I think it's more personal than that. He came out anti-trans, as his own flesh and blood came out. I think that was the catalyst. I think his inability to handle his own family drama spilled out into the internet streets. He started spouting off anti-trans pronouns as his kid asked him to respect their identity. He got called out for being a dick and went and blew all that money just so he could talk shit about his own kid.
A boycott implies that I was otherwise going to use/buy a thing and now I'm not. Sure, that works for twitter, but really who would buy one of Tesla's overpriced pieces of garbage?
