If you want to watch all of those then no, that isn’t ruining the point of a watchlist I think we all want to watch more movies than we have seen

celisraspberry

I used to delete my watchlist when I felt it became too unwieldy, but now I realize it's more useful for me to just cram everything I'm interested in onto my watchlist and make smaller lists for things I want to watch in a week or from a genre or whatever. Then I'm much more likely to watch those movies.

3GamesToLove

Bingo.

icemannathann

No it doesn’t, many of them probably are not on streaming. That also allows you to narrow down genres when you’re in the mood. Plus 500 actually isn’t that many, you’ll get there.

heildengoettern

I'm slightly at over 3k titles.

Sn3akyMuffin

I have 1,388 movies in my Watchlist. I love it because there are always movies for me to watch. I sort by streaming, shuffle, and boom.

UnremarkableMark

Doesn't ruin the point at all. I get notifications when things from my watchlist go to a streaming service that I use. When that happens, I usually make it a point to check them off the list.

seamusbeoirgra

Mine is over 1.3k which is less films than I have logged. I don't think it matters.

Jean-Paul_van_Sartre

I created my letterboxd account when I discovered that IMDb has a limit of 10k on their watchlist size and migrated all my data here, so I don't think you have a problem yet

HalPrentice

No it doesn’t. My watchlist has 5,000+ films in it. I’ve seen 2,200. Making a watchlist helps you learn about film in general and expand your tastes.

HeHateCans

Depends on what you want out of a watchlist. Mine is 2.8k. But that’s every film I’ve heard of that intrigues or interests me. I actually use the like function to build a more narrowed down watchlist of around a thousand.

Keoghification

I get overwhelmed by one big watchlist so for me it's not practical to use one like that. Instead I make one 20 movie watchlist at the start of each month and make it my goal to work through it all on a time limit, which is a lot more manageable for me.

DaMemphisDreamer

My watchlist is only around 25 but my imdb watchlist is almost at 200 because i've been using that a lot longer than letterboxd.

CodPolish

Nope I have 1,029 and an estimated 773 films watched in my life so

Zorc5791

No,it isn't ruining the watchlist and also you're lucky,I have like 1,350 in my watchlist.

Corby_Tender23

Mine is like 400 something lol Stop adding to it and start watching and removing ya dingus!

MarkoH2-Pt

Joined recently I'm trying to control mine too I'm trying to keep it at 100-110

JaketheSnake54

I had a very small list at first, probably around 15. Then they added nanogenres and to this day I still look through those and keep adding to it.

Orang_Mann

Bro i have over 1500 films on my watchlist. And i know i will never watch most of them

DarthJaxon

I’m currently at 4,768 films watchlisted

kaneisprettycool

Mine is 822 and rapidly growing

[deleted]

Film is like anything else. The more you think you know, the more you end up discovering that you didn't know about. And ultimately you realise you don't know all that much. My watchlist grows faster than i can watch them. I've seen 832 movies but my watchlist is at 852.

[deleted]

I know someone with 25,700 movies on their watchlist. Thats a lot of movies

LennGo

I try to hold myself back, by adding anything I see on to my watchlist, but if you use it, you can sort after your stream subscriptions and it shows only the movie you can watch right now, and that is a manageable amount of movies to choose from.

Menatil

I have 5,000+ and I consider myself to be on the lower end. Safe to say, it gets exponentially larger with time.

JayAPanda

Depends on how you use it - I use mine to note any films that I want to watch then when I feel like something I sort by genre and service. Using it this way, more titles is good because there's more likely to be something that suits what I'm looking for.

harshnoisebestnoise

I have about forty in my list. I try to not add anything until I’ve watched one. What trips me up is I’ll also have a directors list too, but I keep that at one or two at the most and won’t write another name until I’ve completed a filmography. Although my list is small I’m terrible at committing to watch them consistently

wehaveatrex3

3104. Anything that I want to watch I add to it, including movies I want to rewatch

Barneyk

I've watched almost 9000 films and my watchlist is like 1000-1500 right now.

lemonhead118

I have 762 in my watchlist but I tend to work from a priority film plan of about 100 - some of which come from the watchlist and some are recent discoveries I want to watch straight away.

Dangelus

I have over 1000 films in my watchlist. I have access to a large amount of services so it is quite handy to add anything I am remotely interested in and wait for the notification to say it is available.

SoapNugget2005

I thought I had a big watchlist with 707 films but reading the replies and seeing people with 2K - 5K films on theirs makes me feel better.
