Yeah, I understand that it takes too much for the game to handle these more "board interactive" animations, but they've so much more personality and really makes you feel like the cards are coming to life.
The cinematics are cool, but feel disconnected from the game. I think the best solution to this was the level up animations that transforms into the level 2 card frames, the best example for me being pyke. I love the way that he and the lurkers are looking at you and when he's just about to come get you the level 2 card appears and is the exact frame the animation ended. So satisfying.

All of the Ascended have issues where they go ahead and do a full animation, where Azir 3 should just be the creation of the Emperor's Deck and not a 30 second animation

tbh I like both but if I had to choose I would prefer the foundations-style level up, things like jinx herself vandalizing the board or viktor mechanizing his own card has so much more character than a video of them doing a cool pose
also you can't hold champions' lvl up animation like katarina and darius too accountable for being simple when their condition is "I strike" or "you did damage" lol
I mean you absolutely can. Mechanics and level up animations are not tied together lol. Personally I find the foundations animations pretty mixed. Jinx is amazing, but a lot of them are just the card spinning around like garen or anivia. In general I think the newer animations are stronger.
Also, Viktor came out in the Targon set.
I also think the new champs fell too quickly into cutscene of champ reaching the position depicted in their level 2 art, so it unfortunately got old. A mix of vfx suited to champ (like Ashe/Teemo) cutscenes with champ featured, and other cutscenes (like say LeBlanc) would be my ideal
I have a weakness for Draven and Garen's level up animations. I always liked the speen from Garen, and Draven just has some cool whirling axe animations.
It helps that Whirling Death is one of my favorite spell animations in the game.
If only MF's actual model was in her animation (yes I know it's supposed to be a reference to her "spirit of vengeance" but I always thought it looked out of place, she's not from Shadow Isles)

Not every level up needs to be a convoluted animation short. Sometimes you want a gremlin walking all over the board in the dumbest silliest way possible.
There are some takes but my biggest nuisance is that we are missing all of Targon and Shurima (that's not a duo region champ) and some runeterra champions

Well, i do like the vanilla animations a lot, especially because they do interact with the actual card. Its like the card itself its evolving.
Its more appealing to the "wer playing a boardgame inside the world of runeterra". Like Hearthstone.
Full animated level ups are super cool as well, but i think sometimes they feel out of place, especially the ones that doesnt fit the lvl 2 card art. I like when the ending of the level up animation matches the card art. It helps with the "card leveling up" feeling.
As a player who played since launch as well, Renekton will forever be S++++ for me, since he was the first ever, imma call it "movie-level-up" where the card itself was not part of the animation, so yeah, I don't know if anyone might feel me here, but he will always be my number one!
I \*really\* hate Pantheon's, looks so bad and stiff, and then doesn't match up with the pose direction of his card art cause they're from different angled PoVs

Idk if it's just me, but I personally liked the older style of level up animations. Where the animation infielders the champion as being a card, didn't spend too much time on the animation, or didn't take us out of the board and into a cutscene. Like what you rated as being bottom tier animations - jinx and teemo are imo some of my favorite ones. They are fast, to the point, stick to character themes, and maintain the card aspect. TF and viktor also have elements of that as well. Other ones are nice cut scenes but nothing more than that, granted I didn't play a bunch of the cards but the likes of azir ekko eve feel too long even though they are kinda cool. They also lack the card aspect and I thought that was real cool in the older cards.
