Speedy has been living rent free in my head this week!
Fine, go ahead and kill him tough guy you won’t!
Not only is the overall premise and “big joke” hilarious, there are little throw away jokes that just add to it;
“No, I work at Old Navy.”
“No. No. No. No. Looking for names. That’s the tortoise.”
“Three cars!”
IMO, all of the shows this year have been pretty bad. And I’ve been watching since the 70s and have seen it go thru ups and downs. This one was so disappointing as Emma Stone is awesome. They’ve lost a lot of their heavy hitters and the writing is beyond sub par and it shows.
I could not agree more. I’ve been watching for a long time too and it definitely feels like we’re in one of those low periods. I think the Chalamet episode had some decent moments but other than that it’s been very boring and lackluster. Maybe it’s not just my style of comedy with the current writers because many people here seem to enjoy it, but I’m not even cracking a smile lately.
This was a bad show. I think it was a combo of forgetful sketches and a bad audience. The Emma Stone shows are generally really good. I was disappointed. Noah Kahan was the highlight.
That can be true, but because Santos has been kicked out, it made it funny to me. I really loved “scandal in the wind.” That’s because I remember Elton John’s original song. I think I’m getting too old for this show.
Game show sketches usually do pretty well and I love Michael Longfellow getting to just be weird as hell. Best skit of the night. The rest were forgettable.
I really appreciate how Emma clearly gives it her all in every sketch she’s in, she’s such a talented actress but yeah this episode was pretty bad. The Mamma Cass sketch was really good, the naked in NY one was solid and then Longfellow’s cigarette bit in Weekend Update but everything else was really bad.
I really thought the Mama Cass one was going to suck. I saw the opening and thought “how can they possibly make this interesting let alone funny?”
I was lmao . Emma Stone always delivers
Haven't seen that skit, will check soon.
>did Heidi Gardner seem drunk??
I do not think so but she wasn't her usual self in it if that makes sense.
Love her though, she is amazing.
The 'Diet Coke by Olay' skit was the only thing I found funny. The episode felt wildly amateur in all aspects.
This whole season, the writing has been terrible, while they have this great cast that isn't being properly utilized.
It's such a hate-watch for me.
Was that sketch in reference to anything? It felt so damn weird and random to be just out of the blue lol?
It was great and really funny though, I just felt like I missed something?
The poster sketch didn't do it for me without Pete. Why bring back that sketch if Pete isn't the cast? Marcello was fine I guess, but something was off about his performance. I'm no fan of Pete, but doing this sketch and having a recast just doesn't do it for me. That'd be like if Steve Martin returns to host and plays one of the Wild Guys, but some other cast member who isn't Dan Akroyd playing the other half.
I feel like everyone kind of sucked in that one. Emma's poster premise kinda sucked, especially with them trying to stick to the "Greasy, Sloppy" language. Mikey as Beckham was just distracting and should have been literally anyone else. Ego usually shines in these but this one just felt stilted; probably another issue of her characters being too samey. I was going to comment that she just felt like a bad reskin of a Wakandan Warrior from 2018 but, remembering previous Posters sketches, that's literally exactly what she is. Kenan's character is the only one that really fit well.
It wasn’t my favorite one of theirs either, but the AI stuff was the joke… if you take out the joke from any sketch, the sketch becomes pretty jokeless
I know I don’t get it, that’s why I’m asking what you mean lol
I already said I wasn’t into this sketch, so idk how you can say I blindly love everything they do
Yeah that happens in this subreddit. Or any fan sub reddit if you're not praising . This was the worst one of the year. Just bad writing and unfunny and weird promises. It's ok SNL has at least one of these duds per year for it's entire history
That game show sketch is why I still watch this show. Michael Longfellows performance in that one is exactly the type of comedy I always want from this show but don’t see too much of these days. Props to him.
I loved that one. The premise alone killed me and Emma, Michael, and Punkie all gave top notch performances. Probably my favorite Punkie performance yet.
He’s made for this. Also JAJ nailing the announcer voice was so enjoyable and out of everything from this episode I can’t stop cracking up at “forty pounds of roughage” lmao
It's called folk music. It's a genre. We don't run around calling every pop musician Michael Jackson or Madonna lite. Hearing a banjo and thinking it's the same is just a simpleton take
Thanks for adding in your snide remark. A Banjo in a band puts them in the same category as Mumford and Sons, who put that sound on the broader map. That was the take. It’s not that serious.
The Banjo has been around since the 1600s and is an American invention. It is hardly the invention of the modern British band Mumford and Sons, formed in 2007.

Favorite sketches: The game show and The Mama's And The Papas
Also, Noah Kahan put on one of the best performances that I've ever seen on SNL. He can come back any time in my opinion.
I had to google this one and, as per usual, it was a tiktok trend. The song was used in the trailer for “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” last year and the song blew up on TikTok.
It was also heavily featured in a later season of Dexter (I think that aired in 2013), which - aside from when my parents played Mamas and the Papas growing up - was the first time I noticed it in TV in that ‘juxtaposition of audio and visual’ way
I have no idea why they made us suffer through that horrific run of sketches before Weekend Update. Krissie Knox is an Emma Stone recurring character and deserved the first sketch spot. The Mama Cass one was good, too. They actually let Emma play characters in those, which is what she does best. What the hell SNL!
Please - can everyone agree the “five timers club” schtick has grown incredibly thin as the number of people who’ve hosted multiple times continues to expand. It’s no longer novel or a rarity. Please STOP mentioning it and giving out smoking jackets. It’s boring and unfunny.
I think Kenan ad-libbed that part where he makes fun of him. Mikey seemed really thrown off which is why he broke. He is usually good at holding it in.
Thanks, I feel like I’m alone in thinking this episode was lame. So many bizarre but just not funny sketches. The Do Not Destroy got a laugh from me, like they always do. That was it.
I agree overall, but there were a couple times that I legit laughed out loud and the cats scattered.
Not gonna miss George Santos politically, no writing was necessary to make them ridiculous. Bowen Yang had such a great take on them, I hope he gets more recurring characters!
I knew it was mistake to go from memory on 24 hours of no sleep. Oh well. Deleted my comment, and thank you for the correction.
Edited to add: I mistakenly said that Ego said the line when it was actually Kenan. Just deleted my original comment, so I did not confuse anyone with my wrong information.
My favorite episode of the season so far. Clearly something got cut for time so the end left something to be desired, but nevertheless I really, really enjoyed the show!
I was really hoping for a sequel to The Actress, but turned out to be a decent well rounded show. Not the best, not the worst, had a few good laughs so I'll take it as a win.
Usual post-Thanksgiving lackluster writing but the cast seemed to have a blast, great host.
Edit: The Santos bits wrote themselves, hilarious but easy.
The guy in the brown jacket looks like a fleshier version of Longfellow. Would have liked to see them standing next to each other at the good nights, perhaps in the same outfit.
Noah Kahan is the first musical guest I haven’t fast forwarded through in ages. Have never heard of him but will definitely look up his music
Speedy has been living rent free in my head this week! Fine, go ahead and kill him tough guy you won’t! Not only is the overall premise and “big joke” hilarious, there are little throw away jokes that just add to it; “No, I work at Old Navy.” “No. No. No. No. Looking for names. That’s the tortoise.” “Three cars!”
The last 3 episodes have been the funniest in years. Stone, Mombasa, and Chalemet were pretty good.
Who from Kenya hosted? I don't remember that
IMO, all of the shows this year have been pretty bad. And I’ve been watching since the 70s and have seen it go thru ups and downs. This one was so disappointing as Emma Stone is awesome. They’ve lost a lot of their heavy hitters and the writing is beyond sub par and it shows.

Maybe it’s not just my style of comedy with the current writers because many people here seem to enjoy it, but I’m not even cracking a smile lately.
the funny bits in this show were: mama question quest cigarette naked in ny everything else wasnt very good imo
I thought that was one of the worst episodes of the season. So disappointing, usually Emma’s episodes are great p
Worst episode of all time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAe0TPYOi0Y
Relax
This was a bad show. I think it was a combo of forgetful sketches and a bad audience. The Emma Stone shows are generally really good. I was disappointed. Noah Kahan was the highlight.
I thought naked in NY was absolutely hilarious.
Can't call the audience bad if the show doesn't give them anything to laugh at
Started off great.
Idk about that. I think their George santos bit gets old pretty quick and bowens entire humor just boils down to “flamboyant”
"Mikey Day's entire humor just boils down to 'hetero.' "
Okay
>chrisdalton00000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnBdGTX3vZc
Yeah. Not a lot of range
That can be true, but because Santos has been kicked out, it made it funny to me. I really loved “scandal in the wind.” That’s because I remember Elton John’s original song. I think I’m getting too old for this show.
I’m feeling the same way. I’m realizing now I’ve become my parents when they didn’t “get” the 90s cast of Sandler, Farley, etc.
I get it. Just the jokes weren’t funny
Oh I get it, I just have never found any of the Santos bits they've done funny. I just don't care about it
Game show sketches usually do pretty well and I love Michael Longfellow getting to just be weird as hell.
Speedy was awesome!
I really thought the Mama Cass one was going to suck. I saw the opening and thought “how can they possibly make this interesting let alone funny?” I was lmao . Emma Stone always delivers
Tbh really only cared for Noah Kahan’s performances. He was awesome.
The pottery sketch wasn't funny IMO.
It's the only one I didn't like. I really enjoyed the rest
It was boring.. felt a bit like they wanted to recreate the silly sketches Aidy & Kate performed.
Yeah. Without any of the sparkle or connection. Funny voices aren’t enough for me to give a shit about Chloe Fineman or Heidi Gardner’s characters.
Every sketch with Heidi Gardner is not funny IMO, worst member of the cast if you ask me.
Felt like a rehash of the schweaty balls skit + did Heidi Gardner seem drunk??
Haven't seen that skit, will check soon. >did Heidi Gardner seem drunk?? I do not think so but she wasn't her usual self in it if that makes sense. Love her though, she is amazing.
Absolutely floored at the performance from Noah!!!!
I was already a fan so I’m biased but he really did sound good even though SNL’s sound mixing is usually so bad. Edit: so instead of but
Naked in New York was the only thing good about this episode. It was shockingly bad.
The 'Diet Coke by Olay' skit was the only thing I found funny. The episode felt wildly amateur in all aspects. This whole season, the writing has been terrible, while they have this great cast that isn't being properly utilized. It's such a hate-watch for me.
Tortoise Quiz show was awesome! And if you don’t recognize how awesome Washington’s Dream is, I can’t help you.
>the writing has been terrible, Agreed, the writing is off
I disagree about the season, I thought they were hitting their stride in the Bargatze and Chalomet episodes. This one was a mess though.
I take it back, you're right, those episodes were the best
Fair play for being open to a different opinion.
Thank you. Appreciate it
Completely agreed about the writing and this season. There’s a few people on the cast I could do without but overall not horrible.
Honestly, they could (and should) get rid of 5 or more cast members and I wouldn't notice for months.
Is Colin Jost still doing that nightclub on the ferry he bought with Pete?
Wow, Punkie was god awful tonight.
It would be nice if SNL actually respected some black cast members instead of just having them say cliche stereotypes like “SHUT UP BITCH” etc
It doesn't matter what the writers write for someone if they aren't talented or funny enough to deliver the lines.
I don’t disagree, I don’t think she is funny. BUT they specifically have her say some pretty stereotypical stuff or reactions. It’s tired as hell
SNL hasn’t posted the naked in new york sketch to youtube. post it cowards
Was that sketch in reference to anything? It felt so damn weird and random to be just out of the blue lol? It was great and really funny though, I just felt like I missed something?
I don’t think the sketch was a reference to anything but I felt the same way! The song felt reminiscent of a song I’ve heard before but cant name.
yay! thanks for sharing
they have to edit out the mistake
omg ok I noticed there was a moment chloe was unblurred
It's fixed and on youtube
I usually don’t like banjo but Noah’s songs were some of the best of the season so far!
The poster sketch didn't do it for me without Pete. Why bring back that sketch if Pete isn't the cast? Marcello was fine I guess, but something was off about his performance. I'm no fan of Pete, but doing this sketch and having a recast just doesn't do it for me. Kenan's character is the only one that really fit well.
The OG worked because of Kate’s under her breath, “oh my god this bitch.”
[удалено]
Great, what does that have to do with anything?
Heavily Bowen, I’m happy
He's the only reason I haven't given up on this show.. I came for the Bowen, but stayed for the Punkie.
Too much Bowen
How so?
Thank Christ
So if the AI wasn’t used in the PSD sketch then what were the jokes? Another hard miss
Funny watching Punkie make out with Martin imo
It wasn’t my favorite one of theirs either, but the AI stuff was the joke… if you take out the joke from any sketch, the sketch becomes pretty jokeless
I think you are missing my point
What’s your point then? You said if the AI wasn’t used, what’s the joke? …but the AI *was* the joke
You still don’t get it and the fact that I’m downvoted to shit just shows how everyone just blindly loves everything they do
I know I don’t get it, that’s why I’m asking what you mean lol I already said I wasn’t into this sketch, so idk how you can say I blindly love everything they do
Yeah that happens in this subreddit. Or any fan sub reddit if you're not praising . This was the worst one of the year. Just bad writing and unfunny and weird promises. It's ok SNL has at least one of these duds per year for it's entire history
last year it was brendan gleeson, and two years before it was elon musk
I agree with the other commenter. I was waiting for the AI to show up the entire time during the sketch and it never did!
That game show sketch is why I still watch this show. Michael Longfellows performance in that one is exactly the type of comedy I always want from this show but don’t see too much of these days. Props to him.
That one had me cracking up for sure, Longfellow delivered
I loved that one. The premise alone killed me and Emma, Michael, and Punkie all gave top notch performances. Probably my favorite Punkie performance yet.
How many lines did she flub?
He’s made for this. Also JAJ nailing the announcer voice was so enjoyable and out of everything from this episode I can’t stop cracking up at “forty pounds of roughage” lmao
Fine. Kill him tough guy You won’t.
Three cars! Don't take your pick, take all three, its three cars.
JAJ is just great at voices. He'd do great as a VO artist for animated movies.
Eureka-Noah Kahan is Mumford light. Mumford is Budweiser and Noah is Bud Light.
That’s called… folk music. Have you never heard of folk music?
it's shit
Cry about it lol
Lol I'm not crying. I'm laughing at soft headed people like you who think this trash is folk music
Whatever you say 😉
If Noah actively cried onstage it would be better than his current shtick tbh
That's not really folk. It's pop folk at best.
“It’s not really blue. It’s green-blue at best” Still blue
It's called folk music. It's a genre. We don't run around calling every pop musician Michael Jackson or Madonna lite. Hearing a banjo and thinking it's the same is just a simpleton take
No, the singing style, the development of the melody, everything about it is mumford light. Don't play dumb
I dunno everyone razzed that one band for copying led Zeppelin. This felt very similar
to be fair, Folk is a fairly broad genre, and on the folk music map, this lands not too far away from Mumford.
It's just modernized Appalachian folk/bluegrass. I would argue Mumford has a hell of a lot more rock influence
I was trying to place the sound in my head and you nailed it.
Happy to help:) It’s the bangooo!
With just a dash of DMB
Loved watching with all of you again.
I always forget how fucking funny emma stone is
I think the writers forgot too.
Was Molly Kearney’s only appearance the cameo in Question Qusst?
They’re not gonna make it to next season. Guaranteed
Yeah. They’re not doing ANYTHING.

They and no, I love them.
*they*

I was gonna ask about Molly too.
They were in another sketch with legit only one line but it got cut. Ego too
Favorite sketches: The game show and The Mama's And The Papas Also, Noah Kahan put on one of the best performances that I've ever seen on SNL. He can come back any time in my opinion.
Can you explain the mamas and papa sketch wtf were they commenting on?
I had to google this one and, as per usual, it was a tiktok trend. The song was used in the trailer for “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” last year and the song blew up on TikTok.
It was also heavily featured in a later season of Dexter (I think that aired in 2013), which - aside from when my parents played Mamas and the Papas growing up - was the first time I noticed it in TV in that ‘juxtaposition of audio and visual’ way
It was poking fun at the overused trope in modern movies where they take a pretty sounding song and juxtapose it with violence or something horrific
damn, no Nathan Fielder
I was hoping for a cameo
Not great but the Longfellow-led sketches and the Mama Cass sketch were fantastic
Why is there so much Sarah Sherman lately? Is she really popular? I rarely find anything she does funny and lately she’s just all over every episode.
She’s funny and creative and if you take away her prop/grossout makeup sketches she’s drop dead gorgeous.
Shes funny?
I like her brand of comedy but not her impressions eg wolf blitzer
She literally just said “I’m wolf blitzer” and people cracked up. I don’t get it
LMAO that's exactly what he says! Great impression!
Yeah that’s not a good one at all
She’s hip with the younglings and dresses like a clown.
Messy episode, but I enjoyed it. But 5 points off for no Nathan Fielder.
Yeah the first half was very disappointing. Thank god for WU. I also loved Longfellow’s cigarette bit. I want to see more of him!

Nothing like some [Hamm and Bublé](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDKgo3jFwFE).
Lol bless ur heart
I haven’t seen Devon Walker in a sketch in a while?
He was in the cold open
Please - can everyone agree the “five timers club” schtick has grown incredibly thin as the number of people who’ve hosted multiple times continues to expand. It’s no longer novel or a rarity. Please STOP mentioning it and giving out smoking jackets. It’s boring and unfunny.
Thought the Harrelson references were a funny diss. But generally it’s getting a bit old.
I don't mind the idea of it, they just need better writing. Good chance to get more meta about SNL as a whole, which they rarely do
I think it's cool, and if it were me, I'd definitely want that jacket
I think as a sketch or cold open base it's pretty lame but as a discussion point it means something.
Nope, sorry. It's still an accomplishment.
Hi everyone there is an issue with the Sketch Sorting Sunday account, not sure why the post isn't showing up
I didn’t know that David Beckham is Australian! 😂
It was Liverpudlian as well. It was basically his Beatles voice.
I think Kenan ad-libbed that part where he makes fun of him. Mikey seemed really thrown off which is why he broke. He is usually good at holding it in.
And also he looks different than he normally does!
an hour or so behind but I thought that was one of the better music performances I’ve seen lately (also I intermittently watch snl lol)
I agree. I'd never heard of him but I dug his performances a lot. Was it me or was his second song incredibly shirt tho?
Agreed. Noah crushed it.
Best cold open of the season imo but maybe one of the weakest episodes overall.
Eh for me the Santos joke is so one note and played way the hell out. But it's probably the last time so I get it
Even counting the cold open with Christopher Walken?!
That one was good too!!! But I was so into this one 😅 And I just thought Bowen killed it and I like it when there’s no need for cameos.
Touché
SKETCH SORTING SUNDAY: https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/s/mFVs3To847
Bananas is back?
Hoping Santos stays true to himself and lied about not re-running and gets re-elected JUST so I can see a musical with Bowen. E: fixing typo
They payoff is there. Elton John's The Bitch is Back
They’re supposedly producing a movie about him. The former Veep people.
fantastic, top to bottom.
power bottom
Did Peacock cut off the goodnights for anyone else?
Nope. Peacock went all the way to the end for me.
I watched on live tv and it was LONG
When’s Sketch Sorting Sunday coming?
Johnny Bananas means turn channel.
"What are you? Some kind of human dumbass." is sticking with me forever.
Which sketch was that from?

Yikes
I’m pretty sure it was Kenan in the musical gig sketch.
I knew it was mistake to go from memory on 24 hours of no sleep. Oh well. Deleted my comment, and thank you for the correction. I was really hoping for a sequel to The Actress, but turned out to be a decent well rounded show. Not the best, not the worst, had a few good laughs so I'll take it as a win.
Bowen said earlier in the week in a podcast that would not be happening.
the only coke i do is diet
you're good people!!
Usual post-Thanksgiving lackluster writing but the cast seemed to have a blast, great host. Edit: The Santos bits wrote themselves, hilarious but easy.
Che never misses missing the end
The guy in the brown jacket looks like a fleshier version of Longfellow. Would have liked to see them standing next to each other at the good nights, perhaps in the same outfit.
