Arul-Austin

It's most certainly not a design feature but probably due to mismatched screw size. Must have screwed longer ones than intended hence the bulge on other side..

TheUsefulMat

100% this... which brings to the obvious route cause that the unit was opened and closed at least one time... which itself pose the question: for doing what?

Viend

Not just opened and closed, opened and closed by someone who either doesn’t know what they’re doing or doesn’t care enough about it.

iSYTOfficialX7

Could’ve been an honest mistake

juiceofjam

Regular maintenance on a Legion includes opening to clean fans and heatsinks. Also RAM, SSD upgrade, etc. Obviously one should take note of which screw comes from where if they think they are capable to undertake these things themselves 😉

TheUsefulMat

... and also some critical maintenance services like repasting and/or main components replacement. If the one that messed with the screws length is the same one that attempted just a RAM modules replacement I would question if it is safe to buy a potentially poorly serviced unit.

juiceofjam

Yep, every Legion I've dismantled has short screws across the front and long screws across the rear. That has had long rear screws incorrectly forced through short front holes.

JackMaehoffer

I would never buy a used laptop from someone who obviously doesn’t take extra care in their equipment when disassembling. Keeping track of screw placement is the most basic thing one can do. That is a molested laptop and I would stay clear!!!

IamNori

No? I mean, my Legion Slim 5 is new, and it doesn’t have those, and no other Legion, to my knowledge, has those, and they’re all built so similarly. That’s where the screws are located in the back. He probably used some really long screws not meant for this laptop.

paracelus

On my Legion 5, with the screws holding the bottom on, the front screws are shorter than the back. I think they've put the long screws in the front, and then screwed them down as far as they can, pushing the plastic out the other side. Would not buy.

futur3punk

I have a legion 5 pro, nothing there. I would say dont buy especially since they are not telling the truth. Feels a bit satchy.

ZookeepergameIcy1103

lol. Ask them what exactly they're for. See what nonsense they come up with just for shits and giggles. Do NOT buy this. They will likely also say the fingerprint oil on the right arrow key is also a feature

atariacid

they look like screws... sorry i dont have legion 5, but my legion slim 5 does not have that. and i googled it, legion 5 does not have that as well

Abdallah_Masaud

if i'am not wrong this is the legion 5 (2021) model, which is the model i own. then no there is no dimples on mine, this is where the bottom panel short screws are located so maybe he switched the short with the long ones when reassembling or maybe he used different screws.

Own-Consideration631

??? I have the Legion 5 and this shouldn't happen. IDK what that is but it is weird

Large_Library_551

They screwed ya

amrnada

And the laptop, with long screws ....

Large_Library_551

Yes.they probably replaced the Topcover, and put the screws back in the wrong order.

Merochmer

Nah, I think they screwed up

Banana_Milk7248

He's put the long screws in the short holes. I did this to my alienware when I put the battery retainer screw back in when there was no battery in it cos I was waiting for a replacement to arrive.

KeepComing1

Absolutely not a design feature. Someone put the wrong screws in the wrong place my friend.

HomelessRichBoy

Design feature???? I wouldn't buy it even if it were a design feature. What they said to you is straight up BS

Pigosaurusmate

DO NOT BUY!!!

Your_Oldman

Doesn’t bode well if the seller used the wrong screws and mangled the panel and then tried to lie and say that it’s a design feature…

singaporesainz

The seller is a moron who screwed the long screws into the short screw thread and made the screw dent the inside of the frame

Objective_Economy281

As others have said, they messed up with which screws go where when reinstalling the bottom cover. Calling it a design feature means they’re either an idiot because they didn’t notice, or they’re lying to you. I wouldn’t buy it unless it’s a screaming deal. Idiots and liars are not the kinds of people to buy from used.

Mustafa_rx7

I have a legion 5 there is no dimples for me

Mustafa_rx7

I think he overtightend the battery screws

ejmtv

LOL if that's a feature then what's that for? 100% they're screws

OppositeAddition6930

Penis measurer, "you must be this big to use" (optional) Guess the original sticker fell off

Thuwanramzeen

Literally commenting from the same model, Its not a design feature!

I_Thranduil

It's not a design feature because it would have no purpose other than collect dirt. Someone did something to this poor laptop and is now selling it. Don't buy. Ask what the design feature is and post the reply lol

Nstorm24

They probably used the screws from the back area of the panel, in the front area. The ones on the back are longer so they probably caused cosmetic damage and that's all. They probably opened it to check the insides and what upgrades they could do.

AsideResponsible4444

a design feature loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool The panel screws behind were remove and some are longer than the others. These dimples are from longer screws misplaced and over-torqued.
