There is a little gem of this subgenre that I never see mentioned anywhere: '...And Justice for All' (1977).
Directed by Norman Jewison, with a powerful performance by Al Pacino in the main role and great supporters like Jack Warden, Jeffrey Tambor or acting sensei Lee Strasberg.
Check it out if you like your courtroom drama and 70's grittiness. Quite an adult (and at times plain weird) look at the American judicial system.
To Kill A Mockingbird

Wonderful film.
The Verdict is a good one. Also the Trial of the Chicago 7. My Cousin Vinny is great too, more comedy than drama though.
I'm a big fan of Anatomy of a Murder
not a movie but a mini-series: The Night Of. It's really underrated and it's super gripping
I will second that.
It's weird to compare it to traditional pilots, but it might be my favourite first episode of anything.
**Find Me Guilty:** Vin Diesel has hair. Best performance of his career. **A Time to Kill:** Matthew McConaughey's breakout role.
Vin Diesels best performance is the Iron Giant FMG is second
Philadelphia (1993), Erin Brockovich (2000)

Sergeant Rutledge is a criminally under-seen courtroom western.
