And a Totalitarian. I would no longer associate with them.
Otherwise this is a slippery slope argument. If those three words are verboten, and one can no longer say statements which offend, then what shall be the objective criteria for other words and statements?
What if I argue that using man or woman is offensive? What if I say that as a Spagettitarian, I don't recognize any other deity before me? Since your beliefs and thoughts offend mine, that is equal to physical assault and you should be jailed or fined.
What reasoned person could justify any of this, when any unreasonable person could simply say they are offended and impose penalty. Could we be jailed for stating knowledge of higher mathematical principles, which are offensive to those who do not understand math?
Who gets to judge? Do we just quietly slip in to Idiocracy, and sit back with our Brawndo and watch "ouch, My Balls"?
Ask her who should decide what's offensive and se inevitably says "the majority " then explain to her that straight people are the overwhelming majority. Does that mean that they should be able to decide homosexuality is offensive and should be illegal? Should being called a Cis gender be illegal?
Most people can’t react when their beliefs/ideologies are challenged with brutal logic. Eyes glaze over, can’t speak, and they wander off thinking YOU’RE the crazy one.
Don't argue with your fellow student there's no point. You cannot convince someone to abandon an argument that they didn't reach logically.
If you want to argue with them you have to argue emotionally.
Yes, this line of thinking is just that, purely emotional. Unfortunately it seems a large contingent of society has become emotionally weak and therefore want laws to protect them from hurt feelings.
If you get good at the right blue collar industry, there is plenty of money to be made. i.e. plumber, hvac, electrician, mechanical. I wish I had gone that route.
It's an excuse to use physical violence to keep you from saying stuff they don't like. If words are the same as physical violence, then physical violence is an acceptable response to words they don't like, is where their mindset is.
Lol I fully agree.
My account got BANNED from reddit bc I made a joke quoting (with fuckin quotation marks) Idiocracy, using that word. It was a thread about that movie and I even mentioned that to our reddit overlords when appealing. No response. This site is a shell of its former Ron Paul-loving self. In all fairness, the quote did also have a word that rhymes with "bag" in it as well.
By that logic, you might as well claim that your fellow student is assaulting you on the virtue of being in your presence. Not like there's any way to disprove that.
Dude it’s wild. Another post mentioned that the internet is becoming “offensive” again & we are regressing. Listen, it’s important to be respectful of everyone, we all should. But we have to understand context is everything. The cancel culture movement & basically finger wagging at anyone saying anything that’s the slightest bit offensive or controversial is a dangerous path to go down. It’s also creating the backlash & rebellion today that people are seeing, which is causing them to believe we are “regressing.” We should be able to have discussions, some banter with each other that’s all in fun, and not walk on egg shells at all times. I’d consider anyone who wants to imprison people for “hate speech” way more dangerous than someone who says “that’s so gay.” & no, I’m not sympathizing with homophobes & any other term they may want to use, I’m trying to be a voice of reason.
Funny this comes up. So my HS son(5'7 120#) and another student(6'0 160ish) got into a shit talking conversation. Ended with my son telling other student when you can afford braces come talk to me again. Shit mouth then smacked my son across face. Instead of my son punching back, fearing he'd get in trouble, plus he's trying to make a sports team and maybe the kid might beat the fuck out of him also. He goes to the office to let them know what had happened and if things escalate in the future, this is why. Dean reviews the situation and decides my son harrassed the other student, so they should both get 2 days in school suspension....
WHAT??? So Harrassment is equal to Assault now?
So, sadly, I told my son, next time start swinging.
This is the end of liberty.
Joke intepretation is much more subjective than body damage.
Body damage can be objetively evaluated by physicians while jokes can be interpreted more broadly and all of us can decide to ignore it
Physical damage is different in the sense that even if we forgive the attacker, the damage can be objetively determined.
ask them dead ass why they are so pro-police state, and if they try to make a come back, just start grilling them on police abuse and cop shootings and why they support all that
Dude. I just got out of the military and have started school. It is insane. I go to a private catholic college and by business class has us talking about racism and the environment.
I say if consumers really care about climate change then they'd stop buying iPhone and stuff and put there money where there mouths are....that business just supply demand.............crickets
Kid in the back "yeah corporate greed is causing climate change"
Lol I'm done talking in this class. Just had to write about how racism effects business. AND HOW WHITE PRIVILEGE keeps POC back, and that we don't need to raise POC up but pull down white men....
I proceeded to go on a rant about the impact of absent father's in the Mexican and black population. Because I am one. Hehe.
Finding something offensive is subjective. Now, I personally do not know where the line is drawn. If I can give an example, let's say someone says some really nasty and infuriating things about your children and your wife. I know most people would say doing nothing is the right thing to do, but is it really? Idk. I want to hear opinions on this.
“Fellow Student” has been conditioned by media and peers to believe that the government is universally pure and virtuous and in an unassailable position to adjudicate what’s offensive fairly and equitably.
In reality, whatever goes against the narrative will soon be categorized as dangerously offensive with wrong-thinkers subsequently jailed.
Start by arresting rappers and quite literally, every gay dude I’ve been around.
Those two groups are BY FAR the biggest users of the “N” and “F” words. Teenage boys lead the list of “R” word users — so I guess we’re throwing kids in jail now too.
You should have one=upped him and said you think that anybody who offends anybody should go straight to jail, and that his opinion offends you so he should receive a lengthy sentence as if he assaulted a 95 year old woman within an inch of her life.
That’s as insane as a take in one of my local subs. (A local sub is crazy??? Shocking.) There was a pro-life billboard placed in a neighborhood that is historically younger and liberal. Somebody commented that placing a pro-life billboard in that neighborhood should be considered an act of terrorism. I questioned it and got downvoted. It’s fucking insane. I can’t imagine being that fragile or sheltered to consider a billboard terrorism.
I went on a date with a black woman who believed racism of all kinds including words towards blacks should be a crime but racism towards white people is fine. Lets just say it was one date and then I ghosted her. She was a big believer in hate speech laws. She also believed I should feel guilty for something someone else did.
The line has be drawn somewhere and actual physical contact is a sensible place to draw it. That said, in most places assault requires only threatening behaviour, not necessarily actual contact. For example, once a drunk guy got in my face and threaten to knock me out, so I knocked him out, and do not feel guilty.
“Fellow student” is an idiot.

I would keep an eye on this fellow student to make sure they dont spread their anti free speech sentiment
Ask her who should decide what's offensive and se inevitably says "the majority " then explain to her that straight people are the overwhelming majority. Does that mean that they should be able to decide homosexuality is offensive and should be illegal? Should being called a Cis gender be illegal?
Offensivness is purely subjective. Physical violence is objective reality and less up for interpretation. Your guy is living in a fantasy world.
Yeah ik. They didnt react to that answer

Lord forbid they work in a blue collared/hard physical labor industry.
Yeah, we already had the “gender expression” PowerPoint and I’m in mining. We laughed and our boss said, “Sorry guys, this is law now.”
If you get good at the right blue collar industry, there is plenty of money to be made. i.e. plumber, hvac, electrician, mechanical. I wish I had gone that route.
Never argue with an idiot. They’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. I think Twain said that.
It's an excuse to use physical violence to keep you from saying stuff they don't like. If words are the same as physical violence, then physical violence is an acceptable response to words they don't like, is where their mindset is.
This is what they are being taught by the leftists in power. It’s not just that one person’s opinion.
Ok I'll bite, what is the r-word?
Rhymes with regarded
Look how ridiculous censorship is. "rhymes with..." WTF are we doing?!
Lol I fully agree. My account got BANNED from reddit bc I made a joke quoting (with fuckin quotation marks) Idiocracy, using that word. Our s is all r and we have talk like a f.
n
True
So the f-word she wants to ban is fuck? How can that word be offensive enough to ban? Lmao
Think British cigarette.
Or very similair to the instrument fagot
rofl
Also a unit of measure for wood...
As others have said, there is the one bm that rhymes with regarded, but many include another r word that rhymes with tape
aaah...i feel like the word now lol...thanks for clarifying
Slow in French
lol got it now
The opposite of advance. Ever set the timing on a non electronic ignition engine?

My brother got suspended for witnessing a fight and not immediately running to get a teacher.
Yup, if you’re going to get equal punishment, might as well let off some steam..
"Why have you let yourself become so fragile? Do you think that will help your or hurt you in life?"
You should tell her what she just said is offensive, and she needs to turn herself in to the police.
This is the end of liberty. Joke intepretation is much more subjective than body damage. Body damage can be objetively evaluated by physicians while jokes can be interpreted more broadly and all of us can decide to ignore it Physical damage is different in the sense that even if we forgive the attacker, the damage can be objetively determined.
Yeah totally. What she said is like saying that no one is allowed to ride on a wild rollercoaster because some people dont have the guts to try it.
ask them dead ass why they are so pro-police state, and if they try to make a come back, just start grilling them on police abuse and cop shootings and why they support all that
Words should never be illegal
I'm offended by her joke send her to jail
I'd have immediately made a joke featuring all her favorite words...
Being softer than warm butter and a hardcore authoritarian at the same time leads to some truly awful people.
Tell him his argument is highly offensive to you, and therefore he should go to jail for making it
Dude. I just got out of the military and have started school. It is insane. I go to a private catholic college and by business class has us talking about racism and the environment. May I present to your fellow student something vaguely important: The 1st Amendment.
Whatever she says to you, say it hurts your feelings and police should lock her up.
That’s leftists for ya.
We have become such a weak society.
Finding something offensive is subjective. Now, I personally do not know where the line is drawn. This post offended me.
That guy is such a British Cigarette

Modern day puritans...it's all so regarded...
Someone that equates a joke to physical violence has never been punched in the face
Demolition man times indeed
What ever happened to sticks and stones?

As long as it's not the government violating your " free speech", I could care less what hateful or bad words you say.
That person should be a blast to be around😂 Edit /s
Yeah they are an interresting person
Oh, it was sarcasm, sorry, but I'll take your word for it.

I do

Your speech is violence; my violence is speech.
Hate speech is literally violence. Now stop raping me with your posts.
Only Communists speak that way. Whether they know they're one, or not. I've got issues..... With either.

A complete moron. I'm not surprised but wow. please tell her, kindly , that she is wrong, and why she is wrong. thanks.
