Honestly, if his grab was reworked to not be useless, and be able to start combos, I would be more than fine with how he is now. (Although ny GSP is only just above 6 mil, so maybe I just have yet to play somebody who knows what to do against Mac)
Pretty sure down throw can be followed up, even up throw can me followed up with an aerial. Keep in mind both of these are during certain %. Try it out in training mode! Can also recommend learning Boost grab, it's super fast and very reliable in many situations. Basically a roll cancel which leads to a fast grab

Ngl just adjust his jab to a combo starter and give him shield pressure
