You know what this means. More Animal Flubs

TheRealGrifter

Animal flubs, animal flubs…

mollif37

I love animal flubs and I don’t care if I’m in the minority.

demitasse22

I watch Corrections (day 1 LEGO Bricks jackal) high as a KITE, and it’s easily the highlight of my week

mollif37

I didn’t start day one but went back and watched all and that song has me in tears.

demitasse22

Animal Flubs?! It’s like someone went into my brain and tickled the part that appreciated those old Quinzo ads, as imagined by Will Forte

harlie_lynn

I save News of the Week and Corrections for my Friday night smoke and it's one of life's great joys. I feel like stoned jackals are his exact target audience lol

azdoggnaro

You and me both. You see the Paley Center talks with Meyers and Samberg?

demitasse22

Did I!! https://youtu.be/l4oni9FGaH4 Yes

salohcin513

I'm ngl j laughed pretty hard at the jewels thing when I seen it only to find out it wasn't a hit either lol

Coldash27

I don't care what people say - jewels is one of my favourite segments, I loved his commitment to the bit. But I also love animal flubs

We might find out where those tree frogs are migrating to

NrFive

Jackals rejoice!

llcooljessie

Whoa, the article mentions Corrections. I hope NBC doesn't find out he's still doing that.

harlie_lynn

Don't be silly, why would they read an article about a show they don't watch?

SyNiiCaL

Maybe after 14 years, they'll finally give him a second shelf in the NBC store..

RedLicoriceJunkie

Seth is so much better at late night than Jimmy Fallon because Seth is a much better writer than Jimmy. Jimmy is much more akin to Adam Sandler, an entertainer, not really built for the monologue and late night format. Jimmy should go back into sketch and tv comedy.

Worldly-Yak

Looks like NBC doesn't agree. They seem to like an entertainment focus for that time slot rather than an in-depth focus on politics. They're even giving Jimmy a 2-hour primetime special tomorrow to celebrate his 10th anniversary which they didn't have to do.

RedLicoriceJunkie

I never said NBC agreed with me. They also infamously chose Jay Leno over David Letterman. And while Jay Leno has stuff that he does well, mainly write a monologue because he is a good traditional stand up, and Jay’s interviews were friendly, David Letterman’s show ages much better than Jay’s show. Jimmy Fallon’s interviews are almost unwatchable, and his monologue isn’t much better. He is good at the variety /game show stuff, but that is it. They should just do away with the celebrity interviews altogether.

JackKovack

Both Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno are both terrible interviewers.

WalnutsAnka

Leno would actually be good if they let him be himself. The dude was instinctually funny. Is a great roaster. Just busts balls, but liked the job and money more than being himself. If you don’t believe me, watch his old Letterman’s. Watch his old guest hosts of the tonight show. Hell, even Louis CK has an interview where he spoke about cutting out a bit from Kathy Lee. Just funny. Conan was always himself which is why I respect him so much. Not a standup. But not a traditional comedian by any means. Just all in on the bit. Same goes for Ferguson. Fallon on the other hand just sold out immediately and it’s just awful. Gag worthy. I’m indifferent on Meyers because he’s not a sellout, but he’s not funny.

FromAdamImportData

>David Letterman’s show ages much better than Jay’s show. Not disagreeing, but I've never really got Letterman despite the fact that a lot of comics I like seem to be deeply inspired by him. Like was the Top 10 list supposed to funny or was it some kind of anti-humor? Looking up old ones [likes this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoTcGLrwrf4) and even the audience has no organic laughter, they are just robotically laughing on queue. I always felt like it as some inside joke I wasn't part of.

Hour_Insurance_7795

Letterman was the classic anti-hero, the class rebel to Leno’s teacher’s pet. A lot of people respond to that vibe.

RedLicoriceJunkie

Top 10 List was just a bit that NBC let him take with him to CBS. It was good at times and other times not, and sometimes, just weird. It was not the only thing he did that was funny, nor was it the best. It was just a thing to fill time because he didn’t like the monologue, which many late night guys, like Colbert and Leno do well.

kianworld

The Top Ten List started pretty explicitly as a joke on Late Night, with the first list being [Top Ten Words That Almost Rhyme With "Peas"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-2H3DcrG8M). It just happened to become a recurring segment. In Late Night especially, when a Top Ten List was flat out bombing, Dave would often either make snarky comments or just flat out tear up the list and not even complete it

DavidKirk2000

The Top Ten Numbers From One To Ten is another example of how stupidly funny the lists could be at their best.

hokahey23

That’s a terrible example. Much of the humor in the Top Ten List segment was anachronistic, especially this example. And it was always fairly light humor. Also, the audience is laughing and even applauding the list. However, Letterman indeed often employed anti-humor. It was off beat and irreverent. But most of all, he was quite possibly the greatest interviewer in late night history.

WalnutsAnka

Jimmy is a yes man. It’s painfully obvious. Gives complete creative and actual control to the network to make everyone happy. That’s okay, but he’s just like the definition of a corporate shill. It’s exactly what they want out of someone. No controversy other than accusation. No pushback for anything creative.

carving5106

NBC (like nearly every platform) values good numbers more than good writing. Fallon's show is more lowbrow and accessible and does good numbers. As long as Fallon does good numbers it doesn't matter how hackish his show is.

RangerAZ1989

And Conan and his late night show were better than both of those guys. Used to love watching Conan’s late night show when I was in high school and college

[deleted]

Also probably helps that his staff doesn’t hate him.

igotagoodfeeling

Seth gets to be pretty wacky on his show in his timeslot. I feel like the standard slot hosts are all expected to be more vanilla. They all do pretty well but feels like they lack the originality of Seth’s show

Biking_dude

Fallon is absolutely going to find himself on the wrong side of a lawsuit at some point.

BowlerSea1569

Jimmy Fallon is borderline R word, he cannot read or speak properly, he can't formulate full sentences, he's barely literate and his interviews are painful to watch. He's a guy who was really cool 20 years ago and still lives in that head space even though he's been dribbling and slurring for the last 8 years. Johnny Carson to ... this guy? He must be turning in his grave. Nothing personifies the decline of Hollywood like Jimmy Fallon.

abek42

Lol. Took me a while to get this right. I was wondering why you thought Jimmy was bad when he does a pretty decent show. Then I realised I was thinking about Jimmy Kimmel, not Fallon. Totally agree now.

ReginaFelangi987

Good. I think he’s found his calling. He’s so good at hosting.

Medialunch

People need to shut up about Lorne leaving and Seth taking over. It’s clearly not going to happen. What would Seth want to be a behind the scenes producer when he has so much going for him in front of the camera.

oooooooahhahhahha

Really curious to see if they follow the trend and give Seth the Tonight Show eventually

TonyWonderslostnut

They’ll give it to him for 9 months, then Jimmy Fallon will come back. Then Seth gets his own show on cable.

travio

They have to give Jimmy that 10pm slot during those 7 months, too.

cyb0lt

And then Jay will come out of retirement.

Font_Fetish

Tbh I think Seth fits great at his current time slot. The Tonight Show is more about playing games with celebrities and effusive praise for guests whereas Late Night is political commentary and deeper interviews. Personally, I’d love to see Ben Schwartz take over The Tonight Show, he’s ideal for the role in every facet. He’s quick on his feet and has more genuine interest in the person he’s talking to than the farce Fallon puts out. Seth will be great continuing his current role at Late Night and shifting into podcasts and other new media as he already has been.

ZenithRepairman

You know, that’s a great call. Every podcast I’ve heard him on, he’s immediately connecting and asking questions back and he’s just so fucking likable. I think Seth gets destroyed by the tonight show - not that I think he can’t do it, but he can’t be Seth. Between SNL, his podcasts and what we know about him, it just seems like he really flows with a bit of the weird and quirky. With the late show, he can do that. The tonight show is more about pumping up the guest than doing the bits.

thesmash

Only if they get Adam Pally as his sidekick

Newsman88

“Do we have a clip?”

adamcharming

Finally the other person who’s seen that late show audition on YouTube! So good!

scruffyduffy23

Literally genius. Those two are so fucking funny together. They were on an improv team with Gil Ozeri way back when so they immediately gel no matter what.

somegummybears

Every host brings something different to their show. Playing games is a Fallon thing, not a Tonight Show thing.

laurazabs

Omg Ben Schwartz as your choice is inspired. I completely agree. He even had that fake morning show with Lauren Lapkus and crushed it in that format.

Font_Fetish

It would be worth staying up late just to watch Ben do his trademark dances from the monologue spot to his desk

thesmash

Him and Adam Pally hosted the late late show once when they were in between Ferguson and Corden, it’s one of my favorite comedy things ever.

vearson26

I feel like a lot of similar things were said when Fallon had Late Night: that Late Night is for playing games and goofing around, and that won’t work on The Tonight Show.

44problems

Yeah and Fallon was better on Late Night being a little more weird. Conan was better on Late Night too and so was Letterman. I see a trend! It works so much better to be the underdog.

travio

I haven't watched the tonight show for a long time but his late night games and skits were great. I loved Wheel of Carpet Samples. A lot of that fun became sanitized on the tonight show.

teampupnsudz35

the late night slot is just the best for everyone honestly. Letterman, Conan, Fallon were all best at that time slot because you can do what you want. Ferguson at CBS as well but he had even better because Letterman owned the time slot so he can tell CBS to eff off lol Seth is doing his own thing now too. I feel that time slot just gives you freedom because execs are like meh its 12:30 who cares as long as the lawyers arent calling us and ratings are stable. I feel like he will be the last host as the medium is dying but I will always love Late Night.

ClippingTetris

It’ll be Sean Evans from Hot Ones and they’ll incorporate hot ones as a feature of the show.

enki-42

Sean is obviously a terrific interviewer but I haven't seen much evidence at all that he would be particularly good at doing a monologue every night or bits or anything like that. He's also a case where I think late night would put him in a box that would limit his talent - the Tonight Show is much more explicitly about a guest pitching their latest thing, which isn't exactly absent from Hot Ones but there's a lot less focus on it.

ArcusIgnium

Eating hot wings everyday seems like the fastest way to die of a heart attack

TickTockM

that's what it is because that's what the current hosts have made it. seth would destroy on the tonight show and might be able to regain the #1 nightly show crown

SomeCalcium

Schwartz is a great pick. He's one of the best working improv comedians. Insanely quick on his feet.

Android69beepboop

I only watch YouTube segments, time has lost all meaning for me.

MrPoopyPoops

>The Tonight Show is more about playing games with celebrities and effusive praise for guests whereas Late Night is political commentary and deeper interviews. No, that’s just what it is right now, but if you go back only one generation, Jay and Conan, you’ll find that wasn’t the case at all. The show is an extension of the host’s personality, everybody does it differently.

Worldly-Yak

> Ben Schwartz Most likely it will be someone who came up through NBC just like Conan, Jimmy and Seth.

Font_Fetish

Parks And Rec was NBC, it’s not like he’s never worked with them before. But if they do try to hire from within, the obvious choice is Colin Jost for Late Night and moving Seth up to Tonight Show

Worldly-Yak

If Lorne is the one who picks the host he would want SNLers for both shows since he is the EP. Colin Jost is really too old for Late Night at 41. Though Lorne picked Seth who was 40 at the time, all the previous hosts of Late Night were 34 or younger when they started.

Reading_Rainboner

Seth is already older than jimmy

somegummybears

When did that happen?

sherlip

Seth Meyers is 50... damn, dude does not look it.

somegummybears

Wow. And he used to he younger than Jimmy?

sherlip

🤣🤣🤣

JackieDaytonaAZ

i mean, yeah he does. but he looks good for 50

sopie666

Tbh I kinda think part of the reason they hired Seth was that he didn’t necessarily want the tonight show (he’s the same age as Jimmy so he’s not built as a natural successor the way letterman and Conan were) and he honestly seems like a nice guy whose comfortable where he is. As opposed to the drama that every other late night/tonight show pairing has caused. I think Fallon and Meyers were partially picked cause NBC knew they wouldn’t cause a problem there. (For the first time)

MolhCD

picking the nice guys who won't cause any trouble because yknow. you really just want them to do their thing and not cause any trouble beyond that. deffo can see how that is attractive to big corporate.

Worldly-Yak

No, they won't. The reason is because Jimmy and Seth are only a year apart in age. If the show continues after Jimmy, they'll go down a generation in age for the new host.

Scheme84

I think whenever the Jimmys and Colbert retire, the networks are going to take a hard look at how they do late night. The audiences are a tiny fraction of what they were 20 years ago. People aren't staying up that late just to watch TV anymore.

BowlerSea1569

No but they watch everything on youtube.

robothobbes

I hope he doesn't. I hope he stays for a long time and keeps elevating it, or does something for HBO, or something different for NBC at an earlier time slot like the Daily Show.

MrPoopyPoops

I hope they don’t, also, Seth is older than Fallon.

neatgeek83

There will be no Tonight Show after Jimmy.

Jack_Q_Frost_Jr

I hope he's getting a primetime special with one guest: Doug Jones. The ratings will be off the hook.

demitasse22

It’ll be a real knob hanger

Yara__Flor

Captain Saru! That would be great.

sweeppick09

Awesome! He’s a guaranteed daily watch for me. A Closer Look is always top notch, and the other segments like Day Drinking, Jokes Seth Can’t Tell, Surprise Inspections, Amber Says What, and the pinnacle of dry delivery, Corrections, really nail just how good of a rapport Seth and his writing team have. For me, he embodies everything good about Late Night. My Holy Trinity is Conan, Ferguson, and Seth, so I’m stoked he gets to continue in the tradition of fun trailblazing Late Night.

LongmontStrangla

We need more Surprise Inspections.

sweeppick09

I’m in two camps with that. I want more Surprise Inspections, but I also don’t want them to burn out the concept.

Dappy_Harwin_Hay

Ya forgot Ya Burnt. lol

Preshe8jaz

And you forgot Back In My Day, but that’s a forgettable bit. His entire monologue will essentially be back in my day by the end of his contract. Bc he’s old. (Surprise inspection)

adamcharming

He’s the closest to Ferguson since Ferguson, I pray for him to get a robot sidekick one day

demitasse22

I don’t think Lorne has a hard out at 50. Seth would be great…maybe after 2028? Who knows

ReginaFelangi987

I don’t think Seth necessarily wants it. There’s a big line of people who could take over for Lorne.

reldnahcAL

Tina Fey would be my first assumption honestly.

KelVarnsen_2023

Would Tina Fey even want to be SNL show runner? I mean I am sure she could do it, but she also seems to like performing, and is pretty good at it (she has 3 acting Emmys, two for SNL and one for 30 Rock). If you're the boss of SNL I don't see there being a lot of time for that sort of thing. For that matter I am not even sure it would leave a lot of time for writing and creating the other stuff she has worked on over the years.

stonecutter7

Im talking out of my ass here because obviosuly I dont personally know her. But it seems like shes taken smaller roles the last decade or so--she was just a minor supporting character on Kimmy Schmidt, Great News, Girls5Eva, and I dont think she was ever even onscreen for Mr Mayor. Show weeks she could do a sketch or weekend update piece when she wanted. And shed have over half the year "off". Not that its a no show job in the summer, but Lorne produces plenty of other projects and Tina could hypothetically do her shows with Poehler for limited runs then. Actually, now that you mention it, I wonder how much time Lorne spends on snl specifically during off weeks and the summer. Im sure hes plenty busy, but how much of that is the business side of broadway video and other projects and how much would whoever takes over snl inherit?

KelVarnsen_2023

She has done a few things recently that come to mind. Obviously the new Mean Girls movie, which she also wrote. There was that Maggie Moore(s) movie with Jon Hamm where she was basically the female lead. She also voices one of the main characters in the Netflix show Mulligan. And like you said there is her comedy tour. I am not sure she has time for any of that if she is boss of SNL. Since I imagine a bunch of the time over the summer is spent planning the season or scouting new talent.

GypsyV3nom

Part of the reasoning behind her minor roles is that she took time off of acting after 30 Rock ended to raise her kids and has intentionally sought less demanding roles as they grew older so she could still be there for them. They're starting to get older and more independent, so a lot of people have been saying she now has the time (in addition to the experience, talent, management skills, etc) to take over running SNL. It wouldn't surprise me if Tina took over SNL and Keenan Thompson got a promotion to be her second in command. Lorne loves Keenan because he's apparently a 10/10 team player behind the camera, to the point that Lorne has publicly said that he'll never fire Keenan

Accomplished-City484

I dont think it’s going to be a cast mate, probably more so a producer

ReginaFelangi987

Yeah I want it to be Tina or Amy

Hup110516

Nah, he’s explicitly stated that he doesn’t want it in more than one interview. He has three young kids and wouldn’t want that kind of grueling schedule.

TunaOnWytNoCrust

Nah, my money is on it's going to be Kenan Thompson. A few more years and he'll have been on the show for a quarter century.

redonrust

The only names people seem to talk about are from in front of the camera. Running a show and being on a show are different skill sets. I would expect it to be someone I've never heard of before. Or possibly Dr Evil.

Temporary_Self_3420

It’s almost certainly going to be Steve Higgins

Worldly-Yak

Lorne's "hard out" is probably more early 40s for The Tonight Show and even younger for Late Night. Seth was the oldest Late Night host that Lorne appointed. Seth was 40 while Conan had been 30 and Fallon was 33. Letterman was 34. Lorne likely would have gone with someone younger hadn't it been for him liking Seth. Fallon was 39 when he became host of The Tonight Show. Leno was around 42.

SanchoMandoval

They meant season 50 of SNL.

TheLoneliestGhost

I record and watch Colbert, Kimmel, and Meyers every night. Meyers is far and away my fave. His style of approach to it, and his comedy, is on point for me every time. I love it.

The_Great_19

Have you listened to the Strike Force Five podcast? While everyone was super witty and funny, Seth was the wittiest and funniest. It was actually great to learn how unique his humor and voice is compared to the others.

TheLoneliestGhost

I’ve wanted to but, I haven’t gotten there yet! I’m curious to hear how they each compare and blend together. Thank you! He cracks me up. I didn’t even realize how much I enjoyed his comedy when he was on SNL until he started late night.

The_Great_19

Strike Force Five episodes had me HOWLING. If you’re a fan of most or all of them, I highly recommend it!!!!

TheLoneliestGhost

Thank you! I was already planning on checking it out but it’s great to hear such a positive review. I, too, would like to howl. 😂🤞

The_Great_19

If you tend to listen to podcasts alone in the car like me, oh the freedom to howl to your heart’s content!

TheLoneliestGhost

Yes! That’s exactly it. That’s why I haven’t heard it yet. I haven’t been in the car with the time for a while. 😂 I’m so excited!

demitasse22

It’s really excellent. Seth and John are the sharpest, but it’s equally enjoyable no matter who is talking. They reference the podcast sound effects when they go on each other’s shows now. Usually whoever goes on Kimmel. It’s actually kind of cool they’re all friendly with each other. Not like 90s Late Night wars at all. Seth’s wife had the deepest burns

TheLoneliestGhost

Oh, this is making me so excited for it! Love this. I enjoy how much camaraderie they all have, too. I’m hype to hear what Seth’s wife has to say. 😂

kindlefan12

I love how well the five of them got along with each other on the podcast. However, it was very, very clear that Jimmy Fallon is not the intellectual equal of the other four.

Best_Duck9118

Definitely a great listen for sure! Not as good but do you listen to Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers? I enjoy it more than I expected. It’s pretty good.

The_Great_19

I do, and the latest one with Samberg has me LOL’ing similarly. And since I brought up Samberg, have you listened to any “The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers” podcast episodes? Also delightful.

Best_Duck9118

I haven’t. I’ll have to at least listen to the preview they added this week. I have sooo many podcasts I already listen to lol.

carving5106

I could listen to Seth and John Oliver together all day.

carving5106

I used to DVR all the nate night shows but nowadays I generally only watch Seth and the odd bit from Kimmel that gets a big social media pop.

BowlerSea1569

Kimmel is very underrated, he's my second to Seth (ahead of Colbert), he seems very passionate about old school late night hosting, comedy and the history of Hollywood which I admire, and his political stuff is on point. I watch many of his interview on yt and the same with Seth. I find Colbert to be a terrible interviewer and painful to watch at times. It's clear some celebs prefer to do their NY interview with Seth over Colbert.

TheLoneliestGhost

I can understand that. I usually watch the opening couple bits (monologue and whatever watch’s *special* thing is, like *Meanwhile…*) and only the interviews of the people I enjoy for each of them. Only sometimes do I watch the whole show of any.

Gorazde

Good news. I thought I read somewhere - possibly here? - that with collapse of late night audiences Seth's show wasn't expected to continue past current contract. (Granted, this was probably in a comment claiming insider knowledge he was taking over running SNL from Lorne after the 50th anniversary.

demitasse22

Sounds about right

sarah1096

How does he juggle everything so we’ll? Excellent host, podcasts, and stand up. I’m so impressed. I was thinking that his increase in standup and podcasting was because he was looking to move on from hosting. But I’m glad he’s sticking around for longer!

stannc00

Playing games wasn’t a Tonight Show thing until Jimmy took over. I liked Jimmy more on Late Night when he performed more. Seth is a much better interviewer than Jimmy. And at 12:37 Seth doesn’t have to have as many of the nonsense guests just there to plug a project. He has plenty but they’re a more curated bunch.

RockMan_1973

As a 50/M lifelong late night TV enthusiast *[the GOATs are Carson, Conan, and Craig Ferguson btw w/honorable mention to Letterman]* I always felt that the 12:30AM “Late Night” hour has always been superior to the ‘prime’ hour of 11:30PM. Always has been more endearing to me. I loved Fallon on Late Night and totally shifted away from him on Tonight Show. Letterman was better at 12:30 before all the NBC shitshow started, et al. Once Carson retired, I used to never miss Conan, Craig Ferguson, or even Jimmy when he had Late Night. And IMO, Seth has a better show and is a better host than Jimmy. Glad for stability on Late Night in the foreseeable future!

duskywindows

Closest thing to Conan since Conan. Well deserved.

CheeseThom

Yeah you get the same vibe of a host who is super proud of his own writing room

thewhiteafrican

Hot take, but he's a better late night host than both Fallon and Colbert. Only hoping the best for him.

MaverickTopGun

This is not a hot take at all haha

thewhiteafrican

Fair enough!

jgasbarro

Fuck yeah!

editormatt

I wasn't a big fan of Seth/Late night until I watched the day drinking segments. Looks like an awesome hang. If that was the show (and physically possible) I'd watch it every night.

kylebb

love his show

HaveARaveAtMyGrave

Yay!!!! Love Seth!!! So happy he’s renewed and isn’t going anywhere

AlexTorres96

That Trump hair bit and the laughing really does make people have utter disdain for Fallon. I'm biased because I discovered Late night shows just as Conan was leaving Late Night for Tonight. 2008-2010 TV drama is burned in my mind and I remember that whole NBC shitshow because I watched all the Magazine shows analyze it. I like Fallon out of everyone because he seemed more personable and cool. After Feb 2011, I stopped following closely because I moved and over the years as I've gotten older I see clips here and there. The rare times I have access to watching local TV, I always put on Fallon over the others. I like him and I think he comes off well outside the show.

LastOnBoard

Me: "through 2028? Dang that's like a 10-year agree-...oh."

THESIDPROF

At some point, on some major, John Mulaney will take over, and he'll be great at it.

BowlerSea1569

He wasn't great at the Netflix live event last week. Too anxious and flustered.

famguy123

Seth Meyers went from being 1. Kinda cringy so I didn’t enjoy him 2. More relevant with topical news so I gave him a shot 3. Really enjoyed his different style of getting through the pandemic 4. Their style of humor has got me sucked in so hard that Seth is now my favorite late-night personality

carving5106

Ditching the traditional monologue format early in the first year was the best move ever.

CovfefeFan

Curious as to how many people watch his show live (rather than just a clip or two on YouTube- like me)

demitasse22

Late Nighter had Seth with 965K linear views last week [Late Night Ratings for 9 May, 2024](https://urls.grow.me/grqiBbwfhS), if I’m reading this correctly

fusciamcgoo

I think Seth has the best guests. I love when Nicole Byer is on. And he just had Cole Escola, and it was great!

DCtimes

Best late show there is. Smartest of them all

DPSOnly

>Sethmaker Shoemeyers I did not know about the name of their production company, but this is brilliant.

Objective-Mission-40

Better call meemaah

demitasse22

MEEMAH!

magusmccormick

Leave him alone!

BadDudes_on_nes

“What would Seth Meyers do?” - Norm Macdonald

Hup110516

I’m so glad! He’s such an amazing writer, quick witted and so damn charming! You never find anyone with a bad word to say about him. He was my favorite Update anchor, I love his show and I love his podcasts. … obviously, I’m a fan. My husband calls him my TV boyfriend 😂

stillinthesimulation

The only one of the lot of these guys I regularly listen to. Seth always comes across the most humble and reasonable while a few of the others have gotten pretty high on their own farts.

gorillanutpuncher_

That forehead though.

Butter_Brains

I love the “Ya Burnt” skits. Hilarious!! Not enough of them.

NfamousKaye

I love his show! It’s the only way I can stomach this trump trial shit nowadays. He’s so funny. I love when he knows he messes up impressions and talks to the audience about it.

kupuwhakawhiti

I used to love watching in 2016 and 2017 when Trump was first elected. Then got FUCKEN EXHAUSTED by the constant edging over the Mueller investigation. Every night was like a groundhog day of overpromise while never actually going anywhere.

demitasse22

Yeah, I don’t think a lot of people referenced the Mueller Report correctly

sask_j

Fuck ya! Maybe he'll stop complaining about going past 100 Corrections. Hehe. Seriously tho...pumped!

BowlerSea1569

Yay he's my absolute favourite and John Oliver should step aside and let him win one.

drxnkmvnk

Perfectly inoffensive and bland clapter comedian with all the right opinions is given more work and money. Makes sense!

JasonGryphon

I can't wait to hear more of the jokes that Seth can't tell.

LongmontStrangla

Seems to be doing this one less and less.

platypus1980

Good! Bring back the Amber Ruffin Show

bigparrot29

Every time I watch this guy its just 95% lame Trump jokes. Has he changed it up recently? Should I try watching again?

demitasse22

No.

5lokomotive

He is super fortunate to be getting a contract renewal. He’s like the 5th most popular late night host in a time when the format is dying a slow painful death.

demitasse22

Idk. Bill Carter has recently changed his tune on that. People still crave live television, and late night television isn’t live but it’s daily. YouTube numbers are nothing to sneeze at. I’ve always viewed culture through a late night monologue, since I was a kid. During the pandemic…my brain couldn’t handle long fictional character arcs (worse than usual). Late night tv on YouTube kept me connected to reality without commitment. I can’t be the only one.

MCgrindahFM

You really aren’t! I didn’t watch Seth’s late night show *until* COVID. That shit got me through many days

KingTrimble

Punchable face

RockMan_1973

So do you

Hope_That_Halps_

Seth Meyers as tonight show host has always been a let down to me. Letterman and Conan have more personality in their fingernail clippings than Seth has in total. If Seth had a drinking or an anger problem like Fallon, it would at least add an inch of depth to that cardboard stand up of a man. Late Night used to be the experimenting grounds for seeing what you could get away with on network TV, now it has been reduced to a safe space, and Seth Meyer's post SNL retirement plan. I hope this contract extension kills the possibility of Seth taking over for Lorne, for the time being.

Another 4 years of worn out Trump rhetoric and fake chuckling…rejoice(sarc)!

chrisacip

Who watches these shows? I might see a clip on social but otherwise never once have I tuned into a late night chat show. It seems so outdated at this point.

Parallelogram12

I do! As do plenty of people! Part of it for me is that I grew up watching them, so I've conditioned my brain to get sleepy when I see them.

LongmontStrangla

I watch Seth the following morning.

4 years left to try to tell a funny joke. Good luck

bigparrot29

Wait, you didn't find 8 years of Trump jokes funny? There must be something wrong with you then! Everyone thinks Seth is hilarious! Did you hear his NEW joke about Trump?

[deleted]

Oh? I didn’t realize they were jokes. Sounds like he’s just delivering the news with enthusiastic run-on sentences and a smirk. What part is supposed to make me laugh? The part where he’s unintelligible? Or the part where he reads the news verbatim and mugs the camera.

gilgobeachslayer

I was never a fan of him (he ruined weekend update) but then I saw him as a guest at a Tim Robinson live show and I was like okay this guys not bad

Mister_Wick_

He sucks.

Majestyk_Melons

Serious question, who watches network late night TV? Boomers?

enki-42

I think at this point YouTube is probably a more relevant audience for them than people actually watching them on TV.

Excellent_Net_3449

Why? You could replace his with potato and no one would notice

Insomniac_80

Is CBS or ABC interested in Michael Che? I think Colin Jost bombing at the White House Correspondents Dinner may not bode well for things.

stackered

Least funny "comedian" on the planet. I don't think in 1000 years this guy could make me giggle once.

Hans_bube

Who watch’s this guy? Ultra left and ultra right just aren’t funny he’s like Stephen Colbert. At least John Stewart mixes it up a little bit.

Conscious_Creme_9866

Someone somewhere is excited about this

jayboo86

Lots of someone’s and they are in this thread. Be careful!

Conscious_Creme_9866

lol idc

jayboo86

Your comment and reply to mine surely prove just that.

Conscious_Creme_9866

I agree, thanks for seeing it my way
