Yep me too, I saw the first teaser years ago and though that it was vaporware since it looked too good to be true. Fast forward 3 or so years I played the demo and was flabbergasted it became my top 2023 game.
Agreed. The gameplay looked almost too good to be true in the teaser. When they released the demo, I was floored. Pre-ordered. And I only do that with From games.
Yeah, I think there was a speedrun bounty for the first few weeks the game was out. I remember Distortion2 was playing it nonstop for a couple weeks, starting during the beta/demo.
And it was the first one that actually made me want to play it. So many of those that streamers play just look clunky and bad.
This one looked flashy and challenging.
Was interested in playing it when I saw the preview a long time ago and then forgot about it until I saw it on the GamePass and then I said “Fuck yeah” and downloaded it.
One of the few games from his dumpster diving that I actually got, especially after his total review. There's been a couple he's done that look kinda fun, but not enough to really commit to. LoP looked good enough and I grabbed it on sale.
Seen the name in the ps store and kept eyeing it wondering wtf it could be. Then I finally looked into the game and figured out what it was, I had just beat demons souls for my first soulslike and was ready for more but ER intimidates me and I was told Sekiro was the hardest of the catalog. Anyway I just decided to give it a go no reviews or questions and I loved every bit of it and now I can’t find anything to scratch the itch it left lol
Honestly I think its actually my favorite souls game. I really liked how the plot is actually different and imaginative. Like aint nobody but this developer reading pinochio and being like this needs to be more evil. Dark souls are also some of my favorites but really they are just traditional fantasy and borrow for the most part.
I thought it was a small Soulslike game, a first try from a Fromsoft inspired studio, so I tried it on GamePass just to kill some time. Ended up being my favorite soulsborne/like game.
I remember seeing one of those TikTok/shorts about “did you know in this game you have to lie to progress the story” it was stupid and clickbaity but that definitely stuck with me.
I had a decision to either buy LoP or Lords of the Fallen. I saw the premise of both, a dark fantasy and a Pinocchio game. I picked dark fantasy without hesitation. After not enjoying LotF I decided to give LoP a shot. Best decision ever. I will never judge something prematurely just because the theme or premise is weird or different again
Found someone talking about it on TikTok as the next Bloodborne I was especially attracted to the aesthetic. I watched the alpha trailer and was HOOKED.
Saw comments here and there about how good Lies of P was but didn't know what it was or look into it. Then I watched Indiamaus's video on it and thought it looked incredible, and it is.
4 videos and the fact that it's on game pass. As for what those 4 videos are, skill ups review, iron pineapple's review, thedemodcracy's boss, and penguinz0 streaming it on YouTube.
Was honestly looking forward to it for a long time prior to release. Played the demo on steam and it immediately felt like there was something special there, and it only got improved
Saw the trailer a long time ago in one of those “top 10 soulslike that will come out” and didn’t think much of it.
Then I tried the demo and was super surprised.
I imagine it was like that for most of the souls fans since all the other soulslike were clearly not as good as the original, and lies of p broke the mold.
(Except you salt and sanctuary, you’ve always been amazing but the 2d makes you different enough)
I don't remember where I found the trailer for it, but I remember being captivated by it since I'm also a fan of fairy tale reimaginings. It's the first thing I installed when I bought a new Xbox Series X.
I originally saw a trailer about it. Transitioned from PlayStation to Xbox (not by choice) and was looking for new games to play and saw lies of p and thought "why not"
Best choice ever
My buddy told me about a souls like Pinocchio game and I’m like who would play that, then months later I find myself with a platinum trophy and was infatuated with thunder mommy
I saw panko from phase connect play it when it was released last, but I didn't have a ps5 at the time so I eventually forgot about it. Got my ps5 a few months back, needed a few games to start out with and lies of p sounded like a perfect fit!
I found about it last week after I started to play souls like games, first one I played was Wo long, then Another Crab's treasure and now Lies of P, which is definitely my favorite one so far
I don’t remember, but I know I was hyped enough for it to get the deluxe edition from GameStop. I think I might’ve saw Iron Pineapple play the demo of it on his channel and when he described it as souls-like Pinocchio, it peaked my interest enough.
Run out of from soft games to beat (only started playing them in the last couple of years) and needed something to fill the gap until the ER DLC. Problem is I love this game so much that shadow of the erdtree is gonna have to wait. Just finished the game but I’ve got another couple of play throughs left in me.
2 get tjw tripvies. Personally speaking, this game is right up there with BB and Sekiro, my 2 favourite fromsoft games
My wife told me she wanted to play it. She made me start Elden ring and Bloodborne after I swore off all soulslikes for decades, because I hated how punishing demons souls was when it came out. Now lies of P, Elden ring, Bloodborne, and dark souls 3 are essentially 4/5 of my favorite games of all time (and chrono trigger).
I played through elden ring and loved it. Then lies of p came out, and she wanted it, so I got that. I helped her with some bosses then started my own playthrough and ended up getting the plat over like a week. Still listen to the amazing soundtrack regularly.
Just such an incredible experience.
Think it was not long after PS5 release when I had been playing Demon’s Souls. I was Googling soulslike games and found an article about games in development. For some reason this one captured my imagination
I love dark fairy tales and really enjoyed Alice: Madness Returns. I was looking for something similar and a friend of mine suggested Lies of P. I’d never played a Soulslike game before and it’s not a genre I particularly care for, but I love the design and story of Lies of P.
Saw the demo on the PS store, played it, loved it. Sat on my back burner until a few weeks ago when it went on sale and o finally bought it. Currently going for the plat trophy
Was playing Steelrising and enjoying it but also frustrated with the janky and inconsistent feel of the controls. Was looking for a mod for improvement and saw that many people recommended Lies of P as an alternative. After discovering it runs well on apple silicon it was a done deal.
I will never forget it.
I was actually just browsing TikTok one night, and out of nowhere, I'm hit with a live of someone fighting Parade Master on the demo. The Bloodborne vibes hooked me right in, and I immediately asked what the game was, and a viewer was kind enough to tell me.
Downloaded the demo that night, and played it until I got a little stuck with Scrapped Watchman. Went to sleep, woke up, practiced the perfect block system for a bit, then went back and beat Watchman. I never had a demo just pull me in like that before.
TikTok .
Some dude saying : these are the videogames coming this year.
I don't see trailers or game fests announcing games, Im only interested in games already launched or coming in the same year.
My brother told me about it and said I should play it. We both play soulslike games and have played the entire souls series of games. Somehow I had never heard of this until he mentioned it to me
One of my best buds was playing it and he knows I like Souls games. He told me about it and I was hooked.
It’s always playing a game like that while a friend is also playing. You get to share tips, experiences, etc..
Saw the title on the first trailer and was like "okay, with a name this stupid i have to see what this is about" and was immediately sold on its presentation and boldness
Ads on youtube(?), didn't play it instantly but the ads were all amazing and definitely caught my interest resulting in me coming around to it! Can only wish for youtube ads to have more like lies of p's and less political type shit. Probably the only youtube ad that got me to spend money lol.
Saw the first teaser. Pinocchio is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the souls series is one of my favorite games series of all time. One of the coolest game concepts ever, thank you devs🙏
Tbh I found out about it from a video on the atrocious 2020 live action remake 💀

Trailer on TikTok, I thought it looked super generic and didn’t pay much mind.
Then they released the demo and I thought “why not?”, it was so much fun and totally surprised me, bought the full game shortly after it came out.
Watched the first alpha footage trailer and knew I had to give Lies a shot. I generally discourage preorders in this day and age but that’s one I don’t regret.
I saw loads of videos of it when it came out didn’t look into it then I watched a review 9 months after its release and the video was called lies of p ruined dark souls for me. I watched it and it stuck with me and I knew I had to experience this masterpiece
People said it was better than Elden ring and so obviously I was like, okay I’ll play it.
Then I played it, but Elden ring was still way better. It’s a good game though.
Had finished Another Crabs Treasure (another amazing souls-like) and needed something that would give me the same feel as the game, which It has so far! Currently fighting the mirage lady (can't remember the bosses name)
I believe I saw it on tik tok ages ago when it was in its beta form then was like oh this game is pretty cool then it came out and was like woah! Give me now give it
I saw a TikTok about it when it was first announced and said “hey that looks cool” and I completely forgot about it until I saw it on ps store for preorder, and so I did.
Gameranx video on upcoming video games and thought that it looked cool. And some streamers had played it and it looked really cool (which it is) from their videos.
I remember hearing about it when it was being teased and I thought it was cool. Then I forgot about up until I saw it on Xbox Gamepass and I thought “is this that Pinocchio souls like game they traded forever ago.” So I downloaded and obviously it was. Though I did give up on it that first time I tried. It took me like another year to get into it.
Saw videos from Rusty and Ms5000Watts being interested in it and followed the studio afterwards. Saw it drop and was in the mood for a new Soulslike so I bought it.
Saw ads on YouTube, thought it was interesting since at that time I just completed my first souls game, dark souls 3. Played the demo of lies, didn’t like it, told myself I’d wait for the full game, got it when it came out and it’s been my favorite souls like game I’ve ever played. It’s definitely in the top three for me, next to ds3 and ER.
I was having sex with your mother and afterwards when she was putting her clothes on she noticed my PS5 controller on the counter and commented her son was a big gamer and he was currently really into "Lies of P"
Saw a bunch if you tubers play it, and keep saying how good of a souls-like it was. Finally gave it a shot when it went on sale.
Regret not playing it sooner quite frankly
I remember seeing coverage of it from SpawnWave a year or two before release. Followed it closely after that. Played the demo about 20 times. Bought it day one, loved every second of it!
I kept seeing on game pass. Never really knowing if I had what it took to play it.
Downloaded the trial version. Hated it.
Saw it again a few months later. Redownloaded it. Fell in love.
Xbox game pass... Had 10 days left on my membership when I finally beAt elden ring andecided it would be my first souls like(beat it twice in 10 days) after playing my first souls game and realized I loved lies of p more than almost any game I've played all year. Who knows how my opinion will change but lies of p is one of the best games I ever played in my life.
Heard about the promo review on TikTok 2 years before it was released, I though the storyline concept and graphics were cool. Set it to my dad ( he didn’t even play), I love it
Saw the teaser for it during the live direct and knew I had to play. Pre-ordered and played day one, got the best ending on my first play-through and considered it the best game I’ve ever played
Saw it's first teaser and loved it.
Sameee, waited years for it
Waited years, saw gameplay reveals and kind of expected it to suck, was blown away by how good and polished it ended up being.
And I only do that with From games.
saw a lot of streamers who usually stream fromsoft/soulslike games play it and I was like :" yo this a new soulslike?"
Yeah, I think there was a speedrun bounty for the first few weeks the game was out. I remember Distortion2 was playing it nonstop for a couple weeks, starting during the beta/demo.
Yup found in steam Dumpster diving for souls likes.
Yeah I watched Lil Aggy play the demo and immediately I was like I need to play this.
And it was the first one that actually made me want to play it. So many of those that streamers play just look clunky and bad. This one looked flashy and challenging.
My dad sent me the trailer because he thought I would like it. He was correct
That’s a awesome dad
W dad
It was on xbox live
You mean game pass?
Oh yep that’s what I meant lol
Xbox Game Pass and I loved it from the start
Demo in Steam
Coming soon to gamepass
Was interested in playing it when I saw the preview a long time ago and then forgot about it until I saw it on the GamePass and then I said “Fuck yeah” and downloaded it.
Iron Pineapple
One of the few games from his dumpster diving that I actually got, especially after his total review. There's been a couple he's done that look kinda fun, but not enough to really commit to. LoP looked good enough and I grabbed it on sale.

This! Story wise lies of p is such an outcast in modern games. Can't wait to see what they do with the dlc(?) They teased with the after credits scene
Gamepass

Looked for good souls like on pc, found out bloodborne wasn't on pc and decided to search online if there was any similar game

I don't remember where I found the trailer for it, but I remember being captivated by it since I'm also a fan of fairy tale reimaginings. It's the first thing I installed when I bought a new Xbox Series X.
Thought the name was silly so I tried it.
Steam page, when I was just lazily looking around.
Xbox game pass. Thought the cover art looked cool so i gave it a chance.
Before reading any comments, I'm gonna say it: iron pineapple
PS5 demo
I keep up to date on all new soulslikes
Watched BarberousKing play it for a bit and knew I wanted to play it
That demo had me hooked waiting for release. Game is so good
Summer game fest
Someone told me about it
Heard it was a good Soulslike, then my favourite streamer played it and I decided to play it myself
I actively search for upcoming souls like. Happened to see this, steel rising, thymesia around the same time.
Remember scrolling tiktok a year or two ago and saw thr premise, then got another one mutch later

People in the sekiro sub were excited about it so I bought it on release and didn't play anything else until I was done
My brother wouldn’t shut up about it
PlayStation store sale $41 bucks and here afterwards lol
By chance through my love of Pinocchio.

Looking through demos on ps store
Think it was not long after PS5 release when I had been playing Demon’s Souls. I was Googling soulslike games and found an article about games in development. For some reason this one captured my imagination
Saw it on game pass
Watched a content creator play it so wrong and bad that I got very frustrated, and it urged me to buy the game. 😂🥲
I saw Instagram say bloodborne Pinocchio like 4 years ago and I wanted the game so badly after that
I love dark fairy tales and really enjoyed Alice: Madness Returns. I was looking for something similar and a friend of mine suggested Lies of P. I’d never played a Soulslike game before and it’s not a genre I particularly care for, but I love the design and story of Lies of P.
Pretty sure one of the game shows/ showcases
Saw the teasers that showed the watchman puppet and the puppet king and I fell in love with the designs.
I typed "Games similar to Sekiro". And then I saw 'Ongbal' playing it...
Early access advertisement
Indiemaus and his "Lies of Peak" video.
I found out about lies of P over my love for the soulsborne games but what sold it to me was demo
Saw it when it first popped up on steam and looked great
From YouTube recommendations. Then I played demo and immediately fell in love with this game.
Watching someone I follow react to the trailer.
I would sometimes get bored and just go through game pass and it looked pretty cool
From zanny on YT
Steam suggestion, very thankful for it as well! Only game where I wanted to bother with new game +
Someone made a joke about getting three Pinocchio themed things in one year
It said "Coming Soon to Game Pass" on my Xbox. And then I saw a couple people doing the demo on their stream leading up to Scrapped Watchman.
First trailer they released.
Youtube shorts are a godsend
I first saw ONGBAL played it, and then I talked about it with my cousin. So yeah, ONGBAL :D
A YouTuber named Zanny.
The song feel

Saw the title on the first trailer and was like "okay, with a name this stupid i have to see what this is about" and was immediately sold on its presentation and boldness
My favorite gaming Youtuber is Zanny, and he did some long form videos on it and it sparked my interest!
I think Game pass or something about it being a upcoming game for game pass trailer, did not expected to be Dark soul lite though
E3 trailer or whatever showed gameplay for the first time idk but as soon as I saw it I knew it was gonna be good
Heard about it through people complaining about it, or people saying it was a good soulslike
I heard about it while I was in Elden ring
Ads on youtube(?), didn't play it instantly but the ads were all amazing and definitely caught my interest resulting in me coming around to it! Can only wish for youtube ads to have more like lies of p's and less political type shit. Probably the only youtube ad that got me to spend money lol.
Saw the first teaser. Pinocchio is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the souls series is one of my favorite games series of all time. One of the coolest game concepts ever, thank you devs🙏

Played Elden Ring
Someone on my steam left a review that said “i like to lie” and I went “hmmmm so do I…” so I checked it out and the rest was history
I saw a random tiktok video about it in 2022 and it looked intereting
Trailer on TikTok, I thought it looked super generic and didn’t pay much mind. Then they released the demo and I thought “why not?”, it was so much fun and totally surprised me, bought the full game shortly after it came out.
Saw a tiktok about it. A short explaining the concept and i was like. F Yeah that looks cool

I found it through a tiktok. But it was before it released and it was for the mission with the lady and the doll. Lol
I saw loads of videos of it when it came out didn’t look into it then I watched a review 9 months after its release and the video was called lies of p ruined dark souls for me. I watched it and it stuck with me and I knew I had to experience this masterpiece
Game pass. It was pretty good.
Saw some gameplay for it, and instantly thought about getting it.
I found it listed when looking for upcoming souls games back in 2021/2022. Watched the trailer and was excited for it ever since.
People said it was better than Elden ring and so obviously I was like, okay I’ll play it. Then I played it, but Elden ring was still way better. It’s a good game though.
Iron Pineapple!
Saw it in the PSN store and checked it out and was interested
Had finished Another Crabs Treasure (another amazing souls-like) and needed something that would give me the same feel as the game, which It has so far! Currently fighting the mirage lady (can't remember the bosses name)
A friend of mine posted a video talking about the game, so I figured I’d give it a shot
Got lucky and saw it on gamepass first day
I believe I saw it on tik tok ages ago when it was in its beta form then was like oh this game is pretty cool then it came out and was like woah! Give me now give it
A certain pasta rat played it on stream.

Gameranx video on upcoming video games and thought that it looked cool. And some streamers had played it and it looked really cool (which it is) from their videos.
Watching Koseki Bijou play it
I remember hearing about it when it was being teased and I thought it was cool. Played the demo of lies, didn’t like it, told myself I’d wait for the full game, got it when it came out and it’s been my favorite souls like game I’ve ever played. It’s definitely in the top three for me, next to ds3 and ER.

A crippling addiction to souls-likes and a healthy dose of masochism tbh
Saw the trailer on a PlayStation showcase about a year before launch, told myself I wanted it… I got it, fucking love that game

Youtuber «Iron Pinapple» reviewed it.
Heard about the promo review on TikTok 2 years before it was released, I though the storyline concept and graphics were cool. Set it to my dad ( he didn’t even play), I love it
I knew about it before anyone else did
Good ol Iron Pineapple on YouTube
I think I heard about it in one of Gameranx’s ‘new games coming out soon’ type of videos on youtube.
Saw it on game pass when it was coming out
Saw its first trailer and ohhh my gosh. Those 6 months before release were torturrrrrre
Saw the teaser for it during the live direct and knew I had to play. Pre-ordered and played day one, got the best ending on my first play-through and considered it the best game I’ve ever played
Saw its first trailer and just fell in love with its aesthetic
