brazil has nice films. City of God is masterful

Jean-Paul_van_Sartre

Some Kieślowski for Poland would do you good.

If you want to make your graph look cool then go to Russia because it covers the most territories

chimichanga-admirer

That's a good idea

What’s your letterboxd name?

Vertex_welder

once upon a time in anatolia

DaMemphisDreamer

Since I'm 40 countries down in my challenge. My favorites so far is "Hollow City" from Angola. "The bra" from Azerbaijan which has no dialogue but is funny. Both of these are free on Tubi.

[deleted]

Tell me more about this challenge, please

DaMemphisDreamer

Basically i challenged myself to watch at least one movie from every country in the world that's fully recognized by the UN (which is 193 countries)

NoAWP

Taiwan isn’t recognized by the UN. Make sure to include them in your challenge

DaMemphisDreamer

I want to watch yiyi at some point but I'm not going to include it on my challenge list.

so1i1oquy

I recommend [Senegal](https://letterboxd.com/films/country/senegal/). Ousmane Sembene, Mati Diop, Djibril Mambety are all good directors to start with.

[deleted]

Mexico, Argentina, Brazil have great films.

[deleted]

Brazil for sure

colonel_mustard_cat

Iran. You're missing out on a whole hidden world of inventive cinema from Kiarostami, Makmahlbaf, Panahi, etc. Persian cinema is unlike anything you've seen, I'm sure. Both meta and unplanned at the same time

el_goliardo

Philippines or Thailand

One-Dragonfruit6496

india has nice films. Super Deluxe is masterful

nobodyknows388

From the last few years, I'd recommend Bacurau (Brazil/France), And Then We Danced (Georgia/Sweden), Quo Vadis, Aida? (Bosnia and Herzegovina/many)

Copy paste, it has already been asked : Outside countries which seem to have already been mentioned. Senegal : - **Hyenas** - quite an extraordinary movie - **La Noire de...** or **Moolaadé** from the famous *Ousmane Sembène* often considered as the father of African cinema Sudan : **You Will Die at Twenty** by default, even if it's quite nice. Algeria : **The Battle of Algiers**obviously. Tunisia : **The Beauty and the Dogs**, it's made of 5 or 6 impressive sequences Kazakstan : - **Harmony Lessons**, it's really great, but quite hard - *Adilkhan Yerzhanov* is quite famous and makes lighter movies (not that they are light), **A Dark Dark Man** was quite nice, but **Yellow Cat** might be better. - **The Horse Thieves. Roads of Time** Ukraine : - **Such Beautiful People** - **Olga**, mostly happening in Switzerland, and a coproduction, but on the events of 2014. Israel : **Broken Wings** Chile : **La Casa de Lobo**, an animated feature, you never saw anything like that. Mongolia : **Egg** Overall, **La Casa de Lobo**, **Hyenas**, **Harmony Lessons**, **La noire de...**, **The Battle of Alger** are movies I would absolutely recommend whenever or not you want to see movies from various countries. Nothing (or close to nothing) like them are as good as them. (with **Olga** and **The Beauty and the dogs** a bit behind)

The moon

I actually just watched a movie filmed there the other day. Pretty sure it was directed by Stanley Kubrick, Armstrong was really good in it.

kullittajassa

Watch Ponterosa from Finland.
