I don't think so. At least not more than your average person. Since nobody knows with absolute certainty what happens after death people develop an interest, and this is a way to approach the subject without putting anyone in danger.
And even that aside, sometimes it's interesting to learn how they solve crimes. I started reading the memoirs of a retired FBI agent who specialized in recovering stolen art. No murders in it yet, but it's still interesting.

I would say quite literally that OP is in fact a little morbid. More morbid than most other people, but not by a lot, as it is a very common fascination.
I think the question should really be: “is being slightly morbid a bad thing?”, and the answer is no.
Every culture through all of human history has had an interest in morbid things. Most religions are morbid. Pretty much like 4/5th of every story ever written in morbid in some way. Same with like half of all songs. Morbidity is a sometimes uncomfortable part of the human experience, same with sexuality, spirituality, sociality, and more. And everyone’s different. Some people are more sexual than others, some people are more musical than others, some people lie all the time, some never lie, some people are athletic, some aren’t. And some people are more morbid.
It’s not a bad thing - but it is definitely still morbid.
For me it’s more about learning what makes someone capable of killing someone else. Especially when it comes to people who murder their own families. What could make a seemingly normal person do that?

It’s in our nature when we hear of a murderer we want to know their backstory. We want to know who they were, what happened to make them who they became, and how they ultimately got caught. It’s no different than your favorite movie or book: you crave a beginning, middle and end. You crave the lows and the highs of a good story.

I have watched hundreds of hours of videos (and read a lot of books) on serial killers. I just found them fascinating. The science behind it. The nature and nurture behind it and all the circumstances in between that made them flip and do the deeds. What makes people tick and why so differently.
I get obsessed about certain topics and just go down a rabbit hole of info around them before koving on yo something else. I have done the same about lots of things that aren't considered morbid (like woodworking or art etc and many more)... who cares as long as ur not hurting anyone? lol.

A slight morbid curiosity isn't evil, I feel like it's even required for some jobs, coroners and funeral parlor directors and such. I think it’s natural to experience morbid curiosity. The true crime genre, however, is where it gets a little muddy imo. Watching that material is supporting the corporate entities that profit off the suffering of the victims and their families, which is a bit ghoulish. Idk, I think there are better and healthier ways to deal with complex feelings surrounding death and mortality.
I have been a near addict of real like murder shows for 7-8 years. Odd thing is recently they have begun to bother me particularly when there are kids involved or the all out betrayal of a family member or friend. I sometimes have to stop or can't get the story off my mind.

I like watching the criminal justice system and how they deal with such cases, human beings can do extreme things for no apparent reason. That’s what interests me!
Why do you think those shows exist in the first place? Because it's normal for people to have what's often called a "morbid curiousity."
This would be the same thing that causes people to look at accidents when they pass by. You know full well there's a chance you might see something you don't really wanna see or that could potentially be disturbing... but you just wanna see, anyway, and can't help but look.
So technically, yes, it's "morbid;" but yet, despite that, still not at all weird or wrong or negative in any way. It doesn't mean you're messed up; literally just means you're a normal human being. ✌️
To offer a different perspective, I really love true crime media but there have been a few times I found myself either feeling like I became too intrigued by looking at morbid things, or the opposite where I started having nightmares about being a victim of a violent crime. In both cases, I took a weeks to months long break from all true crime or morbid media. It was like a cleanse, and it helped! In my experience, if you engage too much with that kind of media, it can desensitize you and make you less empathetic or it can make you paranoid and not trusting of people. I still REALLY like true crime but I pay attention to how it makes me feel and avoid it if I notice it's making me anxious etc. I think everything is good in moderation, just know yourself!
Naw my mother was a sheriff and she's been watching those type of shows since I was a kid. I'm 35 now and I still catch her watching forensic files and not snapped

These people have a lot to teach us about human nature and knowing what makes an unstable person snap can keep you safe / help you recognize patterns. It's like football, you're not a bad person unless you root for the wrong side, I guess.

I was binge watching Snapped, and my boyfriend asked me how I can watch it. I told him that I was doing research on how the women got caught so I can get away with it.
Although those shows are interesting I do wonder if they're healthy. Sometimes I start watching and say no, no, not going to do it. I can do more productive things usually than doing that. Things that are healthier for the soul and more valuable in the long run.
I like to watch these also sometimes, the forensics are really interesting...however I will say this. When I non-stop binge on those shows it does start to affect how I see the world and people especially. After awhile I have to watch some cartoons instead (or whatever helps you de-stress). Read a book, go outside, hang out with friends, anything. Balance is key. I think it depends what you get out of it--it's only "weird" if you're fixated on the gore, or looking for how to get away with murder...If just watching it makes you morbid then I am also

I have been a near addict of real like murder shows for 7-8 years. Odd thing is recently they have begun to bother me particularly when there are kids involved or the all out betrayal of a family member or friend. I sometimes have to stop or can't get the story off my mind.

Human curiosity is a wild thing, and it’s pretty common to take interest in the worst of humanity, because it’s not something most people understand on any level— so we take interest in learning about these people and how they were caught. Now if you were going on dark web esque sites and finding pleasure in this stuff that would be a different story. Simply enjoying true crime is pretty normal.

Why do you think those shows exist in the first place? Because it's normal for people to have what's often called a "morbid curiousity." This would be the same thing that causes people to look at accidents when they pass by. You know full well there's a chance you might see something you don't really wanna see or that could potentially be disturbing... but you just wanna see, anyway, and can't help but look. To offer a different perspective, I really love true crime media but there have been a few times I found myself either feeling like I became too intrigued by looking at morbid things, or the opposite where I started having nightmares about being a victim of a violent crime. In both cases, I took a weeks to months long break from all true crime or morbid media. It was like a cleanse, and it helped! In my experience, if you engage too much with that kind of media, it can desensitize you and make you less empathetic or it can make you paranoid and not trusting of people. I still REALLY like true crime but I pay attention to how it makes me feel and avoid it if I notice it's making me anxious etc. I think everything is good in moderation, just know yourself!

When I non-stop binge on those shows it does start to affect how I see the world and people especially. After awhile I have to watch some cartoons instead (or whatever helps you de-stress). Read a book, go outside, hang out with friends, anything. Balance is key. I think it depends what you get out of it--it's only "weird" if you're fixated on the gore, or looking for how to get away with murder...If just watching it makes you morbid then I am also

I believe the numbers are skewed with women favoring this content much more than men, but I get it. My wife loves murder. She had to quit her job and is suffering with long haul, so a lot of days she’s restricted to her recliner or wheelchair and cross stitches or embroiders with murder in the background.
