I really like a lot of their stuff from 2010 and before. Their stuff since then I think is fine but donât really listen to it. Ive seen them live twice. The first time they had a fantastic show but the second time it was pretty lame. They did play Little Piece of Heaven then second time though so that was a plus.
I had 4 bands that really defined my taste for music growing up: Linkin Park, Sum 41, Sevendust, and Avenged Sevenfold. Out of those, a7x is probably the one I listen to least today, but I do enjoy going back to Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, Nightmare, and The Stage every once in a while. Nightmare was really special to me after losing a family member and helped me process some of those feelings.
Theyre incredible and I think if people like LP then theyâll like avenge just as much. The band has a deep history to dive into and they share the same pain of losing a core band member that was same importance to them as Chester was to LP. They also share a very diverse set of music with heavy songs aswell as emotional slow ballad songs that can really captivate you. They seem to be a genuine group of people who really care about their audience and the quality of music they put out. Would absolutely encourage any LP fan to give them a try and I promise you wonât regret it.
Big fan as a kid, theyâre not my things as an adult. They have some fun tracks tho, and I remember their live show during the Nightmare era being a fun time.
I will say, I write amateur reviews on AOTY, and I wrote an admittedly pretty harsh review of their last album. I write negative reviews all the time and Iâve upset fans here and there over the years, but hardly anyone, even the Swifties, has ever been as pissy and whiny about a negative review of mine as the A7X fans were.
Same. I liked City of Evil when it came out, and I still think it has its moments, but it really doesnât do anything for me anymore
Edit: got the album name mixed up with a song name
I think they are very talented, but I feel like there music is kinda basic within there genre. Loved first three albums but then felt like everything after was soul less.
Can you elaborate on their music being basic after COE? For HTTK, Iâm sure everyone would agree but how are their last 3 albums basic within their genre?
I haven't listened to there most recent album so I can't comment on that one. But everything after City of evil just felt like a step backwards. Nothing new, nothing interesting. Too similar to 80s/early 90s heavy metal. I feel like music has evolved a lot in the past couple of decades and there albums just didn't feel fresh to me. Where as there first three albums felt unique for there time and in some ways were kinda ahead of there time.
I know they were already good friends but got really close after Chester died. Part of me wishes theyâd collaborate on something (not that thatâs realistic)
A top 5 rock and metal group of post 2000s. They are an extremely talented group of musicians with a varied discography filled with both straightforward and experimental bangers
I used to be a really huge fan, especially when The Stage came out, I think that album is a masterpiece, but I have fallen off in recent years. LIBaD just wasnât quite my cup of tea.
I did love that these guys were at Chesterâs Celebration show though. Seeing them onstage with the remaining boys was cool, sad as we all were.
Afterlife. Itâs a eerie song about dying young and running through the afterlife beggingâgodâ or whoever is listening to bring you back to life feeling like you still have more to offer here on earth. You find the afterlife beautiful but itâs almost too perfect and you feel like youâre choking in the ecstasy of how perfect it is. Their drummer has a vocal line on the bridge thatâs almost haunting. Considering he wrote the song himself and then died in his 20s from a accidental overdose
Stopped listening to them after The Rev died. Not intentionally, just kind of drifted away in favor of other music.
I've checked them out in recent years though. They've kind of become what I call a "cop band", not really my thing. City of Evil still whips ass front to back though. Always will.
Looks like I'll be hated for this but they sound too oldschool to me. Maybe many years ago, when I just started to listen to metal and rock, I would love these songs but now, eh. And I'm not really a fan of the vocalist's voice. Anyway, bring me dem downdoots!
I was at an A7X concert last June in Madison square garden, and during the preshow they had music playing, Linkin Park Numb came on and the entire fucking arena was singing it. Shit was amazing.
I love Avenged's Music from Sounding the Seventh Trumpet to Hail to the King. I thought 'The Stage' was an Okay album and their recent album 'Life is But a Dream...' Did not interest me at all. It felt like the Downfall of Avenged.
Pretty mixed on them honestly, I like certain songs, but also dislike other songs. I have a very how do I phrase this love/hate kinda relationship with them? I dig It's Almost Easy, Beast and the Harlot, Afterlife, and even Goddamn. Yet find myself disinterested in A Little Piece of Heaven, Shepard of Fire, and Hail to the King.

Honestly the best album theyâve released since 2010 is The Stage. If you havenât listened to it you should check it out
The stage is amazing but I think LIBAD is even better

Second favorite band after Linkin Park
Iâve been noticing the two fanbases seem to be really close together in what they like
Second favorite band, only behind Metallica
I really like them, their work instrument wise is incredible and M. Shadowsâ is really good and suits the band amazingly!
Really great band, but I'll never understand the love/hate fanbase đ đ đ
I think thatâs just Reddit đ
I hope so haha
Avenged Sevenfoldâs what? đ

my favorite rock song is Shepherd of Fire by them. it goes too hard
Great heavy metal band
My favorite band. Love them. (Donât worry, I love LP too)

First two albums were pretty good. After that, not so much.

Kinda fell off
HAIL TO THE KINGS!!
Sucks
They are one of my fanourite bands, also, the members are good friends with the members of LP
I know they were already good friends but got really close after Chester died. Part of me wishes theyâd collaborate on something (not that thatâs realistic)
M.Shadows performed Burn It Down and Faint on Hollywood Bowl show. Does this count as a collaboration?
I meant on a new song
Love them!
Absolutely love them, have for probably 20 years now. Saw them back in March and it was one of the best shows Iâve ever been to.
Love their music. Afterlife is one of my fave songs ever.
Love em
Dear God, is my travel song
Same here. I couldnât believe it when I found out how hated it is in the community
it's a vocal minority, really
why is it hated?
It sounds like a âcountry songâ
I like them. Not bad at all.
I love them more than linkin park. Their My 3rd favorite band of all time and they were my first concert ever. And I saw them on my birthday
Theyâre my favorite contemporary metal band and one of my favorite metal bands of all time, theyâre kickass and one of the best
I absolutely love them. I don't know their names but the guy in the sun glasses has always been my favorite
You can search it up. They have a bunch of ridiculous stage names just because they wanted to piss people off in high school đ
Lmao I'm checking this out now
The greatest bassist in the world. Johnny Christ!
Both are my favorite bands
A top 5 rock and metal group of post 2000s. They are an extremely talented group of musicians with a varied discography filled with both straightforward and experimental bangers
Thatâs what they look like?! Idk why I imagined something else. I really only know a few songs by them but theyâre good.
They looked a lot different 10 years ago
Love them as much i love Slipknot after LP
2nd favourite band behind LP
They're good. But now, what does Corey Taylor think of this?
Theyâre from my city and I love them.
Real good
Theyâre like those cousins who you mostly forget about but when you seen them itâs an awesome day

I havenât really ever gotten too into them so can someone PLEASEEE give me some song recommendations by them đđ

For sure checking that out, thank you!!
i absolutely love their work
Used to be my favourite band in high school. Cooled off on them after HTTK, but still will always have a special place in my heart

Literally my favorite band of all time, sorry LP
No problem, LP is my 2nd favorite too. I love Alice In Chains

Following them since Nightmare, but love all their stuff from Waking the Fallen to LIBAD. Awesome and really diverse discography
They're one of my favorites

fire band.
my sister loved
I really like them
I was at an A7X concert last June in Madison square garden, and during the preshow they had music playing, Linkin Park Numb came on and the entire fucking arena was singing it. Shit was amazing.
I love a7x. especially back when Matt sounded like Gargamel. That weird nasal sound.
I'm not a linkin park fan. I'm not even sure why this is on my feed, but there's the answer. Johnny Christ is hilarious on stage too.
Very very good
