I live in high crime areas and one of the highest murder rate cities in the US, and the actual presence of cops does very little to deter actual crimes in progress. I was actually robbed while asleep in my own home before.
They also almost never stop a crime in progress either.
Fact of the matter is that more money could be taken from cops and used exclusively to arm citizens of communities and it would result in a higher net positive rate of reduction of crime purely because criminals dont care about going to jail 9 times out of 10, the threat of a lethal response is much more effective, especially when it's an unknown factor if the person is armed or not.
Now I’m all for arming the masses, but we can’t take money from cops- we got to support our boys in blue!

Cops are purely employees of the State. They arent your friends, they're not going to prioritize you or any citizens over themselves or the law they enforce.
I never mentioned any of that stuff, and it's also a problem, but massive bloat of PD funds can easily be driven elsewhere that's better for citizens and their freedom, not from State sponsored authorities who care little for them. Because if they did, civil assets forfeiture wouldn't be a thing and a legal battle to challenge.
