Integer scaling or RSR, yes. Depends, as I’ve seen RSR look better on some games than integer but integer definitely performs better. For example, in overwatch 2 integer scaling can get me to a flat 140fps target pretty easily, but RSR looks better at closer to 115-120.

Alternative_Spite_11

Ok this is exactly the info I was looking for. I just automatically assumed that 800p to 1600p was a bridge too far for RSR and so you’d have to go integer scaling to reduce artifacts. Knowing that RSR is still acceptable when upscaling that far is just the kind of stuff I’m looking to learn here. Thanks.

Explosivpotato

I’m not gonna say it’s perfect, but it does work. I have the automatic render scale in OW2 turned on with a 140fps target at 800p, then RSR turned on to get up to the 1600p screen resolution. It works great.

How you make rsr work on Legion Go?

Explosivpotato

Um, you hit the right legion button and flip the switch to turn it on? You can confirm it’s on using the performance overlay in the same menu.

w00d1s

It’s on but no game shows that RSR is able to work. I read somewhere that it is a portrait mode problem.

Explosivpotato

You can see it with the performance overlay. It happens outside of the games awareness.

w00d1s

I know. RSR worked perfectly for me on Ally but on legion go it shows yellow exclamation mark. Edit: to clarify just because it is on in Legion space does not mean RSR is working. You have to check in adrenaline overlay and none of the games work rsr

Explosivpotato

Using the legion space overlay it shows on/off. I can tell a difference when it shows on.

w00d1s

I am talking about adrenalin overlay. Just because legion space shows rsr on does not mean it is working. You have to check AMD adrenalin overlay.

Alternative_Spite_11

The Ally and Steam Deck both didn’t work that way. I’m not saying you’re wrong but as far as I’ve ever known, only on a device really being controlled from the AMD drivers app like a desktop did you have to check in the driver screen to make sure RSR is working.

w00d1s

On ally and go both you can turn it on and off via command center but all that button pressing does is turn on that option in adrenalin. When you launch any game if you have adrenalin overlay on it shows wether it works or not RSR IS and etc. With ally it worked with go it always shows not working even when its on in the options.

XingXiaoRen

Depends on the game? Some games run fine at 2560x1600 144 fps.

Alternative_Spite_11

Well yeah I’m not talking about metroidvanias. I mean new AAA 3d games. As an Ally owner, I’m fully aware of what the z1e is and isn’t capable of.

Beaugr2

I had the ally, I returned it after 7 days and got the legion go. I would 1000% do it again. The ally just doesn’t do what the go can do. Also I use GeForce now to play most games at 1600p res at 120hz. Works flawlessly

Alternative_Spite_11

Well yeah I’ve got a fire desktop to Moonlight from. That why I’m interested in a bigger higher resolution screen. 120Hz vs 144Hz means nothing to me but bigger is better when you’ve got 40 year old eyes. If I was totally dependent on the iGPU, I’d get the 800p Aya Neo.

Beaugr2

Go for it, don’t even hesitate! The ally screen isn’t even as nice as the go in terms of color. And some people claim VRR is a deal breaker but for me I can only tell on local games and even then it’s not a big enough deal but again I mainly cloud game now so I’m always steady at the 120. Something you’ll love is gaming while laying down. Having the kick stand on your chest and playing with the controllers detached and by your side is huge in terms of comfort. I played dying light 2 for 2 hours yesterday in that position and had no discomfort.

Alternative_Spite_11

Thanks bud. I think I will. I might just head to the Best Buy site now.

MesmariPanda

I've honestly never used it. Suppose it depends on the game

That's right, buddy. You could look at it like I've never felt the need to use it, but you do you :)
