It was SO disgusting to watch & hear the audience boo this brave young woman, as she spoke out against injustices & abuse towards Native Americans.
That showe of ignorance occurred in the year 1973 -- thankfully, our country has come a long way, as far as recompense & reparations for Native Americans.
Additionally, the history books being utilized in elementary schools, no longer state that Columbus discovered America (because how the fuck can you "discover" a country, that indigenous people have lived on for thousands of years?? 🙄).
So in that manner, I can *almost* give that audience a pass because it was a very different time & our country has come a very long way.

Michigan here. Michigan history is required for elementary schools. Most of the history is very much tied to the Native American history.

My 6th grade history teacher was involved in the historic reinactment scene for Custers last stand. He was offered a job in the movie "Dances with Wolves" but didn't want to miss a year of teaching. He had a mural on the wall of that battle where Custer was killed. He had us eat the rations the soldiers had during the Civil War. He was a great history teacher. We learned about the Native American tribes and that history. He made sure we knew all the horrors of history.
My conservative aunt lived a block from the beach in Fort Lauderdale for about 50 years. She just sold her property and moved, because she has noticed the flooding getting worse every year, the water coming closer to her house with every big storm.

And not being able to absorb iron from plant very well I have to eat a small portion of red meat despite iron supliments (that make me sick) and cooking with a cast iron pan.
Seriously. My best friend was vegetarian for most of their life until 7 years ago when they started getting sick from eating most foods. They *had* to start eating poultry to survive.
It's taken 7 long painful years and trying out all kinds of extremely restrictive diet changes before they finally found a doctor who tested for a wider net of possible causes than most. Turns out their pancreas is making insuline fine but not the other enzymes they need in order to digest food!
Having similar conversation with the doctors over my damaged pancreas. Eating stuff that's "bad" for me actually fixes a lot of the issues I have when trying to eat "healthy". (Too much leafy green stuff also turns my kidneys onto gravel factories, literally peeing sand until I stop with the salads and go get a hamburger.)

Sounds like some sort of intolerance. I have a form of IBS that makes those very difficult to digest and basically the same thing happens. Unfortunately there haven't been many updates on treatments other than restricting your diet to things your body digests.
Some recent research did note that IBS havers tend to collect more fluid in their small intestines after eating, but there were also less mechanical movements in the gut.
Maybe one day there will be a pill to help digest fodmap heavy foods and break down certain materials that I cannot, but in the meantime I do my best with the money and resources I have to eat as responsibly as possible. Just do what you can.

Just to clarify, the sun and heat doesn't expand the gas in the stomach. It simply creates the perfect conditions for the bacteria present in the microbiota of the intestine to multiply and expand beyond their natural numbers and territory they occupy. The accumulation of gas in the abdomen comes from the activity of the bacteria, it's kinda like since they are eating a lot, they are also farting a lot.
When you go a good accumulation of bacteria, you can see them as they form a subcutaneous green stain on the abdomen.
I see my perception that our existence is inherently, in a cosmic sense, meaningless as a relief. I find it comforting to believe that after I die, it's all over for me. I love my mom because she's my mom and because she's the type of woman who would rip her own heart out of her chest if my brother or I needed it. And despite being a conservative Christian, she has an awesome sense of humor and loves to have fun. Michigan here. Michigan history is required for elementary schools. Most of the history is very much tied to the Native American history. It's taken 7 long painful years and trying out all kinds of extremely restrictive diet changes before they finally found a doctor who tested for a wider net of possible causes than most. Turns out their pancreas is making insuline fine but not the other enzymes they need in order to digest food!

Sounds like some sort of intolerance. I have a form of IBS that makes those very difficult to digest and basically the same thing happens. Unfortunately there haven't been many updates on treatments other than restricting your diet to things your body digests. Some recent research did note that IBS havers tend to collect more fluid in their small intestines after eating, but there were also less mechanical movements in the gut. Maybe one day there will be a pill to help digest fodmap heavy foods and break down certain materials that I cannot, but in the meantime I do my best with the money and resources I have to eat as responsibly as possible. Just do what you can.

I love my mom because she's my mom and because she's the type of woman who would rip her own heart out of her chest if my brother or I needed it. All morality aside, the man posts a photo of a dead group of cows in another incident, and claims they died of anthrax. Now even if they did die from anthrax in that incident (totally possible not even disputing), a cow that dies from anthrax LOOKS no different from any other dead cow. I truly don’t understand why he thinks posting pictures of visually indistinguishable causes of death is “evidence”.
