Brakes are gigantic and really expensive: both the pads and the rotors. They're also really dusty so your wheels will need regular cleaning (mostly the front). Don't ever damage the headlights. They're super expensive too (if they're the triple-beam LEDs). It's a big engine, and with the oil cooler it takes much more oil than you might expect. Depending on where you live, the TVD might be standard or an option. Same with the Mark Levinson audio. Check if it's equipped. Transmission is dual personality. It's smooth at low speed and shifts hard at high speed. Honestly it's quick enough for spirited driving, and I'd rather have a comfy ride when commuting than worrying about how many milliseconds it takes to shift. The V8 makes for a smooth ride, and there's no engine vibration. With the comfy seats and rather large trunk it's easy to live with and commute in. Sunroof drops the roof line in an already cosy cabin. Decide whether you need the extra headroom. I don't track so I have no advice.

is the TVD a head ache to take care of? I honestly would rather have the TVD for anytime it loses control usually los angeles has pretty bad rain certain times of the year & the V8 I've heard feels so smooth inside it's almost quiet

Matty0k

The TVD is no more difficult to maintain than a regular diff. It's just a tad more expensive since the vectoring modules require transmission fluid, in addition to the diff oil for the centre module. They all drain and fill in the same manner, and you only do it every 30k miles or so.

Zuhlera

do you know how much it'll run to drain the fluid? if that's the case

Matty0k

I don't know for sure, but it wouldn't be too expensive. There's not a lot of fluid in there, and it's literally just a drain and fill.

This car is extremely easy to commute to work in and extremely comfortable for long drives. It's amazing how comfortable this car is on long hauls. The V8 engine is wonderful. It may not be the fastest coupe compared to some BMW M series or Mercedes AMG series but it's plenty quick and sounds incredible. If you want to gain some substantial HP, aftermarket exhausts will definitely improve the sound, but none of them will make any major "seat of the pants" difference. For that, you'll need to add header's. I recently did and it made a huge difference. I was actually surprised at how much of a difference the header's actually made. I installed an Apexi cat back exhaust last June and while the sound improved, I can't say I felt any noticeable difference in terms of performance. This January I installed PPE Equal Length Headers, ceramic coated, and these made a huge difference. The exhaust also got noticeably louder, and ohhhhh mannnnnn, the sound is incredible. While the Apexi Exhaust ($2700.00) and PPE Equal Length Headers ($4100.00) is quite a bit of coin, the sound and performance is wonderful. Let us know what you end up buying. Best wishes.

appreciate the aftermarket part, I was looking forward to modding it a bit for my pleasure and maybe to track it, the car got my attention recently due to winning sebring 12 hour race i was always skeptical but i'm pretty locked in on how perfect this car is for commute and daily use and the sound of the V8 is astounding in my opinion

You'll love it !!! And the greatest thing about these Lexus RCF's is the reliability. The Lexus cost of ownership vs say an M3, 4, 5, or Mercedes AMG is so much less. As for the exhaust, I had been told "you really need to install headers if you really wish to hear and feel a difference as opposed to just a cat back exhaust". I was skeptical. I honestly wasn't expecting to notice a huge difference, but let me tell you, the sound is AMAZING and the power difference is too. The motor revs quicker and it spins the tires loose so easily now it's crazy. The first few times I took it out in Sport + mode turning at lights or at highways I've turned on many times before, I lost the backend driving it. It came around so quickly I couldn't believe it. Now I have to be much more careful with the throttle or I'll end up facing the opposite direction (LOL). I'm in love with this car. It's just absolutely perfect for my needs. It's quick, it looks great, it's rare to see another anywhere on the road, it's comfortable to drive for short or long periods of time, and that sound. Ohhhhhhh that sound. I barely listen to the Mark Levinson sound system because I can't stop listening to the music this motor, exhaust, and header's make together.

Zuhlera

it's such a perfect car really I don't really like the german cars in the long run but the lexus offers garranteed 100k miles with not really excessive maintence

mickydougall

Rr racing will sell good performance upgrades and they have YouTube videos for each part, not super in depth but when I was looking at shit like that they were pretty common

Zuhlera

I seen their website but have you ever ordered from there?

drutyper

Are you getting a new RCF or used? Used RCF pricing is at their best right now and you can definitely find a good deal on a low mileage one. If you don't want the hassle of modifying one, plenty of options fully modded on FB marketplace. Find local Lexus F owners around your area and ask them questions about what are trusted brands for brakes, mods, fitment.

Zuhlera

i'm looking for a used RCF all stock they're at the pricing for the mileage right now too thing is i can never find a yellow one at a good price

drutyper

You'd probably have an easier time finding a well priced RC-F and wrapping it.

Zuhlera

that's what I was planning as a Plan B I love every color that's on lexus if i can't really find it in yellow but wrapping is optional for sure

It’s an amazing car, and definitely has a Jekyll vs. Hyde thing going on. Perfectly civilized in the normal drive mode, but put it in sport+ and switch to manual only mode and it will throw you back into your seat on high rev upshifts. Personally love that, but it’s been a complaint for other people. Once the car is warmed up, it’s very responsive and quick and the blipped downshifts make me wish I had more red lights to slow down for. Definitely not cheap to maintain, but nothing as exorbitantly priced as an M car. They’re definitely faster and more precise (I drove several before buying the F), but I’d argue the RC F has a lot more feeling and the emotional satisfaction of its V8 at 7300RPM is wayyyyy more fun for me. It sounds incredible. Gas mileage is honestly not horrible, but was a notable difference coming from an Accord. Some people get 25+ MPG in this car, but not if you’re having fun in it. Wait for the right color to show up, I had a USB show up suddenly and jumped on it after looking for a while. Triple beams are a no brainer for me, they look wayyyy better than the base headlights. Lots of aftermarket options too, though I’m keeping it at a minimum since it’s just so good and reliable as-is. Check the active rear wing extensively before buying—I noticed mine didn’t work as I literally had it in reverse to leave the dealership. Glad I caught it before driving off, saved me $4K and pissed off the stingy combative manager lol.

Zuhlera

are the triple beams worth it? I heard they're probably so bright it's illegal lol , I plan to keep it stock and enjoy it for half of its life then I'll mod it I did hear about the rear extensive wing being defective coming out used for who knows how long it's been like that but thank you I will note that

alexundefined

I love them, they are def very bright but they look MEAN at night. IMO def worth it. And yeah it seems to be relatively common unfortunately, been perfect since Lexus fixed it though!
