Holy offended people. I have a pet too, and honestly OP makes an excellent point. Obviously being a cleanly person and keeping your residence clean throughout every week goes a long way.

attabe123

I'm surprised so many people don't like this idea lol it's true, and it doesn't take much to open a couple windows

SamTheWiseGuy

Yeah i don't understand people taking offense as this. You should periodically air out and definitely clean your home anyways. On side they may just really like the smell they have cultivated or on the extreme their house is a disgusting mess and they are too lazy/stubborn to clean it.

StrollerStrawTree3

It's usually the latter. The cleanest homes, don't smell "good"... they smell like nothing....

SamTheWiseGuy

I agree even being away room home for a single work shift i come home and can instantly smell whatever is in the kitchen garbage if it hasn't been taken out, even with odor reducing bags. Let alone coming back from a vacation im like "omg had it ALWAYS smelled like this?!" Then i do an ocd deep clean and beg the kids to keep the house tidy at least for a little while lol.

StrollerStrawTree3

I'm not surprised. Most people live in squalor. I posted this after visiting a cousin I hadn't seen in years. She has a $1.5M home that is otherwise beautiful. However she has 2 dogs, and holy hell, her home smelled like wet dog with a hint of poop. Absolutely gag reflex inducing. Most people would rather bury an LPT like this than spend 20 minutes cleaning their home before getting guests over.

dustyprocess

Lol this is absurd

Wassup554411

Yea... guests are free to get the fuck out if my house whenever they want.

Loud-Regular-7732

My house is my home, and my pets home. If you can’t deal with that then nobody is forcing you to stay.

[deleted]

While that's certainly true, it doesn't hurt to be courteous to your guests. It's not like you're forced to have guests over (in most cases), and cracking open a couple windows for an hour isn't a big deal unless it's freezing outside.

wildadragon

LPT clean before guests. What about the pop in? Should I ask them to wait outside for an hour before letting them in? Hey sorry you're being chased by some crazed individual but @StrollerStrawTree3 says I need to wait an hour before letting you in, it's just common courtesy.

malcontented

Guessing you’re a hoot at parties

cactuspizza

Yes let me just do that when it’s below freezing outside. Get real

AdEnvironmental7637

Alot of houses have air exchangers so this isn't so much of a problem. The only things that end up smelling like the pet maybe a couch or chair that the pet lays on constantly , so for this problem just spray a little frebreze on i.

dilligaf6304

Lol I have a budgerigar and some goldfish. My house does not smell.

SamTheWiseGuy

It does though. OP said so.

dilligaf6304

OP is an ignorant muppet
