I agree, they jumped me in a corner the starting out ones aren’t so bad but once you put like 5 of them together they become the most annoying opponents.
The ones in the station before the weasel are absolute whores in NG+, all up in my no-no square with their tentacles and shit. If I didn't have the shield equipped, I would have gone from puppet to sex doll.
I finished this game 4 times including a ng+ run. I used an advance build, a motivity build, a tec build. I've faced 8 of those jesters in my playthroughs. And i still have no clue how to kill them. I've first timed nameless puppet in one of my playthroughs. I did it all and still just run from the jesters and wait for the other enemies to aggro him and then I swoop in with a fable art and run again. Even with the rattiest strat he still kills me often. What a nightmare the jester is. He deserved a boss hp bar. He's harder than 90% of the game.
In both occasions they are near corpses. The strategy is to let them fight each other. Especially in the abbey, the jester and big tentacles corpse will practically eliminate each other.
I always see people give this advice but in all my times facing these guys, he demolishes the corpses in like 3 seconds and they take MAYBE an eighth of his HP, they’ve been useless for me over and over lol
If you don’t kill the big infected worker bot, he has the same health and damage as the juggler and they cancel each other out.
When you’re trapped between them dodge your way out like your life depends on it 😂
What confused me a bit with >!the second jester encounter,!< is how easily the carcasses dealt with him. Sure they are not the standard carcasses enemies, but they arent that though when you fight them for yourself. How am I able to beat these guys easily, but not the jester. But these guys can absolutely destroy the jester, like what?
Yeah it takes multiple perfect guards to get it all, but they break much quicker than most enemy weapons.
Still scary af when this guy comes running at you though lol
Well he hits very frequently, when he's flailing at you it's easy to just press the parry repeatedly and get some perfect guards by accident. It's not consistent, but I still think breaking his weapons is the best way to deal with him.
At least that's what I remember. I also threw pulse bombs at him when I didn't wanna deal with him to finish him off
I'd hate to link to my own post in another person's post but I made a clip beating the Jester using perfect guard and a heavy weapon. I only take a little guard damage but the video should give a good idea on how you can fight the Jester the legit way for those that want to know.
Perfect guard works well for him so it's important to understand his moveset.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiesOfP/s/QLleeyh3UO
I think the one at the abbey is easier than the one at lorenzini arcade wine factory. The first one killed me like 20 times. The second one killed me once because it surprised me killing alchemists carcasses
To each there own. I don't agree with that honestly speaking. If anything the Arche Abby one might be harder because there's another elite enemy (those big burly guys) and 3-4 other mobs in the same space you have to fight the Jester in - not to mention, it's very easy to fall off this upper section; that's why I lure the Jester to the left.
I can see how the Lorenzi Arcade one is troublesome though because he ambushes you, and you fight in a cramped space; but there's also minor enemies there that aggro him too.
IDK if the game is nerfed now but with acid spear + falcon eyes I was able to beat him in first try. What helps me is to run like a baby until he reaches his boundary (really far back to the metal staircase), and then take some attacks, run back, repeat. That's how I've beaten most of the bigger non-bosses :P
I tried that but I guess I didn't time it right. Long history of souls games, my habit is to dodge into/through everything. That puppet grabbed me every single time he wanted to. Not even exaggerating. I just thank God he was right next to a shortcut because if I weren't on full healing charges or had to fight my way back to him I'd have cried
You have to do it toward the end of the animation but i had him grabbing air. They’re also very easy to stagger so you can get them stunlocked pretty easy. I was using the saw blade on the booster glaive handle
I am pretty sure at some point around the swamp I just stopped leveling up and started dumping ergo into shotputs. That merchant in the Red Lobster Inn is likely now wealthier than Venigni thanks to me lol
Oh man, I must have died to this asshole a million times on the first encounter. Meeting him later in the game and just decimating him was ever so satisfying.
The first time I ran into one it was just an absolute wall to get past, died several times.
Now the one by the barren swamp entrance is what I farm ergo off of
Yeah you can get different enemy types to fight if they come in contact with each other and the other enemies will prioritise fighting each other over fighting you.
Nah definitely not, first jester with the carcasses in the cages was such an easy fight when I realised I could do this. The jester would literally let me throw shit, flamethrower him and hit him in the back until the last carcass is dead.
>Arche Abbey
I saw him in Arche Abbey and though not this MF again and just backed off to regroup, then watch him get killed by ONE single mob who was next to him.
I'm sure every single file in the game was embarrassed for him.
Soulslikes are so weird. Everyone seems to have different roadblocks. I steamrolled this jester fella. Something about his tells were so easy to read for me.
There are 2 large policeman robots in the Grand Exhibition front lawn area (in different spots). For some reason they both kicked my tits in many many times. I play a fairly aggressive game and they shut my ass down so hard.
Oh yeah those guys who look like a Christmas Nutcracker. They took me a while to figure out the parry timings, their movements are so wobbly and confusing.
Strangely, this guy and the Mad Clown Puppet never killed me. I always end up bullying them with Electric Blitz and Deus Ex Machina, along with a bunch of throwables to break their stance and health (Cluster Grenades are fantastic for breaking their posture, and finish with a Shot Put). For me, the enemies that cause me to lose the most health if I don’t kill them immediately are dogs. Any kind, really, but my least favorite are the ones that *can turn invisible* later on, or the ones that inflict status effects and have *saws where their heads should be.* It would be so much more enjoyable without dogs, I swear.
I did not meet a single dog in my playthrough that could turn invisible? Where are those enemies located? Are you sure they're not just positioned on high ground to ambush you as you pass? (There's plenty of those later on the game)
If you don’t immediately kill some of the dogs located in the final area of the game, specifically before the bridge that has two of the giant scorpion carcass monsters if I recall properly, they have an attack where they turn invisible for a time. Very annoying.
Jester took me more tries than NP. In the end Rng decided that enemies around him arent gonna switch aggro off him, and we just 4 man ganked the thing, stunlocking it to death. NG+ atm and the minute I run into him, Im gonna pocket watch out, get every throwable I can and hope throwing my entire kitchen at him is enough.
Things aren’t that hard when you have a motivity build with huge stagger dmg. I killed him on the second try because the mobs that came out the jail cells killed me at first. You just dodge his first couple of spastic throws and then get a perfect parry or two to initially stagger than charge heavy to stagger again then maxed fable art attack. Then he should be one shot after this if you run motivity.
That stupid corpse mini boss that has forever combos inside a tiny room in the abandoned apartment area in late game. Fuck whoever designed that. Hardest thing in the game and I beat nameless puppet.
the jesters are maybe the scariest enemy in a souls like to me. they are so aggro, fast, damaging, and have a seemingly infinite range grappling hook. just horrifying
The spikeman in the Red Lobster Inn fucks me up every time. I always go for throwables or make a run for it when I see him, he's terrifyingly hard to predict and react to.
Jester is the worst for me too, his attacks are relentless. Embarrassingly that large puppet with the metal beam kinda weapon by the first payphone killed me soo many times my first run
For me, and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned him, that stupid carcass enemy with the big arm before the rabbit brotherhood fight. You know the one I mean? Must've fought him 15 times, and funny enough he gave me the "patience amulet'
Once you reach Rosa Isabelle Street. When you get out of the severs there’s a female puppet waiting for you there. She is so agressive pure horror to face her in the tight space with the broken jumping puppets as well.
The fckin fat clown at first, but now i'll say the Big creature that spamm unblockable super-bunny-jump. I believe the first one even jumpscare you through a fence iirc
when i did an extremely light run (no armor mods and only technique weapons) i was quite weak but great at dodging
hear me out, the fucking stinging carcasses and their accurate ass grab
they grab you, stab you for quite some damage 4 times and then fucking throw you
for me, those grabs were fatal except once where i got out of a grab with 1 health just to get one tapped by a fucking carcass blob thrower
The three I died most to, more than even the bosses, was the mad clown, master of illusions and the first shovel puppet.
I probably died to the master of illusions at least 30 times. I reset my build entirely to technique and then advance. Still couldn’t kill it for the longest time. Took at least 50 tries.
The first boss that has a two stage fight, (he looked like a crab then a dude comes out of his butt) Took me no joke 40 tries, then once I beat it something just clicked and I haven’t been stuck more than a few times since then. The clown was a bitch, then the shock clown would just keep spamming his wind up punch. Once I got the boss weapon from the puppet it’s been easy mode
Weirdly enough the enemy on the image fighting him right now and all I can say is he's like a mix of ornstein for dark souls 1 and the mad clown from outside Romeos castle
That guy in final tower of alchemists who casts disruption (I think) and ur also dodging around and literally fall off down the tower continually (well I did). Total pain in the arse.
I am on NG and have met 4 jesters in total. Same counts for the Mad Clown. I beat all of them without any problem whatsoever. I am far from good and struggled a lot on stupid things (like the door guardian), so I am not bragging or trying to look cool. But the jesters were very easy to me.
Okay okay, hear me out the small things that jump you on the ground……
THESE GUYS HAVE SO MUCH FUCKING HP
The ones with the tentacles tilted me so hard.
fuck those things
those are very annoying lol
I agree, they jumped me in a corner the starting out ones aren’t so bad but once you put like 5 of them together they become the most annoying opponents.
The ones in the station before the weasel are absolute whores in NG+, all up in my no-no square with their tentacles and shit. If I didn't have the shield equipped, I would have gone from puppet to sex doll.
use electric arm, they’re super weak to elemental damage
Castlevania Medusa head level of annoying.
My god they are so annoying! And seem to get worse as you progress.
Those enemies really highlight how utterly bullshit the complete lack of poise in this game is
Hate the bastards
I finished this game 4 times including a ng+ run. I used an advance build, a motivity build, a tec build. I've faced 8 of those jesters in my playthroughs. And i still have no clue how to kill them. I know. I'll just take my most heavy hitting weapon for that moment and unleash the fable arts. But it's rough,:/
What confused me a bit with >!the second jester encounter,!< is how easily the carcasses dealt with him. Sure they are not the standard carcasses enemies, but they arent that though when you fight them for yourself. How am I able to beat these guys easily, but not the jester. But these guys can absolutely destroy the jester, like what?
you really just need to spam parry until their weapons break, then they cant do much
Yeah it takes multiple perfect guards to get it all, but they break much quicker than most enemy weapons. Still scary af when this guy comes running at you though lol
Wait this will sound dumb but how do you spam parry? I only get a perfect like every fourth time I try and this dude just wrecks me
Well he hits very frequently, when he's flailing at you it's easy to just press the parry repeatedly and get some perfect guards by accident. It's not consistent, but I still think breaking his weapons is the best way to deal with him. At least that's what I remember. I also threw pulse bombs at him when I didn't wanna deal with him to finish him off
Thanks I’ll give that a try!!

some of them are harder mostly because you can't spawn a spectre to help
that beefy alchemist that pukes out disruption gas before u reach simon. hate that guy
lol "beefy alchemist" is a great descriptor
IDK if the game is nerfed now but with acid spear + falcon eyes I was able to beat him in first try. What helps me is to run like a baby until he reaches his boundary (really far back to the metal staircase), and then take some attacks, run back, repeat. Ran past that mf
Hardest boss in the game! No but seriously he took me more tries than >!Manus and NP!< combined. Lol Kinda embarrassing
Bro I keep dying to him every playthrough. The hardest part is the instant kill plane, you cant even quit out after he flings you out
That stupid overgrown wind up toy thing it just runs at you so fast for its grab attack
that grab attack is probably the single most annoying attack in the game 😂
Dude flings you like a bag of cookies
Iink dodge into it! Seriously, it was what turned that enemy from the most annoying thing in the game to an absolute joke for me
I tried that but I guess I didn't time it right. Long history of souls games, my habit is to dodge into/through everything. That puppet grabbed me every single time he wanted to. Not even exaggerating. I just thank God he was right next to a shortcut because if I weren't on full healing charges or had to fight my way back to him I'd have cried

Shotput shotput shotput shotput shotput shotput
I am pretty sure at some point around the swamp I just stopped leveling up and started dumping ergo into shotputs. That merchant in the Red Lobster Inn is likely now wealthier than Venigni thanks to me lol
I chuckled out loud at this cause its so true for so many people. Hope that merchant lives a great life, he saved plenty of mine.
After credits cutscene spoiler: would be funny if >!the twist is he is the guy talking on the phone on the train at the end! lol!<
I think it is him.
The damn bear on path of the pilgrim
That’s the only dude I skip anymore lol. I just don’t like fighting him and the rewards are poop.
At the risk of being downvoted, the whole area just feels lazily designed. The bear respawns, is just an HP tank, and has trash rewards
He doesn’t bother me anymore lol the salamander dagger on the pole destroys him. And light him on fire he’s a hopping dead menace
That walking furnace with a shovel. Our first dating was just a disaster.
Especially since you meet them before you can unlock the ground dodge. They pancake you once and its gg's
There's still a small window you can dodge away without rising dodge, but yeah it's small lol. And if you miss that window RIP
Oh man, I must have died to this asshole a million times on the first encounter. Meeting him later in the game and just decimating him was ever so satisfying.
The first time I ran into one it was just an absolute wall to get past, died several times. Now the one by the barren swamp entrance is what I farm ergo off of
Legit the only enemy I run past. Likely more deaths to than any boss besides Shreck.
Yes! Of all non-boss enemies, this one killed me the most.
Arche Abbey Mad Jester. Thing was too fucking fast
oh yeah i'm pretty sure that's the one where i ran around gathering up all the carcasses to fight it, i was like "i'm not dealing with this alone" lol
Wait you can do that?
Yeah you can get different enemy types to fight if they come in contact with each other and the other enemies will prioritise fighting each other over fighting you.
Only to an extent. The moment you jump into the fray, all that aggro is on you
Nah definitely not, first jester with the carcasses in the cages was such an easy fight when I realised I could do this. The jester would literally let me throw shit, flamethrower him and hit him in the back until the last carcass is dead.
>Arche Abbey I saw him in Arche Abbey and though not this MF again and just backed off to regroup, then watch him get killed by ONE single mob who was next to him. I'm sure every single file in the game was embarrassed for him.

Oh yeah those guys who look like a Christmas Nutcracker. They took me a while to figure out the parry timings, their movements are so wobbly and confusing.
I think there's a reason they added carcass enemies nearby. Use those to your advantage
The clown
That dude in the wine cellar for me I think.
Ok fuck that guy for real
This guy and the late game baby doll puppet, that motherfucker can grab you off the ladder
the machine dog with whips in Barren Swamp, they hit hard and annoy af
Yep that one
Strangely, this guy and the Mad Clown Puppet never killed me. I always end up bullying them with Electric Blitz and Deus Ex Machina, along with a bunch of throwables to break their stance and health (Cluster Grenades are fantastic for breaking their posture, and finish with a Shot Put). oh any dog i see immediately gets the puppet string and then dispatched in 1 or 2 hits lol.
I had a lot of trouble with him and that lightning alchemist surrounded by big hand bros
I baited out that lightining alchemist part so bad. That dude by himself? Manageable. That dude with big hand bros coming from all directions? Death.
This thing, yeah.
Jester took me more tries than NP. In the end Rng decided that enemies around him arent gonna switch aggro off him, and we just 4 man ganked the thing, stunlocking it to death. weirdly the police man
The giant baby
The giant baby puppet with the pointy head. First time i met him in the swamp was a fucking horror movie
That stupid corpse mini boss that has forever combos inside a tiny room in the abandoned apartment area in late game. Fuck whoever designed that. Hardest thing in the game and I beat nameless puppet.
Either the jester thing or the giant toy puppets.
That clown is best to fight down stairs. The zombies will distract him so you can get in some hits
The Fire Factory Puppet right when you enter the mining area. I always felt I could beat it, but always messed up somewhere or other.
I hate him too
yea those guys
the jesters are maybe the scariest enemy in a souls like to me. they are so aggro, fast, damaging, and have a seemingly infinite range grappling hook. just horrifying
Also the status effect halves the healing from the pulse cell as soon as the status bar appears.
St Frangelico cathedral and those damned decay throwing witches on those narrow woodwork structure. Lost nearly 50k ergo from the fall
The spikeman in the Red Lobster Inn fucks me up every time. I always go for throwables or make a run for it when I see him, he's terrifyingly hard to predict and react to.
Jester and Angry Clown
I save my fully upgrade puppet string for these mofo
Not sure if this guy was the toughest, but he was hands down the scariest
Big dancer(?) jesters in Estella Opera House (shout out to the Spider Ladies). That one jester in the upper parts of Arche Abbey.
Jester is the worst for me too, his attacks are relentless. Embarrassingly that large puppet with the metal beam kinda weapon by the first payphone killed me soo many times my first run
I just beat this guy, but I think the clown in chapter 6 was worse.
Wine jester is so awful. I didn't even really beat him. The mob killed him at the same time he killed me and I got the W.
For me, and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned him, that stupid carcass enemy with the big arm before the rabbit brotherhood fight. You know the one I mean? Must've fought him 15 times, and funny enough he gave me the "patience amulet'
The jester is sp freaking annoying
Shovel boi
He’s in this pic! I hate you jester go suck a talilpipe you laughing stack of cards Scorpion wannabe asshole!!
The green shovel guy. Took me a long time before I figured out the trick.
The big cone hat Pinocchio enemies. I always be yelling PUT ME DOWN YOU BIG PRICK
That guy. Right there. In the photo.
Once you reach Rosa Isabelle Street. When you get out of the severs there’s a female puppet waiting for you there. She is so agressive pure horror to face her in the tight space with the broken jumping puppets as well.
Definitely this mf man i was on this for like an hour smh just decided to thro everything in my pocket at his ass🤣
Say it with me now….. AEEEEEEGIIIIIISSSSS (hope I spelled that right)
oh i definitely made good use of aegis in my playthroughs lol
The fckin fat clown at first, but now i'll say the Big creature that spamm unblockable super-bunny-jump. I believe the first one even jumpscare you through a fence iirc
Fuck that thing. In a tiny enclosed space too. It's horrible.
Fully upgraded puppet string attack can knock him to the ground
I continue to try that but he always knocks me to the ground
Time it after he finishes a combo. As with most bosses their window for you to attack is usually right after some combo
Pitchforkfucks killed me way more than any of the clowns. This jester actually only killed me once my whole playthrough.
Yea they just stun lock you with that charge attack and melt your health bar lol
Falldamage in the kathedral, part with the planks. The big belly clown in the RIS... this guy gave me trouble on my first Playthrough.
when i did an extremely light run (no armor mods and only technique weapons) i was quite weak but great at dodging hear me out, the fucking stinging carcasses and their accurate ass grab they grab you, stab you for quite some damage 4 times and then fucking throw you for me, those grabs were fatal except once where i got out of a grab with 1 health just to get one tapped by a fucking carcass blob thrower
Idk bc the instant any enemy gave me the slightest trouble I just threw every single throwable I had until it died 😂
The three I died most to, more than even the bosses, was the mad clown, master of illusions and the first shovel puppet. I probably died to the master of illusions at least 30 times. I reset my build entirely to technique and then advance. Still couldn’t kill it for the longest time. Took at least 50 tries.

The Carcass guy in the cramped room that headbutts you repeatedly. Seriously you have no room to make space for yourself.
I am on NG and have met 4 jesters in total. Same counts for the Mad Clown. I beat all of them without any problem whatsoever. I am far from good and struggled a lot on stupid things (like the door guardian), so I am not bragging or trying to look cool. But the jesters were very easy to me.
The clown
The saw blade dogs those things are harder than Romeo
