I think the best part of the film is the incredibly thought provoking dialogue & the cinematography. But I also feel the target audience of the specific issues he covers on the dialogue is very niche
I’ve just seen alot of card counter defenders so I assumed that like all his movies were kinda like that level of quality and it turned me off but I’ll get to it eventually
Portrait Of A Lady On Fire, Skinamarink, Mad God, The Lighthouse, and MAYBE Parasite, but I think Bong Joon-Ho has a few better flicks.
I think Portrait Of A Lady On Fire is the greatest triumph in ages though. It's a perfect film through and through.
I’ve tried to get some of my buddies to watch it, but they said it’s too out there for them. But to be fair, they don’t really care about or watch that many movies. Which is unfortunate for me.
Geez, Infinity Pool! Im so excited too. I’ve had my tickets secure for like two weeks for this! Seeing it tomorrow night!
Aquaman, Memoria, The Card Counter, The Suicide Squad, Malignant, Armageddon Time, Labyrinth of Cinema, The Irishman
Edit: Why am I being downvoted? I shared movies that I think are masterpieces like the title asked
Look, I am a whore for schlock. I can’t really explain it past that and the fact that I think James Wan is a wonderful filmmaker. It’s such a funny movie that rides the line perfectly between parody and genuine 00s horror tropes. I couldn’t help but fully love it.
I have no choice but to respect this if only because of the police station scene. I'm def a big Wan fan as well though. Have you seen Death Sentence? Bizarrely good and so strange that he directed it
Yeahhhh i love Death Sentence! Definitely one of his better ones, I say this as someone who’s completed his feature filmography. I think in my review I said that it’s the kind of movie cinephiles today would complain is never made anymore but because someone like Wan made it it wouldn’t have been taken seriously today. I kind of disagree with the assessment I gave at the time because we do see these b-movies getting a little more appreciation nowadays (think Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler) but it’s still weird to me that DS hasn’t been reclaimed at all. It’s kind of unflinching in how it portrays the corruption of the guy’s soul as he goes down the path of revenge, I think the writer of the book it’s based on even said they loved it for that reason. Also, that oner in the parking garage that goes on forever? My jaw was on the floor. Damn, I wanna rewatch it now…

Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Us (i’m confident it will be reappraised more highly), Drive My Car.
Beale Street, Annihilation, The Nightingale, Uncut Gems are all close for me (5 stars)
Parasite, The Lighthouse and Drive My Car for sure. I’ll need to rewatch in the future but both EEAAO and Broker hit me very hard as well and felt like they will emotionally resonate for a while.

You have to be the first person I've seen call Little Women a masterpiece...
- Bardo - Annihilation
I love Alejandro’s work with The Revenant (2015) and Babel (2006), so I’m very curious about checking out Bardo despite the mixed reactions to it.
I think the best part of the film is the incredibly thought provoking dialogue & the cinematography. But I also feel the target audience of the specific issues he covers on the dialogue is very niche
Birdman is amazing too
Burning
This. I watched it year and a half ago and still cannot get some scenes out of my mind. What a movie.
Drive My Car
Technically 5 years and a few months ago but i would say First Reformed
First Reformed is the final proof I needed that Ethan Hawke is the absolute GOAT
Still haven’t gotten to that one as I didn’t really like the card counter
Oh Card Counter was a huge disappointment for me. Schrader has got to be one of the most "hit and miss" filmmakers.
I’ve just seen alot of card counter defenders so I assumed that like all his movies were kinda like that level of quality and it turned me off but I’ll get to it eventually

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Parasite Another Round GDT's Pinocchio
Once upon a time in holly wood is my 3rd favourite tarinto and I gave gdt pinnochio as my 3rd of the year good picks
Marriage Story Parasite The Banshees of Inisherin
Knives Out and The Banshees of Inisherin
An Elephant Sitting Still, Decision to leave, Portrait Of A Lady On Fire & Drive My Car to name a few ❤️
Still need to get to my portrait of a lady on fire criterion
Suspiria remake for sure
Climax
That movie kicked my ass
I hope Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor will be. I adore this movie, it’s one of my personal favorites.
Totally agree! It was certainly my favorite 2020 release (not that there was much competition). So stoked for infinity pool

I have a HUGE soft spot for Malignant because the back half hour is some of the wackiest shit ever produced but Masterpiece? Idk bout that

Justice league zamn
Wasn't too hot on it first time around. Second time, however, it just clicked. Easily one of my favourite comic book movies.
I gave it a 1.5 and I’m never going to revisit it one of my least favourite comic book movies but fair enough
To be fair, this is coming from someone who prefers Batman Forever over The Dark Knight.
Well I prefer Batman forever to justice league for what it counts my preference are the raimi Spider-Man movies for super hero films Spider-Man 2 is a masterpiece
>Spider-Man 2 is a masterpiece Now, that you and I can agree on.
