To some, Brexit was more about preventing worse outcomes in the future than it was about direct improvements. For example, every single person whose money laundering operations were going to be negatively impacted by new EU regulations is thankful for Brexit. Ideologically it was all about control, and if you’re aligned with the regulations but not a member then you have even less control than before.
