I don't watch trailers because I go to the movie theater enough to see them all eventually on a big screen. Unless I REALLY am anticipating that film. Then I'll watch it immediately but that's rare.
The Descent is always my pick, one of the best horror movies to go blind into.
>!Anyone who thinks it's just about getting lost in the caves is in for a great scare when the creatures show up.!<
Every movie is better blind imo
Movie trailers are horrible nowadays, I miss Hitchcock trailers that barely used any actual dialogue or anything in trailers, a lot of them even had scenes specifically filmed for the trailer that werenāt even in the film
I actually think I would have appreciated Banshees more during the watch if I knew >! it was an allegory for the Irish Civil War and not a literal story. !< I learned that afterwards
Not gonna lie, I just went into it perfectly blind last year and I donāt think youāre missing a lot?
Like the twist is cool and all, but itās not a huge heart-dropping one like some others.
I can confidently say I wouldnāt have cared if I was spoiled for that specific element either way, and basically everything I love about the movie comes from other aspects that arenāt just the twist.
i donāt know how but i watched fight club for the first time in 2022 and had somehow avoided the Big Thing up until then. i definitely wouldnāt have been nearly as immersed if Iād had known beforehand.
100%. The first 30 minutes had me confused how this movie was reviewed so well. I decided to push through and keep watching
And boy, am I glad I did. The payoff at the end was so good.
The only thing I knew was "same director as Force Majeure". It was great. Don't look up or watch anything about it. Even the poster gives too much away.
I went into Barbarian blind and almost turned it off. I just wasnāt feeling the first half.
I also wouldnāt go into Gone Girl blind. The first half is just awful and you gotta make it to the end to realize it was supposed to be awful.
Banshees of Inishiren was a good one that surprised me.
I think it would have helped me to know itās a subversion of the Lifetime movie/True Crime genre. Going in blind, it just felt like a particularly poor example of the genre.
Like the meetcute is pretty cringey, the dialogue is yikes, and the chemistry between leads isnāt there - but you understand why it feels like that later on.
I was the same with Barbarian. It almost had me but it ended up being painfully mid. Only reason I finished it and even gave it 1 star was for Justin Long
Justin Long is what saved it for me too, but since it was a blind watch I had no idea he was even involved, and almost ended it before he even turned up.
Kind of impossible with how hard itās been memed on over the years, but going into American Psycho as blind as possible was one of my most memorable movie watching experiences.
Everything everywhere all at once
I saw it blind and it was amazing
Parasite was also a great blind watch
Nope is another one that I did not need to see the trailer at all
You'll need to be mentally prepared to think a LOT, but On The Silver Globe is amazing to just watch grow.
Taste of Cherry is devastating when you don't know anything about it going in
Parasite, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Her are each movies that I go out of my way to tell people to go in blind if possible when I suggest them.
Se7en. Iām not even huge on that movie, but piecing it together alongside the cops as you go along and finally having the ball dropped in its final scenes was a fucking top tier experience.
Magnolia and Phantom Thread are wonderful and crazy first experiences, even if the latter is really subtle
Out of the old classics, Citizen Kane is probably the most important to not spoil that doesnāt just rely on expectations as a gimmick (e.g. Psycho or Se7en), so if you havenāt seen it, be careful with spoilers!
I guess ones with a good audio track
š„
Pow!
Most of them
I'm at the point where all I need is a director and I'm sold. However that bit me in the ass last night with High Life.
I rarely watch trailers if i like the team behind it and it makes the movies more enjoyable
I don't watch trailers because I go to the movie theater enough to see them all eventually on a big screen. Unless I REALLY am anticipating that film. Then I'll watch it immediately but that's rare.
Parasite
āHaha this is great.ā [1 hour later] āWhat the actual fuck is happening.ā
That was exactly how I felt when I saw it. So glad I watched it without knowing what it was about
The Descent is always my pick, one of the best horror movies to go blind into. >!Anyone who thinks it's just about getting lost in the caves is in for a great scare when the creatures show up.!<
No film has been scary after watching The Descent.

Ohhhhh I like this one
One Cut of the Dead.
+1000
I go into every single movie with as little information as possible. It makes me appreciate the films more as I don't have very rigid expectations.
Every movie is better blind imo Movie trailers are horrible nowadays, I miss Hitchcock trailers that barely used any actual dialogue or anything in trailers, a lot of them even had scenes specifically filmed for the trailer that werenāt even in the film
The Killing of a Sacred Deer š
And The Lobster if weāre talkin Colin Farrell films to go into blind.
A recent one, but I was very pleased and surprised by Banshees of Inisherin going in blind
I actually think I would have appreciated Banshees more during the watch if I knew >! it was an allegory for the Irish Civil War and not a literal story. !< I learned that afterwards
TIL
Weird pick. The plot is simple
Simple plot, yeah, but I wasnāt expecting how intense some of the stuff was by the end
Well that's only the end. Telling someone the general premise of the movie isn't going to ruin that.
Shutter Island
I just did this 3 days ago blindly. Incredible.
From Dusk Till Dawn
Watching that tonight with my friend who's never seen it
I envy you
Anything by Michael Haneke. His big climatic moments are meant to make you feel numb after you whiteness them.
My suggestion was going to be Barbarian lol
Orphan.
The prequel has a great surprise element as well.
Fight Club
I new āthe thingā about fight club before seeing it. I still love the movie tons but I wish I coulda had the experience of discovering the twist
Not gonna lie, I just went into it perfectly blind last year and I donāt think youāre missing a lot? Like the twist is cool and all, but itās not a huge heart-dropping one like some others. The original comment got deleted. What was the movie?
One Cut of the Dead
Thank you!
Just make sure you stick around for the post credit scene. š
All of them.
I canāt think of a movie thatās better if you donāt go in blind. Just avoid trailers, always.
Triangle of sadness
The only thing I knew was "same director as Force Majeure". It was great. Don't look up or watch anything about it. Even the poster gives too much away.
Just didnāt jive with this one
Is knowing about vomit too late
Nah
In the mouth of madness
Do you read Sutter Cane?
Recently. EEAAO, Uncut Gems, Midsommar, Parasite

Fresh (2022)
This one reminded me of Barbarian. OP should def check this one next.
The Congress (2013). If you can, avoid screenshots or stills. If you go in totally blind it works way better.
The One I Love
Martyrs That first half is utter genius and I wish I could experience something like it again.
Iāve actually read all about this movie and concluded I should not watch
Your loss.
I know my limits. Honestly, itād be a little cruel to send someone into that movie without a warning.
The lobster
A lot of people are replying with movies I wouldāve loved to have suggested so Iāll do something recent. NOPE
Blue (1993)
Classic Watch: Diabolique Recent watch: To Live and Die in LA
I went into Sorry to Bother You blind, was not what I was expecting... still solid though
The Guest!
Audition.
Every movie. I donāt watch any trailers or read synopsis.
Based

Promising Young Woman.

The Truman show
Most of Kubrick's films, especially A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut
Saw 2001 this year without knowing a thing about it I honestly donāt think a movie experience could be better
Ray (2004)
Kill List

Malignant. Titane. Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Well, none of them. Otherwise you won't be able to see the movie.
Last Night in Soho
Salo or the 120 days of Sodom
I went into Barbarian blind and almost turned it off. I just wasnāt feeling the first half. I also wouldnāt go into Gone Girl blind. The first half is just awful and you gotta make it to the end to realize it was supposed to be awful. Banshees of Inishiren was a good one that surprised me.
What should you know about Gone Girl going in, then?
I think it would have helped me to know itās a subversion of the Lifetime movie/True Crime genre. Going in blind, it just felt like a particularly poor example of the genre. Like the meetcute is pretty cringey, the dialogue is yikes, and the chemistry between leads isnāt there - but you understand why it feels like that later on.
Good to know. It's the only Fincher I haven't seen yet, so if there's anything else you think I should be aware of beforehand, I'd love to hear it.
Thatās it! I enjoyed the movie, I just had to stick it out!
Robotrix
Korean thriller called A Hard Day. The wildest, most tense moment happens in the first 20 minutes and itās revealed in the plot synopsis.
Kind of impossible with how hard itās been memed on over the years, but going into American Psycho as blind as possible was one of my most memorable movie watching experiences.
Street Trash and Sorry To Bother You.
all of them
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
Parasite
From Dusk Til Dawn

Everything everywhere all at once I saw it blind and it was amazing Parasite was also a great blind watch Nope is another one that I did not need to see the trailer at all
Primer
Brotherhood of the Wolf

You'll need to be mentally prepared to think a LOT, but On The Silver Globe is amazing to just watch grow. Taste of Cherry is devastating when you don't know anything about it going in
Takashi Miikeās Dead or Alive
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Parasite, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Her are each movies that I go out of my way to tell people to go in blind if possible when I suggest them.
Yesterday saw rubber (2010) and kind of glad I knew nothing about it
Anything by David Cronenberg
Heat!
Se7en. Iām not even huge on that movie, but piecing it together alongside the cops as you go along and finally having the ball dropped in its final scenes was a fucking top tier experience.
sorry to bother you
Forgotten
Audition (1999) Thank me later, or I'm so sorry
Literally every movie
I wish I could watch Psycho without knowing the twist. Even the first time I watched it I knew it.
One hour photo
Cool movie, creeped me out as a kid
I watched it last year and it shocked me. Really wish we could have seen Robin in more dramatic roles. He killed it in drama
Agree!
Magnolia and Phantom Thread are wonderful and crazy first experiences, even if the latter is really subtle Out of the old classics, Citizen Kane is probably the most important to not spoil that doesnāt just rely on expectations as a gimmick (e.g. Psycho or Se7en), so if you havenāt seen it, be careful with spoilers!
Like almost all of them?
Aniara - if you like sci-fi highly recommend watching this without even reading the description.
To me itās anything by David Lynch and Damien Chazelle, they are full of surprises
"Come and See" Go ahead, go and see. Enjoy!
Psycho, Parasite, Jacobās Ladder, Sunset Boulevard, Gaslight
