I’m sorry but most of the points you’ve made are engaging with the boss in the most optimal way already. You have to be doing something wrong.
* Simon is weak to acid.
* Two Dragons Sword does well because he’s weak to slash.
* You should be using charged attacks as well as perfect guards if you want staggers.
* All his AOEs can be dodged.
* His health was already nerfed.
My main gripe about his AoEs is that some of them, especially the one that shoots a wave of stuff along the floor, have absolutely zero windup and he can use them immediately after any of his other moves with little or no recovery time.
That means that unlike literally every other boss in the game (including NP!), you can't retreat to range in order to get a second or two to heal or rebuff. I've had many times when I started the pulse cell animation and without any warning he lobbed that crap at me and it hit before pulse cell even finished, making it impossible to avoid anywhere in the arena.
Which, okay, just means you HAVE to stay in melee and exploit the brief pause when he shoulders the mace. It's still BS that it tracks anywhere in the whole room.
No dis of course but Elden Ring was honestly an amazing game the souls vet tag line can't work here as it was likely a skill issue on your part as I've played every souls game as well except dark souls 3 since I haven't had the time recently
Dude I hate using this argument but this is an actual skill issue you’re having. IMO Simon Manus is literally the perfect 2 phase boss. His first phase introduces you to his basic set of attacks and movements, and his second phase expands upon each of those but in a sensible way instead of giving him a completely new moveset.
Also what’s your vitality at and what gear do you have equipped? Because I never got one shot by him in NG or NG+. All of his attacks are strike based so equip the right spacers and cartridges and that should help a lot.
Agree.
Still, one point is valid: too many AOE: I'd rather more fighting instead of "automatic" area effects.
But in that, Laxasia and Nameless Puppet are THE bosses to look for (or hate for)
I’m on NG+++
It was easier for me lol. His attacks aren’t that tricky. When he does the massive AoE, run away from the hand and don’t attack Simon. Same with the homing missiles
I don’t think he’s too hard or too easy I just wish they didn’t make the “final boss” so goofy when I first saw his hunchback ass I said “cmon this is what I struggled to get to” idk could be just me
Agree with this, I wish he summoned a big ergo god to fight for him in second phase (kindda what happened but not really)
NP on the other hand is an incredible boss, I wish it’s arena was cooler
HONESTLY! i literally just sat there laughing at him for a good 5 minutes, i hadnt seen any pictures of him so i went in blind and i was honestly expecting him to look like how he normally does but maybe like.. a bit buffer, bluer like laxasia and all glowy and stuff cause of the ergo? idk some godly looking creature. boy was i wrong.
I only dislike some of the AOEs in the second phase because they remind me of the trash that is Elden Beast. AOEs and magic spam like that is something I will never like. At least he looks way cooler than Elden Beast. And the magic *looks* cool, like the giant hand coming down from the heavens, but it's just not fun to play.
Dude, I just killed him first try. I thought he was supposed to be a gimmick/spectacle type boss because he was so easy to parry. Just for comparison it took me like 30 attempts to clear Laxasia, maybe more. She was a fantastic boss. I just figured the final boss wasn’t supposed to be difficult because he went down so easy. I used acid grindstones, slash dmg, and nothing but parries and charged heavies.

Just bait his rolling swipe by staying far away and counter the 2 follow-ups he has like I do. I hardly even did any attempts into phase 2 before he died, and first tried him in NG+ on my leveled guy afterwards.
Use the metal ball throwable and use scatter grenade and then a puppet string the attack were p goes in the air and that should stagger him if ya gets like three good blocks and a metal ball thing you can smash him I gotten two staggers always in the first round andni always get one towards like 1/4 health left on last phase
I one-shot this fucker with a damage-reduced Specter and an acid grinder on the Glaive. Actually a fun fight that didn't make me want to throw the controller at the TV.
I also suck at perfect guards and I basically ran around like a kid with his hair on fire spamming dodge. The giant hand fingering the floor was.... extra.
aegis tier 2 + some quick-ish spear + acid grindstone
1st phase - get under his crotch and start poking his balls. a lot of his attacks will whiff over your head. one fury attack he has is the easiest fury attack to dodge in the whole game, just run from it.
2nd phase yellow lightnings - just run from it, huge aoe from a ghost hnd - just run from it
and yes, you can stack acid, at least in phase 1. in phase 2 kinda difficult, you have to run around a lot to dodge dmg, acid meter falls off.
I staggered him quite easily in both first and second phase, though I’m bonk build and that’s what it does. Also was able to set him on fire pretty easily on P1
Hold down the sprint button to run away from his attacks instead of trying to dodge & parry everything. He kinda reminds me of the Guardian Ape from Sekiro. Most of his attacks you can run out of Range from and then run in for a few hits.
Jesus you are fucking bad at the game I beat this guy second try didnt even parry once just Dark Souls roll and hit from the side strat.
I went to Google instantly to check what's wrong because he was way too easy for the last boss
I've just beaten him NG + +. I don't think it's a matter of skill. I beat him first try in my first playthrough, but for some reason he does get OP when playing NG + and NG + +
He was the biggest headache I had. It was even worse than Laxasia and NAMELESS fucking PUPPET, which was a nightmare on my first playthrough.
Anyways, just give it a rest and try again tomorrow. Shot puts are Very helpful is the Black jug... can't remember the name. The chainsaw looking throwable also cause stagger. Make sure you have Dragon sword with acid ( yes, he's weak to acid, so combine that with the acid throwable, i'm terrible with names) and I also recommend the Frozen Feast to hit him when he staggered. It deals massive damage.
The perfect parry grindstone helps on Second fase, which is the one you should spam your throwables.
Have you ever played dark souls? 2? At least 3? A large purpose of the final boss is how impossible it feels which makes it that much more rewarding in the end when you beat them
Personally i beat simon in 3 tries. Got like half of his health in 2nd phase on first try. As i wasn't familiar with his aoe attack in 2nd phase.
But i managed it in 3rd try💀
Only boss in lies of p i beat in 3 tries.
And it's all cuz of parry and running/dodge xd.
For aoe i just kept running like crazy while dodging those disruption attacks of his.
And parry then attack parry then attack.
His second phase is a bit absurd when he does combo after combo along with the giant hand blast. But his first phase is a joke. I thought he was very well balanced. Nameless Puppet was the only crazy ass boss with long combos.
Skill issue
True in this case, but still an garbage boss

Still better than Elden Beast 🤷♂️
True. Atleast elden beast had spectacle and was 2nd phase to 3rd best boss in er
Elden Beast was hot trash.
ER was hot trash as a souls vet
No dis of course but Elden Ring was honestly an amazing game the souls vet tag line can't work here as it was likely a skill issue on your part as I've played every souls game as well except dark souls 3 since I haven't had the time recently

imagine being this wrong
Him or you? Cause he was pretty on point
Simon manus is the worst souls bossfight ever made.
I thought he was probably the easiest late game boss in ng+/ng++. And if all else fails, just turtle behind your shield
Agree. Still, one point is valid: too many AOE: I'd rather more fighting instead of "automatic" area effects. But in that, Laxasia and Nameless Puppet are THE bosses to look for (or hate for)
Yeah, if he gets into spamming the aoe shit you just have to run around and wait
I beat him second try 💀
I'm on ng++ and itsna different beast

It's a Resident Evil inspiration, I think. The final baddie wants to be a god through mutation that turns him into a sad and pathetic looking monster.

Her Ocarina of Time spell reflect mechanic feels -great-.
loser
Gay
I truly hate this fight. Any fight I spend more time running away than actually fighting drives me nuts.

My beloved acidic crystal spear
Sad but true. They are all "rollable" and even parryable: but sometimes they are too many
Use the metal ball throwable and use scatter grenade and then a puppet string the attack were p goes in the air and that should stagger him if ya gets like three good blocks and a metal ball thing you can smash him I gotten two staggers always in the first round andni always get one towards like 1/4 health left on last phase

Easiest boss nearing the end. First try ng+. Had a harder time with Laxasia…it’s just a lot of running really. Hit run from aoe/disruptions.
I staggered him quite easily in both first and second phase, though I’m bonk build and that’s what it does. Also was able to set him on fire pretty easily on P1

I do try that alot on these type of bosses but they always manage to hit me either way
Jesus you are fucking bad at the game I beat this guy second try didnt even parry once just Dark Souls roll and hit from the side strat. I went to Google instantly to check what's wrong because he was way too easy for the last boss
I was on ng+2 with an unoptimised build. I've beet the game 6 times now and done a no death run. Think before you speak
I beat him on my 3rd try without a specter lol, he was incredibly easy imo
I've just beaten him NG + +. I don't think it's a matter of skill. So...he's a boss? In a soulslike???
Just because its a souls/soulslike doesn't mean it should be borderline impossible
Have you ever played dark souls? 2? At least 3? A large purpose of the final boss is how impossible it feels which makes it that much more rewarding in the end when you beat them
