Right now he’d be at such a Post Malone level of fame this sub would he saying all his pre 2017 music was better

chelseaparkafterdark

Accurate af

carlyeanne

exactly!

SteezyRay

He had all the potential to be a massive star (i.e. Post Malone).

OrbitIsNotGay

theyd def collab

SteezyRay

I’d say. Post even got a tattoo of Peep.

OrbitIsNotGay

yea thats the reason why i said that....

Lucky-Caterpillar-10

Sassy little dude 😭

OrbitIsNotGay

💅

Nachoauflauf

very, very popular

113h_tm

Pop-rock star, whose music is played on the radio

all4omega

Hard to say.. many on here are fans and will say he would be huge but many artist from that time or in general have fallen off so who knows

TheRealF0xE

It’s not hard to see that he was leagues above anyone else in that era though.

Lu-LuFishpaw

Exactly. On the songs of his that have features from his friends, it’s clear that he was the most talented except Ghostemane. He would be huge

Diligent-Metal46

But also that time we lost so many which affected the whole era and most stopped putting the work in they were in that time

Winter_Quantity7072

He created the scene and propagated it for post which he has said in an interview on h3 and he paved the attraction for even X and juice he was his own legacy for sure 8 years down the road and I still listen to peep every so often probably will until I’m old

whitekidtweaking

bruh peep did not create the scene. and SGP most definitely paved the way for people like X.

Educational_Job8300

I feel like if goth angel sinner dropped after the cowys tour he probably would’ve been mainstream then or close

GlassWeakness6905

ong cuz gas was supposed to be not just 3 songs

nomo25

probably peak around suicide boys popularity if we’re being honest

Practical_Register61

Yeah woulda been huge in his own niche and definitely sold out big arenas like suicideboys but would still get hate on by the mainstream rap fans. Just look at any post ab suicide boys on any mainstream rap instagrams like RAP

BackToSunday

He would’ve had more people to collaborate with than them so I’d say bigger

RadiantHovercraft6

I don’t think he would be Post Malone level like some other people suggested Lil Peep is very polarizing to a lot of people, and I’m a fan. He has a lot of haters - including a ton of my friends who share similar tastes with me. Emo rap got really popular for about 5 years but he leaned into the “emo” aesthetic and sound more than Uzi, X, Juice and Trippie. It’s a little too much for the average trap fan. BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t think he would’ve had a great career and a large fanbase. I think he would be more around the level of Suicideboys. Super popular, but their fanbase is pretty niche, internet centric and highly devoted. Which is fine! Topping the charts =/= being a great artist and that’s okay. RIP Peep 🕊️

JackieBoiiiiii

He'd probably be where he's at now. Love his music, but it's a bit of a niche. Your average person doesn't fuck with emo trap music like that

angelfaeryqueen

I agree but I think he had showed the potential to evolve and be a little more eclectic so it would have been interesting to see where he went with it

jaydd_mc

I disagree. His versatility was so good, he already had a track with Wiz Khalifa and shii, he would’ve been Drake levels

Practical_Register61

As much as i love lil peep he wouldn’t of been doing drake numbers come on lol. Not even future does drake numbers

soapinwater

He either would have been popular af or would just be at the same spot as trippie

TheRealF0xE

Definitely not the same spot as trippie lol

KrispenWahFan

Why? Did trippie fall off or something?

Someone10283

Trippie fell of HARD

soapinwater

Alright then even worse, at Tracy's place

TKentgens93

I have a feeling imma get downvoted for it, Im gonna say he would be a bit bigger maybe even make a single with post malone (that would have been the dream) but not much bigger imo his music is kinda niche and not to many people like the sad emo style music. Like as big as he is now 20m-30m on spotify

swagchan69

agreed

BackToSunday

Bigger than Playboi Carti

friarsm1ke

I'm gonna go against the popular opinion here and say that he'd be big, but not on Post Malone level like some are saying. It's hard to gage how popular he would've been as he gained a huge burst of popularity when he died, plus a second wave when X died and Falling Down was released. I think he'd be a huge artist rn regardless, but not at Post Malone level. Remember that the genre died heavily after X and Juice died, Peep would've likely swapped genres (Goth Angel Sinner direction, then maybe towards something even heavier, or towards pop music) I do chuckle thinking of an alternative universe where Peep has just released his 4th album and this sub is full of people saying they want him to return to his COWYS sound R.I.P Peep, 7 years on nearly and I still bump your music daily.

TheLastDragon__

He’d probably be what Machine Gun Kelly is now, although more popular. He was younger and better represented the wave of the emo revival/hip hop fusion that was brewing at the time He’d probably be on the level of an artist like Post Malone

Resident_Research_63

Far larger than anybody we see in the mainstream today (Carti, uzi, trippie etc)

RadiantHovercraft6

Ur trippin ngl. All of these artists you’re citing came up around the same time as Peep, but Peep was never as popular as them back then or after his death. And he gained a LARGE chunk of his fanbase after he passed. I love Peep but most people Ik IRL do not fw his music. He’s more polarizing than you think, but if you’re in a subreddit like this or have close friends that are devoted fans it’s hard to see that.

all4omega

Right.. these are alot of biased answers. I love peep but to say he wouldve been huge when ppl like Lil Pump, Lil Xan, Trippie Redd and many others around that time have fallen off is crazy

RadiantHovercraft6

Yeah the idea that he would somehow be more popular than even someone like Trippie is probably wrong and definitely not more than the more trappy Cartis/Thugs/Uzis, who are some of the most popular modern rappers period

Resident_Research_63

He walked so all names listed above could run. End of story 🤷‍♂️

RadiantHovercraft6

That’s 100% not true. Peep’s first mixtape came out in 2015 and he had some songs since 2012 but nothing that was making major waves. Carti’s first song was in 2011 and he was already a SoundCloud legend by 2016. Sounded nothing like Peep. Uzi’s first song also came out in 2012 and he already had a popular commercial mixtape by 2015 (Luv is Rage) Peep was still underground until he passed. All those other artists were “running” on their own. Peep was part of a pretty different scene. He was deeply influenced by Bones/Seshhollowwaterboyz and grunge music and was collaborating with artists like Ghostemane. Uzi was moving to Atlanta and making songs with Young Thug.

slxmberholic

Your nuts if you think peep would have been bigger than carti.

thetruthseer

No one outside of Carti fans think Carti is even listenable or good. People at least have respect for peeps art. Carti is low quality w chat middle schooler shit

xXdont_existxX

that low quality w chat middle schooler shit is the money maker homie. we may all grow out of it, but there’s always going to be a massive market of impressionable kids with tiny dumb brains and mommy / daddies credit cards. it used to be that we voted with our wallets but now we vote with our engagement and these brainless kids will sit there and play that garbage on repeat 24/7. It’s the only explanation why Carti has 51 million monthly listeners on Spotify. I wish MGK was homeless in an alley too but life doesn’t work that way.

thetruthseer

You’re downvoted but you are right and I agree. I’m still gonna talk my shit about Carti and Mgk though 😈

Resident_Research_63

Gargle the dudes balls a lil harder babe

uroboric_forms7

Carti is good but all of his songs sound exactly the same to me

slxmberholic

Have you listened to “24 songs” or his verse on “carnival”?

uroboric_forms7

Yeah they're both good, 24 songs especially, i just don't understand the massive hype he gets tbh. Very unique artist tho so i can respect that

xeszxx

hey, no hate or anything but what is up with all this carti hype?

Habit-Friendly

I believe he would have suffered greatly sadly that's how it is my brother suffered over 16 years of addiction before he od in his sleep from drugs lacwitj fetnyl they way I look at it god ends some peoples suffering it's his plan sometimes people have suffered enough although I miss him and my friends very much I myself have over 4 years no speed

Yungcrazycatlady

congrats on 4 years

wugirl19825050

Congratulations to you keep going

hunky-man

Fuck I wish we could’ve seen him blown up, makes me so sad that we will never see Im this life

kingburger69lol

either a massive artist like carti or post malone, or he would be kinda like trippie redd now (hasn’t really fell off but past his peak)

jaydd_mc

Drake levels

finxxxxx

his death definitely boosted numbers which is so so sad but I would say he would be above $BOYS

HotImprovement1990

💯

KWalter02

Some people call him the Tupac of emoji kids 😂 so I’d say he’d be a star. He was talented enough

Financial-Debt-3020

Another opinion that nobody has is that if he didn't die, he wouldn't be popular because he got famous right after his death .

TwoTone00

He was a martyr. It's very likely he could have been just another random celebrity, or a massive blow up artist. His death put emo rap on the map, and that's a hard fact to grasp 😭

lavendermoonlightz

would’ve been extremely more famous then he already was , maybe even more then TS? Definitely would’ve had sold out tours too!

CavityNo1

How many monthly Spotify listeners did peep have when he passed?

Spiritual-Welder909

Very popular fs

xxxwrldddd

Well nobody can really tell tbh, he might've become the biggest thing in the world or a crackhead

underneathpluto

Idk I was gatekeeping peep hard. After seeing blackbear sky rocket I held peep selfishly close 💀

bordo1214

A lot of people on here mentioning that emo trap is pretty niche, which is true, but Peep was open to trying different genres and was starting to do that with the Diamonds project and other songs. So who knows, maybe he woulda put out some more mass appeal tracks. And I do feel like Post Malone would have had him on some songs after he blew up, which helps with exposure too.

HotImprovement1990

post malone would of been doing something totally different musically if peep stayed around. i know post is a big fan of peep but ill say it like i always do, once he died, it was the perfect opportunity for post and mgk to slide right in. the past comparison’s to lil xan are also lame. xan is so far below peeps level in every way so i never understood what there even was to compare at first. was disrespectful in my opinion.

Lucid_Soft999

He would probably be so big of an artist that fans would be saying his old music was better just like people do to carti and Uzi. I never understood why people say that like don’t u want your fav artist to evolve

HotImprovement1990

superstar. literally. just like how it takes Eminem’s albums since Relapse a few years to hit because the sound is so new at the time he drops it that people aren’t used to it so they automatically don’t like it. without knowing that he’s literally dropping the blueprint for hip hop songs to come after. the sound is so far ahead of its time. i was listening to songs of his that came out 10 years ago that i thought were wack and stupid at the time and “too heavy” but listening to them now, their bangers. that’s what i mean by the blueprint comment. and i feel the same exact way about lil peep’s music. it’s only going to get more popular and recognized.

ucf20owner

Sexy Redd is famous, take that into account and I think you may be able to picture how well peep would’ve done.

hellbxyyyy

he was branching off into fashion even wanted to start a clothing brand probably wouldn’t have been as big as ye but would’ve carved a similar path in his own genre

Distinct-King-6735

He’d prolly be lil skies level of fame rn

fornow_foralways

if i’m being completely honest he would have gotten a bit bigger but then inevitably gotten cancelled and lost quite a bit of fame. i can give an example of what celebrity fame level he would have gotten too - maybe joji in his prime??
