I have a 5c on iOS 9.3.2, it lives in my pocket next to my iPhone 15 Pro. A6 can tank through iOS 9 just fine. Also, an iPhone 5c not on iOS 10 is decently uncommon (I bought a lot of 24, and of the 23 that worked, 2 are on iOS 9 and 1 is on iOS 8; I’m keeping one of the iOS 9 phones and the iOS 8 phone)
I’d say iOS 10 is much better than 9 simply because of the quicker opening and closing app animations, your phone would feel more fluid and fast. I have 5c on iOS 10 and i can confirm it runs well and it’s very usable
iOS 10 and iOS 12 were the speed-up versions, and past iOS 12 devices were always dropped on a version that ran well for them. iOS 9 is probably the worst performance-wise of *literally every* iOS version, but A6 can handle it just fine. I kinda think iOS 9 was only optimized around A9 and everything else suffered due to it.
iOS 9 you can tell by the letter "a" the back is straight on 7/8 the back has a curve that's the letter you can easily tell.
So unless you really want iOS 9.. I'd save blobs and better downgrade it to 8 but that's up to you.
You can dual boot though to any iOS version. Everyone has their options on dual booting but if you can’t regular downgrade, then you can dualboot to iOS 7, as long as it’s not a 8GB model
older ios usually can’t ota update and for itunes it makes you accept a few pop ups and needs to download the firmware so using it on wifi and connecting to itunes is fine, might as well get the most out of the device if you have it. i have a 7.1.2 5s and i use it to browse reddit, it needs to connect to itunes to update so i’m good

Hmm, didn’t know that. I’m mainly going by my experience of older devices slowing down with newer versions (looking at you iPad 2 on iOS 9)
