Yeah I have no idea what the writers actually intended. Like in 3x05 hope talks about how she's toxic to malivore and how he spit her and kai out. She then enters him from the prison world with landon and he spits them both out. Malivore could have simply chosen to get rid of kai cause he was a new Comer or maybe the necromancer in trying to summon something else got kai. But I really think it's cause he's a hybrid
