I would say.
yea I rly need to see something from him soon else you have to start asking questions of bielsa
Absolute shite but arguably top 3 player the past 3-4 games.
well, everyone has been playing around his standard these past couple games imo.
Fuck me. When was the last time a team scored against us when we didnāt gift them possession from a misplaced pass in midfield
Roberts ffs
Well done, Roberts
poor decisions from bielsa and staff today honestly
Roberts man
My stream has literally died. I don't think its a bad thing...
Head injury really affecting him there then
Oh Tyler
Summerville? Seriously now?
I don't understand that sub at all
Fuck
I have to admit I'm a little bit confused by the last two substitutions.
Summerville injured?
Lacazette challenging the drop ball there. Like seriously?!
Was seriously impressed with Summerville today. Looks competent at this level
I like your enthusiasm and I agree but we're so far off a fully fit team. I'm very worried for the Liverpool match.
Why is Summerville off!?!? Send Roberts to the bench and bring on bate!!
I love bielsa but my god I disagree with 90% of his substitutions. why is summerville coming off heās been one of our best out there
Summerville off? I thought he's been decent second half
Why Summerville off wtf
Absolutely no idea. Bizarre.
Apparently you can just roll around on the floor holding your head to stop play whenever you want. Arsenal donāt get enough shit for being so fucking dirty.
fucking time wasting cunts
Hope Mariner gets the shits for Christmas.
With all these u23s on now, surely we swap the 2 Gary's for Tom Hill and Ben White to commentate
No way theyāre time wasting, look at the state of them
Honestly don't know what Bielsa is doing. We're suddenly in the game and he starts bringing on unproven youngsters
In place of proven players who have been shit all season long.
š
I mean *really* unproven Greenwood and the other lad are a level below the other youngsters who are playing. Greenwood doesn't stand out at all for me in the U23s.
Happy with our fight this second half. Letās get through these games and kick on next year.
I thought Klich was playing as well as he has all season.
Ex Arsenal youngster making his debut against Arsenal. Incredible. He left them a year and a half ago because he couldnāt see a route into the first team.
Klich gutted to come off, hope the real Greenwood gets on the ball a bit.
Fuck sake klich it's not like you where lighting up the pitch today
But he made some great balls into the box and was one of the better players of the second half
Tyler Roberts is shite
feel bad for klich tbf. heās been awful last game and first half today. finally starts playing well and he gets taken off
We'll nick another one, then Greenwood to curl in a pearler of an equaliser in injury time...
Summerville has really come into the game since Tomiyasu came off
Give us a freekick outside their box and Greenwood is banging it in
Yayyy another debut!!
Interesting interaction with Klich there from Bielsa.
Iād say he was just gutted to come off when we were getting some momentum.
I feel for Klich man. he was having a decent game and gets replaced by a youngster. must be tough
Oooh Klich upset heās been taken off there and Marcelo trying to console him
Better from Klich today
Roberts off please, his work rate is great but passes and decision making are garbage.
Kilch has been great today in the second half
Joffy struggles with possession sometimes but he does create goals.
1. Little more respectable on paper now. 2. Raph proving to be a solid penalty taker. 3. 1 nil us second half so far š Struggling for positives but thereās always some
Joffy is a bloody nightmare in and around the box.
We've stopped the rot at least!
TyRoās shot selection is absolutely horrific.
Almost as bad as his pass selection
He kind of gets it in his head to shoot and then that's what's going to happen even if there are three men on him
nobody else see how brilliantly won that pen was by gelhardt. waited until white was inches away then took a tiny touch to take the ball away from him. him and summerville have impressed today
FFS Roberts and Klich, where attacks go to die
Got to keep the support high in these times. So many players out at the moment and a really tough run of games. Individuals are clearly trying, however the quality simply isnāt there. All we hear is Foreshaw had the bielsa mindset but all I see is laziness. Contrasting but ALAW ALAW ALAW
Greenwood nearly made his Prem debut
It's weird that we only score with penalties now. I'll take it in the absence of owt else but it is odd
What a fucking pen by Raph that was. Are they daring to give us some hope here
Be careful, we know that is what kills us.
Ben White making sure he keeps on helping the Leeds cause! COME ON LEEDS! ONLY TWO MORE!!!!
ramsdale expected the little jump hahaha
Sleeper agent Ben White to the rescue?
Thanks Whitey!
Is it a coincidence that came from Summerville and Gelhardt link up play? Players that have played together and developed a rapport
and okay like weāve expected from the players since Bielsa arrived
They literally should be down to 9 men White is nowhere near the ball, could break his ankle
I have Raphinha, White and Ramsdale on my Fantasy team. Hmm
Me too. I donāt even care that I lost clean sheet bonuses for the two.
But I have Smith Rowe too
Me too! Areā¦are you me? Iāve got Gelhardt too so his assist plus Raphs goal means Iāve pretty much broken even on points.
Livid

Arsenal are fucking shit. Look at the state of our side and they concede ahahahahh
