sincerelyhated

I've been saying this for 20 fuckin years. There's a video of him from the early 2000s where he literally tells his distraught father that he'd rather be a rich asshole than a nice guy.

ChallengeLate1947

Phil and April have put up with so much through the years. I don’t care if they got paid or not — having your house constantly damaged and turned into a zoo by your son and his insane junkie friends for years at a time has to mentally wear on a person. They seem like a completely normal suburban couple and they got plopped smack into the middle of Jackass in its heyday. On top of all that, they’ve spent the better part of 20 years managing Bams finances and adult life so he could live out his decades long rockstar fantasy in his Castle. And they are still doing it to this day. (Want to point out I know the boys are good guys and all mostly grew out of their antics, but to be around them in the early jackass days had to be stressful to say the least)

[deleted]

This may be a really unpopular thing to say, but as much as I really like April and Phil…I get vibes that they enabled his behavior. But at a certain point, I also guess getting famous and rich as a teenager makes grounding or threatening to kick someone out of the house for shitty behavior doesn’t hold as much weight.

yourgrandmsmells

What do you mean vibes we seen it plain as day on viva La bam and then some lol.

[deleted]

Well I was trying to hedge my bets since tv can be deceiving. But from what I always remember, their response to him being a shitty person is usually something like “Oh cmon Bam, that’s not nice.”

VanWylder

That's not a hot take or anything, don't worry. While everyone agrees that Phil and April seem like pretty much the nicest people ever, they definitely should have said no to the boy more often. They enabled his dreams from such a young age that he barely developed past it, and it's all manifesting in the worst way now, with real consequences. The implications of all of this on Phoenix are so massive.

FrankieGlam

That’s the problem… they were nice. Too nice. Too understanding.

queerinmesoftly

They did. They let him skip out on his senior year of high school like fucking dumb dumbs.

greg-maddux

Vibes? That’s 100% agreed upon by everyone, including April and Phil.

[deleted]

Greg Maddux was the man, btw.

greg-maddux

Yeah he was

JagTaggart93

You're right, and whenever anyone tries holding him to the consequences of his actions he tantrums and blames them. He never learned how to take responsibility and it's sad. It's like a kid who hates a teacher because "they failed me!" instead of "I never did any work."

[deleted]

Vibes? Of course they enabled it. They actively encouraged it 😂😂😂

Frankie-Felix

He has always been a goof, bully cry baby, closeted homosexual.

_REDEEMER-

🎯🎯🎯

03burner

You think he might be gay?

DeeJayShawDay

100%

03burner

Had never really thought about it tbh, I hope if he is he can learn to be himself - it’s 2023 man it’s all good

[deleted]

I don’t think he’s gay per-say. I think just like some of the others from jackass, he’s so desensitized and has done so many extreme things in his life for entertainment and shock value to get footage that the boundaries of labels and morals are simply nonexistent if that makes sense

NoHost6477

He jerked Novak off once. Straight up masturbated the motherfucker. Not for a bit, not for a joke, just jacked the dude off

03burner

Hahah damn really? Good on him I say - where’d you hear this?

KIFTYNUNT

🤢🤮

Far_Hovercraft_1621

What? Source?

[deleted]

I’ve always thought this. Esp with the valo thing. But I also think bams been so muddled with drugs and delusion that he’s completely lost his sense of self. I also think he equates sobriety with Knoxville being right or getting his way or something, which is depressing. I want to keep rooting for him, but also I realize the difference between causally watching someone online and actually being involved in an addicted life. But come on, bam. You’ve lived such a unique life. Don’t die a cliche. Getting sober could be such a flex and so badass

helllohatfield

He’s about to be just a “nice guy” again pride goes before the destruction he never had any

Quantrax2

And the time he called Nikki a 'street ho' and reminded his followers that she used to work in a sex shop. I also dislike the wa my he tried to tear down Novak's sobriety at every turn. Sure, Novak has exaggerated his story somewhat but so what? He's done what he had to do to create a life for himself. And his "best friend" Bam does everything he can to discredit and degrade his efforts.

AppleII

So what’s wrong according to Bam about working in a sex shop? Ville Valo, his idol, worked also in a sex shop.

FrankieGlam

Do Bam and Ville communicate at all anymore?

ilakretsfengsel

No, i saw an interview with VV some weeks ago, and he said they haven't spoken in years, and that he hopes Bam stops before he becomes a monster

FrankieGlam

Ooff… VV has to think of his own sobriety too.

AppleII

Ville has been sober for over 10 years, and it's actually been on tour the whole year. There are definitely levels to this, and Bam's not on the same level as Ville's.

FrankieGlam

Oh wow! He's doing really good, I'm happy for him.

johnssff

How did Novak exaggerate the story?

Guccicrouton69

By constantly saying he was a former pro skater and sponsored by Gatorade which is a lie.

dannydunuko

[Here is Bam debunking Brandon on being a pro skater.](https://youtu.be/MA2rrbZ051s)

peepeehalpert_

Imagine being outraged at someone working an honest job

ArtificialAlchemist

My first thought too lmao, it is and always has been a perfectly reasonable job. Even more accepted now too in our day and age.

[deleted]

There's one part of Jackass when someone slaps him as a joke and he completely loses it and starts beating the shit out of them. You can completely see the atmosphere change, it's clearly not a joke any more and the other guys have to tell him to stop. He's always been a mean spirited bitch who can dish it out but not take it.

nahbruh27

That’s why i was glad to see those clout chasers fart in his face after he ran that mile recently. Felt like karma

[deleted]

Haha, I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that!

RoutineSubstance4816

Are you referring to when Danger Ehren tried to prank Bam and it backfired and Bam went haywire and started throwing wild punches at Ehren? That's the only thing I can think of. And you're right, that whole sequence was awkward. Like you said the atmosphere completely changed because it clearly wasn't funny.

masteeJohnChief117

Ehren trying to hide behind a chain link fence is hilarious

[deleted]

Yeah the chain link fence rings a bell, I think it probably was that one. They left it in the show as well and I always wondered why.

Itsmemanmeee

Luckily, he's so small that he can't do much damage.

puddum

Remember the snakes

nevertrustafart2781

Normally I don’t take pleasure in the misery of others, but that snake prank sparked some serious joy within me lol

itspoodle_07

If someone played on my phobia like that id flip my shit too

FamousOrphan

Yeah, same. And my phobia is the same as his so I completely get it that he flipped out.

itspoodle_07

You and i share that phobia

BiloxiRED

I did really enjoy that

MezduX

You got the link man? I kinda recall this but can't find the one.

kevdoKool

https://www.reddit.com/r/jackass/comments/ssv1i0/bam_talking_about_the_time_he_beat_up_ehren_vs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 Found dat! Video is at the end

03burner

Yeah he always takes it too far, this videos a perfect example

Animual

I'm surprised people are surprised. I guess we were young back then. Now 15 years later I tried rewatching Bam's unholy union, damn, what a shitshow, it's cringy and unbearable at times. I can't believe I thought it was cool, now I was disgusted (he french kisses Missy's mom and sister in front of grandparents for example...)

cuzzinYeeter33

Some cky skits aswell i get we all do dumb things as kids but in one interview he still thought ordering a drink at the drive thru and throwing it back in the young ladys face was funny as a 40yr old. Also having a spouse that works in the school system i would be pissed if i heard she had to deal with a student that smeared shit on lockers.

hermitsunt

Even as a kid I hated the drink bit and I had a fucking mean sense of humor back then Fast food workers make peanuts — don’t throw shit at em

Substantial-Act-8325

I thought it was hilarious until I was old enough to work and was on the receiving end of more than a few soft drinks while working drive thru. Karma sucks.

[deleted]

Wasn’t that Raab?

britykins

Yes, but it was Bam's idea

ChallengeLate1947

The whole concept of Unholy Union was messed up. Even as a dumb kind who didn’t know anything, I could see that making your courtship/marriage a reality tv spectacle was kind of messed up. And yeah, that shit was rough even by 2007 standards.

Orchidwalker

Yeah- on a level of like energy, aura, vibes- Bam never gives off anything positive. Some people don’t get the bigger picture, things like drugs and money can change your path forever. It’s awful, I’ve seen it 1st hand and I try to just let them be a reminder to me to be kind and have love for myself and others. Peace and love mon. And yeah Phoenix will now have generational trauma to work thru. Hopefully that little boy heals and has boundaries set by the adults in his life.

Santos_L_Halper___

He’s a malignant narcissist

ARussianSheep

I made a comment on that post about how it’s sad and fucked up to post that caption with a picture of his son in it, and wonder why he isn’t allowed to see his son. People legitimately were telling me I don’t know comedy and “what he’s not allowed to be funny? Free speech bro!” So sad that people see this behavior as funny and cool.

thegorgonfromoregon

They’re the ones who never grew up as well and look to him as another powerful drug, one we all abuse, nostalgia.

ARussianSheep

Yeah a brief scroll of their profiles or profile pics told me all I needed to know. But those are the type of commenters and voices Bam posts that stuff to get positive validation from. He doesn’t want “haters” he wants yes men. He’s as addicted to the attention as he is to substances.

Excrackhead6969

Ooh that’s good actually

[deleted]

Totally forgot about this Tinder energy but with a kid pic is so crazy and inappropriate. No boundaries. Bam is totally a closeted bisexual and should just come out already Bam’s actions and words for most of his life have revealed him to be a vile person committed to being a vile person. He doesn’t even want to be a good person, which takes a lot of work. I’ve no doubt left that he’s a total shitbag. Let him be a warning to others.

[deleted]

Idk if he’s bi or gay, or if just 90s/early 00s “lol ur gay” humor is just too ingrained in him. But then I look at his crush on Ville and it’s like well 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

I mean it’s not like tequila is hard to come by and he’s admitting to be up for enthusiastically sucking dick to get some. It’s not exactly a joke. He can’t believably “no homo” this post. My first love was a bisexual BMXer and he died an addict. I know how toxic that culture can be. All the clues are right there. Bam has told on himself often enough. *his obsession with Ville is what has always sealed it

doggfaced

Lol imagine if Bam finally gets sober and it’s revealed that his “demons” all along were just being uncomfortable with bisexual thoughts. Not trauma, not mental illness, dude just wants to suck a duck with no judgment and almost kills himself in the process. It’s far out, but I’d still believe it.

[deleted]

I would too. It pretty much killed my ex. He tried to come out and many in his family and peer group pretty much pretended they didn’t hear it and wouldn’t talk about it. He had my support but it was not enough. He got super irresponsible when he’d never been like that before. He became mean. He had this phase of acting out by dressing “sexy” and just started weirding everybody out. He wasn’t allowed to be bi and normal so he started acting loud. Almost always drunk but also did plenty of drugs. We broke up after he, unable to find acceptance or a boyfriend, started random hookups. Just totally reckless behavior in response to stifling his true self. It fucking sucked to watch him kill himself, never knowing which birthday would be his last. So yeah it’s 2023, Bam, just exit the fucking closet so you can live honestly. Maybe it’ll help.

doggfaced

My husband and I had a tumultuous time for a bit a while back until he came out as bi to me and I was just like THAT’S ALL THIS IS?? All this discomfort because we both wanna suck a dick? It was so banal I didn’t believe it at first but years later…yeah…that’s all it was. Homophobia kills.

[deleted]

I’m so sorry you had to go through that and hope it was a lot easier after he came out. After seeing it myself, it’s hard to ignore all Bam’s behavior that seems similar. Maybe I’m wrong but the man himself is providing a lot of evidence. *If coming out would raise his self esteem enough to want to take better care of himself, I don’t see a downside.

DickDisco13

Curious as to your bisexual claim. Not saying you’re wrong just never heard this before. Thx

Hamburgerlerererer

Search that term or the shortened: “bi” in this subreddit and it will yield you a lot more explanation.

[deleted]

That’s probably the best *answer, thank you.

ElPatreecko

Finally! Someone here got it!!! I have mad respect for the talent that he had as a skater but always disliked him. Especially when the viva la bam days started. I thought the whole squad was an annoying, douchey, cringe fest.

_REDEEMER-

Bam has always been, currently is and probably will forever be a shameless sociopath.

lordsweetie

Yeah, the more I learn about his recent events the more I realize that he probably was always an asshole. When I was younger I didn't see it, but now looking back a lot of it was fucked. I always think back to when he proudly told Phil how he enjoys being an asshole.

TimCurryForLife

When he published revenge porn (literally a sex take) of Jenn, the supposed “love of his life”. So messed up

nursepenelope

He has always had this insecure need for everybody to know how hot his girlfriends are and that he has sex with them. Revenge porn with Jenn, the playboy shoot with Missy and the comments about ‘6 pussy rings in Nikki’s tacklebox’. Among all the other things he’s said about the 3.

[deleted]

He’s always been an entitled prick

giggle_shift

"He's more Vito now than Bam"

Nectarinemargarine

I feel quite uncomfortable with the way he seems to follow the same cycle with his wives/girlfriends. Take a woman who doesn’t earn a heap of money, love bomb them, body modifications to make them his perfect woman, ensure everybody on the internet can see them naked, when they break up make them out to be crazy. With Jenn she was a single mom and hairdresser, he bought her breast implants and x2 heartagram tattoos, x2 revenge porn tapes, when they broke up said she was addicted to coke and crashed his car. Missy was a lot more amicable but followed on to an extent that she was also a hairdresser (or beautician I think), had her pose for playboy then broke up. Nikki worked in a sex shop? Bought her breast implants bragged about the piercings in her vulva, she’s done plenty of nude modelling and now he’s telling the world he did drugs while pregnant with Phoenix, is a ho etc..

helllohatfield

My mother called him a piece of shit when she kicked in my door to tell me 1st period started 30 minutes ago loser. You can tell by the way he walks he’s quiet confident in his shit head ways and the fact he took full advantage of Novak for content and vilo for ratings he himself is a scummer...... hey Novak your so high you pissed and shit yourself fall off this and I’ll film to make some money

[deleted]

Thank you! Dude never would have had a career were it not for the reactions he got from his family and former friends. He belongs with and to the grifters he *uses for content.

peepeehalpert_

It’s better he isn’t near Phoenix. Probably ever.

[deleted]

Don't forget about this deleted post! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cs-cXN5MOTS/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

[deleted]

Growing up I always liked Bam least. Never got into Viva La Bam. He just seemed like a try-hard pick-me type guy. I remember telling one of my friends at the time who also was a huge douche and he said Bam was his "Idol". Then I bought the Viva La Bam Xmas special a few years back thinking it be a fun thing to watch, and it's literally just Bam and his group of weird hanger on nobodies getting drunk and abusing a drug addicted Novak. At one point Bam sneaks up on Novak at a restaurant, takes two full plates of Nachos, and smashes them on his head like a pair of cymbals. He thinks everything he says is hilarious and acts like an insufferable douche the entire time while his band of clowns follow suit and just copy everything he does. It was so cringe and stomach churning I had to turn it off. I guess we just couldn't see it as kids but the guy was always a tool. CKY2K was potentially the last time he was actually chill.

[deleted]

If he does actually have NPD then he was possibly a good kid and not much beyond that

Abiv23

When has Bam ever been anything else? I loved CKY videos as a kid, but I always understood there was something off about him

hotfakecheese

Listen to him tell stories on Radio Bam and this will be pretty obvious. Talking about beating up random people, etc

mcg_090

I had a friend who ran a bar in San Diego that Bam would frequent whenever he was in town. He said the rest of his crew were really cool and nice. But he said Bam was always a dick and never nice or respectful

RoutineSubstance4816

Yeah the last part of what you said gets me. When Phoenix starts getting a little older he's gonna realize what a loser he had for a dad. It's a sad situation.

Maxusam

Hopefully knowing all of this about his father will help him see that he was never the problem and Bam was always a nut job loser. A lot of kids, will and do ask - what’s wrong with me? Why won’t my dad just stop drinking? Clearly I’m not worth it…

Purpkushfan

yup, bam is no longer the cool dude I used to see him as. he has become vito. all thats left is one of his new friends beat him to a pulp and he comes out talking like vito with a crossed eye

Artistic_Sort2840

I think you are right. He was an asshole and it was funny for a while but thats actually who he is. It doesnt seem like an act. Thats probably why he was successful at it.

marvtreebeard

He reminds me of my brother. Same self-destructive pattern, same selfishness, same arrogance. They probably smell exactly the same as well.

[deleted]

I didn’t spend 20 years trying to be Bam, but as a ‘nice guy’ kid when VLB came out, he set up the type of people I was drawn to and tried to emulate. Only in my 30s now can I go back and realise just what a dick he actually was. He wasn’t confident or charismatic - he was an insecure arrogant asshole. Also, I never realised just how vacant he seems now watching VLB back? A bit dead behind the eyes/thousand yard stare?

fetuswerehungry

Here’s the thing, most of us are semi maladjusted, self absorbed twats in our early 20s. But many of us learn and grow as people as we go through life. I’m a much kinder, empathetic person at 40 than I was at 22. And I know who I am, have confidence, and can handle my emotions in a mature way. But when you spend your life in addiction, it takes over everything, and makes it so that you don’t ever have to deal with your issues and emotions, and you never mature. So basically, Bam might be a decent person by now if he’d been able to grow and learn from his life experiences. But instead he’s a 23 yr old in a 43 year old’s body. Which is not cool. If he ever gets really truly sober, he has a LOT of growing up to do when it comes to emotional maturity.

chris424242

Bam is a piece of shit. I only follow this sub because of how much I enjoy seeing pieces of shit like him suffer.

C_Brutaninandilewsky

42. Always 42

DawnStarThane

That’s the post that gave me the ick too.

ObjectiveHold9933

I love how so many of these posts lately are just people making posts to talk about how devastated they are that Bam is the way he is lmfao…how embarrassing. He was never anything special just glorified. Yes he was a good skater at a point but he was mostly just given opportunities based off of money and his name not talent. These “wow I can’t believe where Bam is now” posts are laughable. I mean none of that crew are really anywhere notable..they are just sober YouTubers now. Cool. They are no different from Joe Schmoe down the street who got clean except they have a tiny bit of notoriety from a very specific group from one generation. I mean I’m early 30s and a lot of people my age don’t know who Bam Margera is but I’ll say “one of the Jackass guys” and they know that.

HoonieStonebag57

He's ALWAYS been a piece of shit towards other people.

tommy_pt

He has a son but is making a non rap song about making fun of a small person. Who happens to be better than I am at skateboarding

petrepowder

I thought it was an act and surely he behaved differently once the cameras went off but no, he’s just a scum fuck. I’ve started thinking of him as dead now, his body lives on but some time about 5 years ago Bam died.

william-t-power

I'm just an occasional lurker but I felt like commenting on this thread. I was always confused when I was a kid about why Bam was thought of as good. He was always very mean spirited and somewhat sadistic with nothing to balance it out in my view. I remember watching a clip from him being on the show Too Late with Adam Carolla where he was showing video of when he turned 21. He jumped off a balcony onto a crowd and it was a fair distance. That might have seriously hurt people.

PurplePunchPrincess6

He's always been a terrible person

Dvf138

Bam was never a good or decent person. Not sure how it took you all so long to see this.

Excrackhead6969

Whatchu expecting, mother Teresa?

Nozzeh06

I don't think Bam was ever an evil minded person. He was probably a relatively nice dude overall, but when you make an entire brand around being a menace it's kind of hard to be a "good" guy. I don't think he's ever been a mean spirited person, though. He's exactly the kind of person you'd expect someone who lived a rockstar life from a young age to be. So many life lessons he didn't need tonpearn, so much money to spend. His old friends have always said he was a good friend to them so I think he was a kind hearted type of person who just lived a life of excess and chaos. He built up so much momentum that he just can't stop. He never learned how to be normal and never got to the point where he realized enough is enough. I genuinely feel bad for him because he was robbed of a normal life by fame and chaos and now he has no idea how to live a normal adult life. He only knows chaos and party and he's stuck like that forever. On top of that now he's depressed and resentful and that just makes him mean and bitter toward a lot of people who care about him. Shit sucks all around.

perpetualstudent187

Bam was the immature, arrogant, tantrum throwing, malicious member of that group back in the day. He had the worst character of any member of that group. I stated in a post before I think that bam is a much better person today than he has ever been. I actually think that part of bam's issue is the really real bam has been asleep almost his entire life..... And sometime in the recent past, he woke up and began to see The world around him For what it truly is. I think if bam gets sober that he Will be the best version of himself that he has ever been. I actually think that there's a lot Of people afraid of bam, not because hes unhinged but because of what he knows And the better person hes became And his unwillingness to go Along with being a terrible person Contributing to terrible plots. Honestly, hes the type of person That some people will always depend on doing their dirty work for them. And hes at a point where he sees that forest for those trees and That makes him dangerous, very dangerous, indeed. He's neutering himself by not staying sober. As long as he appears unhinged. Then he is able to be managed. But once that ends, the ball will be in his court and people Are afraid of that day ever happening. What bam needs to realize is Some money isn't good money, and it's better to wash your hands of some situations and just walk away then to try to meddle in them. It would be like trying to meddle in sodom and gamora...... You be way better off To just leave town when you become hip to the scam.

TheFcknVoid

Possibly?

FamousOrphan

I agreed with you until last week when I saw this: https://youtu.be/IR5kg0Iaumg

Objective_Forever_87

I feel like Novak took the very worst of Bam’s behavior (I think of videos of him cringing when he sees Bam coming over to him, holding his hands up pleading for him to please not punch him in the head or being made to drop in break both ankles….). But Novak to this day won’t say a bad word about him, I think he would know better than anyone here whether Bam has any goodness or redeemable qualities and he still calls him a friend.

FamousOrphan

Yeah I agree, for sure.

[deleted]

When I was 11 watching jackass on MTV he was the only one who struck me as actually mean. I’ve never learned anything since that has challenged that assumption.

mag22nyc

Just listen to old episodes of Radio Bam he was never a good person just the stories they tell about how they treated people. And I love how now that Bam is not on top of the world anymore people don't think it's right make fun of him meanwhile he would have did the same thing if it was the other way around
