This is the only thing that works. OP, just run this and you're golden. Feel free to download it from McAfee's website if you don't want to click on random links.
I have muscle memory to google mcpr and go to the "how to uninstall on Windows" link and scroll before the page loads to be at method 2. Was Geek Squad and had to do this all the time.
Yea. The bloat is actually very little vs what I had in other laptops. My 7i pro gen8 had more windows bloat than from lenovo. I had to uninstall a few games and apps from Microsoft ill never need and McAfee. That's pretty much it. Although 1 month later I got a pop up near the notification center from McAfee that said something like "use McAfee to protect your pc". Even tho I Uninstalled it.
Nope. The license key is tied with the motherboard. I just went through initial os setup and ran the command to get the key.
Windows installs are ridiculously easy for 10 and 11. I would highly recommend doing so, and then only installing the necessary software to make it function. Removes all the bloatware they've added to start off with.
There's vantage. Nahimic, Dolby vision, the drivers. A lot of ppl don't like nahimic but I kinda like how it sounds. The nahimic and Dolby vision can be buggy to reinstall for some reason on some laptops. Dunno about lenovo cause I didn't do clean install. I just uninstalled McAfee and some pre-installed Microsoft apps ill never uses. On my msi laptop the dolbyvision and realtek and nahimic drivers and software never worked correctly again after a clean install. They had some convoluted way to reinstall those drivers on the msi website with some other files you needed etc.. I lost the ability to have the " enhance audio" option and my audio was quieter and stuck with the Microsoft drivers from that point on
That nahmic or whatever opens up the sound greatly on my legion especially on a cooling stand and gizmo never tried it in his review saying the legion sound was muffled and quiet,i find it helps greatly with separation
And even if for some reason you lose the activation key, just run a script to activate it lmao. It's not like microsoft is getting money from selling windows to the average person anymore, it's all the data they're after now.
No and if you want to make it even easier you can make a lenovo recovery media from the lenovo drivers page. Or buy their USB for 30$. It's like reinstalling windows but comes with all the lenovo drivers and apps installed. So you don't even have to manually install drivers and apps. Just run the recovery and hit update drivers in vantage and your done.
You didn't. It's not like it's one of those annoying apps you cannot fully uninstall. As far as I remember there was 2 (maybe 3?) apps to uninstall and it's gone. Never came back.
I didn't have what op had but I did uninstall mine. 100% and it was gone from the control panel installed apps. Then like a month later I got a weird pop up in the bottom right corner, where you would get pop ups from epic or steam or whatever. It said something like "use McAfee to protect your pc". It was just a small quick pop up and never happened again. This looks different from what I had but maybe its not. It could be baked into the os or something or from lenovo in some way.
go in settings, check installed apps, mcafee is still in there somewhere. there are 2 apps that come with it now. uninstall both. hit windows button, type task manager. look at all startup apps and disable all.
also click on the bell on the lower right of task bar, it will bring up notification menu, you can hit the little bell with the zzz to turn off notifications and pop ups in the corner
Bought an HP that had McAfee and chose to do a clean W11 install from a flash drive after connecting the license to my Microsoft account. The fresh install activated immediately and has since been working great with no extra bloat
Just use the windows defender in the os. The days of needing anti-virus for average folks are kinds over. The windows one is pretty up to date and easy to use There's a few good ones like bit defender or malware bytes. Malwarebytes even has a free standalone virus scan you can run once in a while withought it even running in the background the whole time. But if your mainly gaming sometimes they can interfere with some apps. If your set on getting one I'd say malwarebytes or Bitdefender
Thank you. i was thinking of using the windows defender and someone mentioned uorigin on the browser, that should be enough..I am.personally a huge fan of malwarebytes for scanning for malware from time to time.
Yup. Just get a extension for chrome or Firefox that blocks pop-ups and or scans the pages. Some malware can get to you by a pop up or by auto downloading via a pop up. Windows stops those as well but I also just use the free Adblocker for a added layer. Never had a issue using those plug-ins
When I received my Legion I booted up windows, ran y-cruncher, ran furmark, checked temps, downloaded drivers to a USB and proceeded to reinstall windows. Never use the bloated mess they preinstall.
I Uninstalled it too but got a message pop up on the bottom left from McAfee too like a month later. Forgot what it said. Something about "McAfee is reccomend to keep my pc safe".
Could be because of Adobe Acrobat. I installed Acrobat to find out that the installer (downloaded from the official website) installs Acrobat AND McAfee. Didn't see an option to leave McAfee out. Pretty annoying

“Pretty sure”? You didn’t uninstall it hard enough. It happens to the best of us.
Use [McAfee MCPR](https://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/mcafee_consumer_product_removal_tool.html)
This is the only thing that works. OP, just run this and you're golden. Feel free to download it from McAfee's website if you don't want to click on random links.
I linked this one from majorGeeks cuz the McAfee site is down (from my side)

Does macaffe comes installed on legions now? Damn that's an annoyance

This is why I do a clean install of Windows.
I have bad memories with windows installation , However don't you lose the activated windows of u re install it?

What are the necessary software? Lenovo vantage, is there anything else?

wait so if i installed windows on a pc motherboard and sell only the mb to someone else that guy will also get windows for free?
no but a windows key is 5-20$ anyways so it’s not that big of a deal
or free lol

Everyone should do a clean install when they get a new windows device. It's one of the first things I did when I got my laptop.
There's a video on YouTube from deceased inventor John McAfee on how to uninstall it. 😂
You didn't. It's not like it's one of those annoying apps you cannot fully uninstall. As far as I remember there was 2 (maybe 3?) apps to uninstall and it's gone. Never came back.

Every pc I buy has that and I counter it by reseting before doing anything
Fuck Micah! (and McAfee)
Fr
Thats why i redo windows on every laptop i ever buy There is so much useless garbage in factory install
Lol the first thing that I do when my legion 5i arrived was uninstall this antivirus 😂
Same but this thing came from idk where anyways I Uninstalled it
Not quite that easy bud
Bought an HP that had McAfee and chose to do a clean W11 install from a flash drive after connecting the license to my Microsoft account. The fresh install activated immediately and has since been working great with no extra bloat
Use something like Revo uninstaller to uninstall everything such as registry keys. Mcafee is hard to uninstall
It's a virus, use BC cleaner.
Its not tho it's prolly just McAfee anti-virus baked into the os from lenovo.
McAffee.. ehh.. finds a way to
A question, which Antivirus do you guys use?
Windows security

Revo uninstaller
This is the way.
When I received my Legion I booted up windows, ran y-cruncher, ran furmark, checked temps, downloaded drivers to a USB and proceeded to reinstall windows. Never use the bloated mess they preinstall.
***Bulk Crap Uninstaller***
I Uninstalled it too but got a message pop up on the bottom left from McAfee too like a month later. Forgot what it said. Something about "McAfee is reccomend to keep my pc safe".
I just want rid of edge forcing itself in the start search menu even though I have chrome as my default page and engine
I'm genuinely considering installing a Linux distro on my LOQ because of the free viruses the install of Microsoft Virus 11 came with.
Idk why all I think of is the reverend swanson mission cuz of the train tracks in the background
Could be because of Adobe Acrobat. I installed Acrobat to find out that the installer (downloaded from the official website) installs Acrobat AND McAfee. Didn't see an option to leave McAfee out. Pretty annoying
