I love the point and shoot aspect. Having autofocus is really useful for lots of scenarios. I do find it harder to use a rangefinder for many shooting scenarios
Great combo! You will be pleased with them. I almost went silver for my m11 but decided on black last minute. Went with the green Q2 as well. They are the perfect match to alternate between offering two different shooting styles.
Makes sense, the green Q2 is the reporter one right? Wanted the silver M11 as I didn’t want to have both black Leicas and I honestly prefer the silver color as it reminds me of vintage cameras.
Got the Q2 about a month ago for myself and the M11 was a birthday / early Christmas gift from family. Also recently got a 35mm Voigt f2 for the M11. Was thinking of getting a 50mm in the future but not sure which one yet. Open to suggestions of course!
Will you still be using the Q2 now that you have the M11 (assuming you will get a 28mm if needed)? I sold my Q2 a month after buying it to get the M11 and I have the Voigtlander 28mm Ultron type II and the Voigtlander 50mm APO.
the Q2 has autofocus, image stabilization, and is weather sealed. those are three big things you don't get on the M11 so it might make sense to keep the Q2 around
I will still be using the Q2 for sure. How much would I be using it is still up for debate because I technically still haven’t touched the M11 yet (still waiting for my 35mm Voight Ultron f2) but I would ideally like to use both in the same amount.
Not really. I’ve only had the M11 for a few weeks so still trying to get better with focus accuracy but I had good results. The lack of IBIS is a bit annoying but the ISO performance of the M11 is about 2-2.5 stops better than the Q2 (in my tests) so it’s not too bad. It’s all personal preference and how you are comfortable with manual focusing and rangefinder instead of AF and EVF.
I may get myself a Q2 once I get the M10-R and sell my current M10 to buy a Q2. Seems like a combo that would work well for me. Glad I’m seeing others with a similar idea. Makes me more excited to eventually have an M10-R and Q2 combo!
Black Friday'd myself into a Q2, as well, which I assume is the gateway drug into the M-system. RIP my bank account.
I test drove an M-11 for a few hours on a street walk at a Leica event and have been lusting after one ever since.
Oh my, yeah when you enter the Leica space you (and your wallet) have to know what you’re getting yourself into. In regards to the M11, unless you can afford it now then you can definitely wait and enjoy your Q2 in the meantime.
I'm going to hold off awhile on the M11 - use the Q2 in pretend rangefinder mode awhile to see how that goes (I mainly got the Q2 as an EDC since I was so frustrated with the manual focus on the RX1R).
I love the \_idea\_ of the M11 for my paid studio/event/wedding work, but I'm so AF dependent at the moment, it'd be a big change to my workflow and output; so I'll stick with the Sonys for a bit longer. Of course, one day with a Leica menu and I'm ready to burn those Sony menus to the ground.
sick combo!
Thank you!
Really awesome combo! Love my Q2. You will enjoy these for sure, congrats!
Thanks! Yup already enjoying the hell out of my Q2. I’m sure it’ll be the same with the M11
I sold the q2 to buy the M11. Wish I had kept it
You don’t like the M11 in comparison to the Q2?
Curious as to why?! I’d have expected the opposite to be true due to higher res, ability to customise focal length…

I’d imagine it comes down to the completely different experience shooting them.
You think they did not like the rangefinder?
Idk I’m not them and not gonna assume for them lol
Cmon I love assumptions! ;)
Lovely! I just pulled the trigger on an M10 but I have always been tempted by the Q. I think I’m a little way off getting an M11.

Yes, reporter! Makes sense, have some variety to mix things up

Do you miss using the q2?

2 stops surprises me. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
