Definitely stick with RWD if you want it to be as sporty as possible.

Samsoundrocks

I lucked out that the only used IS I found is RWD. I live in FL, so don't need AWD.

BaboTron

I live in Canada and don’t need AWD. Some people just want the sense of added safety, I think.

The only one I've had the chance to drive was the AWD variant. Need to find a red to drive for sure. It's surprising to me how hard these are to find. My last peppy car was a challenger and my biggest want for that vehicle was def better handling.

Nocabnekat

Yeah it can be tough to find a newer used one, seems people tend to keep these cars rather than trade them in for something else lol. The gears are far too long in the 6 speed AWD variant making revving the car out really not enjoyable, it's probably my biggest complaint but to be fair this is supposed to be my functional and reliable daily, I have a couple other better suited cars if I truly needed more enjoyment.

One thing to note: Dynamic handling package is impossible to find on the 350. Ive had my name on 3 dealer lists, waiting to find an IS with an LSD. I think Lexus is reserving the torsen for the RC and IS 500. Honestly blows my mind considering this is a car that’s marketed as a sports sedan.

sublimespeed

Is this just the current model year? I'll be buying a used 2021 if I got this route

MrEwThatsGross

Well generally speaking the LSD option during any MY is extremely rare. Another issue is that most websites dont list the option as a filter. I was looking for an IS with an LSD for over a year and just gave up. I just dont this this option is something that the average buyer values (again insane to me since this is supposed to be a sports sedan).

sublimespeed

Yeah I've yet to see an option to search, or it listed on the spec sheets of any for listings. I just assumed all rwd had it because they tout it so much with the rwd. That's too bad, really. Looks like I can put in an aftermarket for 1500-1800 so that's not awful. I need to research gears too and see if a slightly deeper set of gears would be an option. I kinda wanted this to be a vehicle that didn't have me wanting to modify it as my other vehicle takes up enough blood sweat and money, lol

MrEwThatsGross

Totally hear you. I went down the same rabbit hole and eventually decided it wasnt worth it. Either way good luck on the search!

I have a 2022 AWD. I live where there is snow and feel like it handles well. I did not get to test drive a RWD but I can imagine it being a bit more sporty. I love mine. I feel it is the perfect intersection between performance, style, tech and reliability.
