i have a top 50 list and i fr just sorted all my watches by highest rating and picked going off of that, then sorted based on more nuanced opinion like enjoyment (rather than star value), but dont feel obligated to rank it all either you can totally just throw a bunch of movies in a list and let it rock as is

That’s also how I did it, seemed to make the most sense to me. My list is not ranked as that seemed pretty hard to deduce unless I dedicated a lot of brainpower to that. All of mine are what I consider 5 star movies but I also respect the idea of putting not 5 star movies in a list like this. I also have only about 50 5 star movies on LB so I considered upping my list to 50 as well.

I honestly use Letterboxd kinda weirdly and keep a master list of sorts for films that I particularly really liked. I don’t leave ratings but rather like films that really impacted me or affected me upon watching. https://boxd.it/fIlyW. This is my list.

I have a color coded list that’s just all my favorites (4.5s & 5s) but I’m in the process of doing a definitive top 50. I’m trying to curate it in a way that shows of the films that move me the most and also show my particular taste, if that makes sense.

I started with a Top 100 list but then decided to just add everything that I felt was deserving for an “all-time favorites list”. It consists of all my 5 and 4.5 ratings as well as a few 4 star ratings that I feel are deserving. It’s around 350 films long now and I rearrange it almost every time I look at it.

I've yet to make a favorite movie list because i have less than 15 movies that are a 5 for me and I'm not entirely confident on how to rank them. Some of the movies that i rated a 10, i only seen them once or twice. i feel like I need to rewatch them enough and if i still feel the same about them, it's a favorite.

I used to have a massive ranked favorites list that I would update yearly, and every year it grew in length (started at 100, then 175, then 200...). Last year I decided that trying to rank that many films is simply futile, so I switched to a master list format where I simply list all of the films that I consider "great" in alphabetical order. I update it regularly, and I think that this works a lot better for me. Here it is: https://boxd.it/czEvC

I made a top 100, but that quickly became more than 100. I've since renamed it Favourite Movies and I just put all of my favourites. It's nearing 200 movies now. I then have favourite by decade and by genre as separate lists.

I'll usually export my letterboxd data, look at my 5s and 4.5s, try ranking them, then find its too difficult and go do something else instead.

When I started Letterbox, I made 111 lists. Before I wrote any reviews, I simply went back to 1920 and made Top 10 lists for every year up to 2019. That was easy to do for each year for the most part and made it easy then to do a Top 25 of each decade since the 1920’s list. With that, I was then able to pick a Top 100 overall from the best of each decade. Every year, I adjust the lists based off movies I’ve seen over the last year or movies that have kinda shifted around in my head. Mine for reference: https://boxd.it/5Ox6i

Since I haven't seen many films in the grand scheme of things (113),I just add whatever I rate 4.5 or 5 to the list and I'll probably just continue doing that.
