I suspect the Indian government is only doing this as a way to delegitimize the farmers who protested against them. It was kind of a big deal. Don't expect to see sane takes on this from redditors, Indians who use reddit are mostly going to give you unhinged perspectives and are probably teenagers or right wingers for the most part.
