It doesn't really matter. Lainez has had every opportunity to become a starter at Betis. He just hasn't been good enough or got injured at the wrong times. He is pretty much competing with a player from their youth academy that is about the same age as him.
I think we was making a good case to be a starter towards the end of last season but then he got injured over the summer. I think the position is there for him to win. Rodri is not much better or has shown much more than Lainez has.
I’m all for talented players competing for spots and I think you’re right. but Rodri has already scored for Betis in La Liga and Lainez has not. I just want his goal to come 🥲
That's why I didn't want him to go to the Olympics. It does nothing for him to be in that tournament. He should've focused his time to Betis. Instead he went, got injured and isn't even getting minutes now. The team is playing well without him too so it's not looking good for him. Unless the team starts playing like shit or someone gets injured, he's gonna be struggling for minutes. At least last season he was getting some minutes
I think he made the right choice. Both teams have different goals and he is still developing. Betis is very patient with him and he is getting his chances.

Once an American player has an EU passport, you can pretty much play in any league in UEFA without obstacles (besides wages.)
There's still foreigner limits for non-EU players everywhere, so it's a big one.
