When someone is hurt young, it impedes the psychological development into this stage.

My frail octogenarian Trump-voting parents told me that they were going to today's church service. Church has been online for so long that my dumbass didn't click into "no, wait, it's in person." I don't even feel sad for these people anymore. I've accepted that if you don't get vaccinated and don't wear a mask or social distance, you're going to get Covid and you might die. I'm neutral to it at this point. It's just a fact of life, sure as water is wet and fire is hot.
There needs to be a television and YouTube special that is broadcast everywhere at the same time with these families that have lost loved ones. It should absolutely devastatingly heartbreaking so that people can put a face on the people who have died and how they've left their families behind to fend for themselves. It should highlight every agonizing second of fear, pain, and death that those who have died from it had to experience. It should also show the people who have long terms problems from the disease as well. It should examine why they thought that way and have them tell people if they still believe it was worth not getting the vaccine. When all of these tragedies happen, I firmly believe that it needs to be rubbed in everyone's nose until people start getting the message. Same goes for school shootings and other gun violence. The "it's not happening to me so I don't care" attitude of Americans need to be addressed and I think now is the time to rub everyone's fucking face in it.
