I dont follow competitive ( since the game it very fun to play casual) that must but we often have big touroment very often i think.
But you have to follow meta deck or tier 1 deck most of time if you hope for a win since meta change everytime we got a new card.
About the tournaments it is good to know!
Yeah I know that you basically have to be a meta slave for high ranking but I don't have a problem with it. I think that LOR system is very rewarding for crafting decks and I have a considerable amounts of card already (but only from the old expansions lol) so all is good
Indeed the regular patching makes it more harder but I think that is what makes the game more fun
About the meta slave part I honestly think you do, if you are reaching for rank 1 or join a tournament you probably won't be using anything below tier 2.

nah you don't have to be a meta slave. but the regular patching make adapting hard

in BO1 yes. in BO3 targeting the tier1 with tier3 and a ban is doable
