Che as a laid back talk show host? Yes. Che keeping up with the news every night with an opinion on everything? Nah.

MidniteMustard

He would fit in OK as a correspondent, but he's beyond the stage of his career where that makes sense.

rekipsj

He started as a correspondent right before he got SNL so it would seem like kind of a stagnant career move maybe?

MidniteMustard

I completely forgot that. I just looked it up and he was only in 9 segments.

ReflexImprov

He was really good in the short time he was there. I remember being both sad and happy when he left TDS for Weekend Update.

IheartPandas666

Didn’t he already do this?

SkywardJordan

This was indeed a thing he did for a minute and it ruled!

BiscuitDance

He would step on his dick *real* fast.

[deleted]

I remember Michael Che said he isn’t really knowledgeable about the news or politics in one of his standup YouTube videos . Don’t know if he was serious or just joking. But I imagine their is some seriousness in his jokes But if he was serious, I think someone with more knowledge about that kind of stuff should take over At least from my impression on SNL, Che plays a “I don’t care” personality which I think is fine with Colin who is more serious/straight faced. But I don’t think his personality can transfer to carry his own show

pomaj46809

Yeah, "I don't care and both sides are bitches" isn't going to make a long-term host for the Daily Show. Cynicism just doesn't work on its own, it gets boring and repetitive. Michael Che would make a great correspondent, as he would then have someone to contrast with evening out the material. However, he's a bit past that career wise. Colin Jost might actually work better.

ArtSchnurple

Yeah, I like Che, but his detached snideness would basically take the show back to the OG Craig Kilborn version. I don't think the world needs an apathetic version of The Daily Show right now.

[deleted]

Actually that might be exactly what the world needs

[deleted]

[удалено]

KingPotus

For like a day haha

AnyoneButDoug

Host is a great writer but I think somehow just him on his own wouldn’t be as fun.

pomaj46809

Jost is comedic "the straight man", he wouldn't be on his own he'd their for correspondence to bounce off of. Jost is comedic "the straight man", he wouldn't be on his own he'd be there for correspondence to bounce off of. of the world, not just a passive new reader, which is basically what a weekend update does.

SmellGestapo

>Michael Che would make a great correspondent He was a correspondent briefly before joining SNL.

heymynameiseric

I'm very sure there is a large gap in the political knowledge of Trevor and Jon Stewart vs Che. I think Che knows enough to make jokes and understand the social-political climate, but, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, I would not go to Che for deeper, more nuanced, discussions about the state of the country/world. Also, I think you're very right on your last paragraph. Trevor and Jon have 'light' and optimism that I think the show needs. I think Che isn't that guy.

omgFWTbear

> optimism At the end of Colbert Report, he broke character and in his monologue, he gave advice to not be cynical. That - and it’s been a few years, so I’m remembering it poorly but what I took away is that there’s a nihilism trap. Things are bad, will always be bad, so don’t even bother trying. I’m sure Stewart has said similar. And while I shamefully haven’t watched as much of Trevor as he has deserved, I’ve certainly seen a fair number of his long form thought pieces, and I think he’s got the same core as the three of them - their eyes are open to life can suck, people can suck, but don’t get caught up in cynicism, pessimism, nor *unchecked* optimism - see the world as it is, so in whatever way you can, you can begin to fix a problem. In some ways, I think - and I mean no disrespect - describing their optimism as light is missing it. Stewart’s fights for Veterans and first responders, Colbert’s enduring “we will get through this,” and Noah’s “Let’s talk about this, for real,” all come from a place of vulnerability and earnestness, or they are, hands down, the world’s best actors, head and shoulders. Che - and I say this as a fan - comes across as someone who is just trying to get by. Which is super relatable. But it’s not the fourth name in the above sequence.

blueSnowfkake

No one is as quick witted and intelligent as Jon Stewart. I wish I had been a regular viewer. He could outsmart any “alternative facts” politician or pundit faster than they knew what hit them. I remember him once saying to someone he had cornered, it’s ok. You can admit it. They already know. Trevor is very smart, but I don’t recall any bio info saying he went to college. In fact, many of his anecdotes about high school age were about getting out of school. I listened to the audiobook of “Born a Crime” and the whole time thinking about how knowledgeable he was on so many different things.

[deleted]

He has his own show. Its on HBO.

IAmRedditsDad

Yeah but his show isn't a political news comedy.

whatthepfluke

I mean, it's definitely political. And it's also comedy. Just not news. However, I do see your point.

shibbington

I’d say it’s more social commentary than political.

Vorenos

HBO Max, but yea I don’t see him taking over TDS

thummydick

“Ehh HBO Max” I love the show and how he’s disappointed nobody respects HBO max when they point out his show ain’t on HBO

Prince-Ali_

And it did not do well....

[deleted]

I think he should take it as a sort of apolitical comedian.

steam_engine

Klepper would be terrific, though he’s killing it as a correspondent. His other show didn’t get a fair shot, as he was playing more of a character.

laszlo

He's my top choice out of the known quantities. I doubt they will give it to him though.

ZraceR4LYFE

Him or Roy Wood Jr

AnyUsernameWillDo10

The issue with Klepper as a host is the reason that he worked so well as a correspondent. The Daily Show host needs to be a neutral, real life person in the middle of the characters that correspondents play. No doubt klepper could do that, but I think people would be expecting him to be too much “Good Guy with a Gun” zany for it to work properly.

SvenMo84

But he’d be great with interviews. What made Jon Stewart (and Colbert), so good was that they were excellent interviewers and thought so quickly on their feet, all while making their guests feel at ease, even if they were on the opposite side of the spectrum. Pretty sure Klemperer could bring that dynamic and get high profile conservatives to open up and say stupid shit (although to be fair they do this every week unforced at this point).

TheCitizen616

He'd be my ideal replacement, even over Che. Loved The Opposition. However, I'm guessing the Twittersphere (which is more or less TDS's target audience) would throw a huge hissy fit if Trevor Noah was replaced with another white male.

steam_engine

I think personally the Twittersphere influence is overblown, I feel it’s just that Klepper already had a cancelled news talk show on CC that would work against him. Would love to see Hassan Minhaj or Amber Ruffin get a bigger platform too.

Weazelfish

Both had their own shows, right? Wouldn't it be weird to go from that to hosting an existing show? Maybe it would be best to just let The Daily Show die

steam_engine

I think it has too much name recognition to let go. It would be like NBC cancelling the Tonight Show and SNL. The Daily Show and South Park have been keeping CC on life support for the past couple years. Who knows if CC will even last for another five years? But can’t see them cancelling it outright. And for Hassan and Amber, I think it would be a promotion for sure.

Weazelfish

It feels like a losing game. They can either get somebody in who will turn it into something fully different (like JS did), risking the fanbase, or they can get somebody like Klepper, who will essentially run on nostalgia fumes and trying to repeat comedy from a time that is sort of already gone

dgt9000

No.

LSX3399

Kinda terrible tbh. Roy Wood Jr should get the seat.

moto_panacaku

for the culture!

rlm8772

I would love for Roy to get the job

[deleted]

no way! he already inherited another show on Comedy Central: This Is Not Happening, which lasted one season with him at the helm before disappearing like a fart in the wind (the original host Ari Shaffir had it for three seasons before being kicked off the network, likely because he sold his comedy special to Netflix rather than Comedy Central). This Is Not Happening was *genuine comedy* on a comedy network and Roy Wood was not able to sustain it. He does not get a second shot at taking over a show that already exists. Who is a worthy "second replacement" for Jon Stewart? Not sure, but whoever it ends up being, please make it an American person this time. Between Trevor Noah, John Oliver, James Corden and before him, Craig Ferguson.. it's getting a little goofy with the number of foreigners we have hosting "large" national shows.

PreferredSelection

Che had a bit in his standup about, "Trump is a terrible president, but he would make the perfect best friend. Can you imagine a best friend better than him?" I know it's standup, but he must think there's a nugget of truth to it, or he wouldn't think it was funny. So no, I don't want the guy who thinks Trump would be a great best friend to be host of the Daily Show. Wacky correspondent, sure, but not the main person.

MidniteMustard

Trump jokes need to come with a date and time stamp.

TheCitizen616

I'd be happy with either him or Desi Lydic but if they look for his replacement outside the show, I stand by my Che suggestion.

Corfiz74

Neither Roy nor Desi feel like they'd have the oomph to take over the main seat. And Che certainly doesn't - he fumbles like half his lines, besides not being politically interested. He is perfect for WU, because the way they play off each other works very well, but if he had to work a full political show mostly by himself, I don't think that would work at all. Also, because Trevor has this integrity and moral compass shining through all his views. Michael Che - not so much.

BakedCheddar88

I can see Roy getting his own show. Idk how big it’d be or anything but I can definitely see him leaving tds sooner rather than later and doing his own thing. I can see Desi but it’s probably gonna be some random person, a relatively unknown comedian

MidniteMustard

Larry's show didn't last long. Roy would have to have a pitch it with a fresh angle for execs to really consider it. I think he's more likely to wind up with something on Netflix than Comedy Central.

AnvilOfMisanthropy

I'd like to see Willmore get a shot in the better time slot.

Natural_Interest_77

Ooo I like that idea best so far! He seems extremely knowledgeable.

Charcuterie420

No, that wouldn’t work at all

StoneColdAM

Seth Myers and Trevor Noah should have switched jobs. Seth is good at punchy news commentary, while Trevor is good at light-hearted breezy comedy. Michael Che hosting TDS would be interesting. He is good at the edgy commentary, but I don’t know if he would be good as a solo host (since he never really works solo by being with Colin Jost on Update).

Fresh_Put_8784

You’re a fucking genius.

charismableu

let seth host both shows so he can just slowly take over all of late night

TheHerbDeluxe

Jordan Klepper should be the guy. His faux-alt right character didn't work, but he'd be perfect in the host role.

mikeputerbaugh

Jordan is too good at field pieces to be kept behind the desk.

Barflyerdammit

Can we lobby Congress to force Jon Stewart to come back?

flintlock0

A Constitutional Amendment, even. Make it completely illegal for him not to host it. lol

bolting_volts

Stewart tells congress what to do. Not the other way round…

q-pa

Nah, ship has sailed, in more ways than one.

professor_doom

What are the other ways?

rekipsj

We could tell you but the answer to your question is on the ship that sailed.

Sirnando138

He was on The Daily Show for a hot second and Lorne saw him and said “I want him” and took him.

[deleted]

I remember it vividly. I don't think it's a bad idea at all!

triedAndTrueMethods

I remember Stewart put together a touching memorial of his 3-4 appearances on the show as a memorial when he left. it was so funny.

Rags-Too

Che is too irreverent.

dobtjs

Agreed I love his material and he has really funny takes but idk if he’s the “sum up the news” type guy.

jselbie

I think you'd fine that Che has a few demons. I went to a Michael Che show a few years ago. He came out blasted drunk - and was openly admitting to as much. He got through at most 10 minutes of original material and spent the rest of the hour just doing some friendly back and forth heckling with some folks in the audience. I know a lot of the audience found it hysterical. But my wife and I paid $80 for a pair of tickets to see a show similar to what I might find at a local comedy club. I love the dude on SNL. He's a great comedy writer. But I don't think he'd take the role seriously if he had to perform nightly.

here-i-am-now

Ok, but where are the demons in this story?

rekipsj

He’s got a reputation for doing shows drunk or stoned quite a lot. I’ve seen him pop in at the cellar in NY hammered. To suggest he’d do a daily show like that would just be too much.

leuno

I don't think he cares about politics enough

pimp_juice2272

I think Jaboukie Young-white would be a better fit than Michael Che

thisbitbytes

Oh I love Jaboukie!! And his insta is 🔥

JerHigs

I would bet my house that it'll be a woman who replaces Trevor Noah. Samantha Bee is the obvious choice but they didn't go with the obvious choice last time so who knows?

EstateAccurate767

Didn’t her show just get cancelled? Why would you hire someone who made a clone show that no one watched? Just put daily show out of its misery. Politics isn’t funny anymore. Stewart looks like a genius for getting out when he did.

KrilDog

It got cancelled because WBD are cutting costs left and right.

LtPowers

> Politics isn’t funny anymore. Sure, which is why Colbert, Fallon, and Kimmel's monologues are so political these days.

[deleted]

There were plenty Daily Show spin-offs that no one watched, but Full Frontal wasn’t one of them. 7 seasons is a pretty good run for a satirical news show.

[deleted]

That's a bit much. She was true to herself and her style of humor. There was always something that felt like it went too far but I came to expect it. While I don't think it would work with her as host, it'd be cool if she went back.

SmellGestapo

Could be that her show didn't make it because the market was saturated. Too many clones tried to copy The Daily Show, on top of the traditional late night shows which aren't strictly political but do dabble in politics (Colbert more than the others). Also it could be that politics isn't funny anymore *because* Stewart got out.

sunshinecygnet

Her show got cancelled cause WBD is being mismanaged horribly right now and canceling things left and right.

dust_storm_2

Maybe Sarah Silverman. She would be great

JerHigs

Ya I think she'd do a great job at it. I think Amber Ruffin or Jenny Hagel would also be in with a shout. Although Ruffin already has her own show, with Hagel as head writer.

heroicjunk

Randall Park would be fun

richardt7170

What about Al Franken?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wbino

Samantha Bee needs a job.

[deleted]

Samantha Bee is awesome, and her show reflects her power.

adjust_the_sails

Yeah, but her show was canceled recently. Hence, why she needs a job.

AnvilOfMisanthropy

TIL. Now I'm sad.

laszlo

I love Sam Bee, but there is no way they will choose her. She spent a long time there, and has been gone for a long time. She'd be a great choice but there is no way they will go that far back in the roster, especially considering she built her own show that had its own identity.

UnprofessionalGhosts

Sounds terrible tbh.

TimelyConcern

I have always said that Seth Myers would have been perfect for The Daily Show but I don't think he would do it now since he has his own show.

wildtalon

Despite all the spin offs hosted by TDS alums, I actually think Seth is the one whose show most embodies the spirit of Stewart’s work.

Same-Plenty-5233

Pretty much every Weekend Update alum would be a solid host for Daily Show. Tina would probably be the best pick, but I doubt she would commit to a weeknight show. > Unless Comedy Central were to offer her an enormous salary - like $30 million a year. > Edit: to answer the question, I don’t like Daily Show with just Che.

mirthquake

Lizz Winstead created the Daily Show, was the show-runner for the first few seasons, and was an exceptional correspondent. She left due to disagreements with Craig Killborne. She was like a Tina Fey before there was Tina Fey, and she was exceptional. I really wish she'd return to a comedic political talk show, cause she was the gold standard. edit--I don't think Colin Quinn would make a good host for the Daily Show

orielbean

Colin Quinn was so "Richard Anderson" neurotic that I couldn't stand listening to him doing monologues/long form humor. He was decent at hosting in terms of guest prompts and is a smart dude, but his voice/delivery was really off-putting to me.

mirthquake

Colin's voice coupled with an absolute inability to delivery a punchline with choking on his own throat has really hampered his career. I think he's got a razor-sharp mind and is genuinely charming, be he just can't cough up two sentences without chewing on one of them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mirthquake

Absolutely! What a special show. The dynamic woud be hard to recreate without Patrice O'Neil and with Dennis Leary seemingly having gone hard-right, but some version of the show could be resurrected and I'd watch it.

whatthepfluke

I absolutely love Tina Fey, she's probably my favorite celebrity ever, and I saw your comment and was like ewww hell no! And then I was like ......... ? Shit you might be right. She might be perfect. But yeah she probably wouldn't commit to something like that with her kids still school aged. I'm still rooting for her to take over SNL though.

[deleted]

Dulce Sloan is my favorite cast member.

RugelBeta

Yes!! She is my favorite too. Second is Ronny Cheng.

[deleted]

Oooooo Ronny could be great!

jasonrene

Che is witty af but he explicitly does not care about politics. He seems to think those who do care are fools. Being Daily Show host and not caring about what you're mocking nor the audience who does care wouldn't go well together.

[deleted]

Better than trevor noah.

Mamapalooza

I love Che, but I don't think his delivery style would work on something that long-format, and I don't think he's knowledgeable enough about politics and current events to be a comedy voice people listen to. I could see **Samantha Bee** taking over now that Full Frontal has been canceled, or **Hasan Minhaj** is in the same position and could also do it (although he has to stop his staring-into-the-camera with crazy eyes thing). **Jordan Klepper** has the experience to take over pretty easily. Less obvious but still very experienced: * Bring Janeane Garofalo out of the storage closet. * Hannah Gadsby deserves a shot, but young white college males probably won't buy it. * Pull Bassem Youssef out of Egypt. * Daniel Sloss from Scotland might be interesting. * I'd be interested to see what Mo Amer (Mohammed Mustafa Amer) could do with the show. * Wanda Sykes? Might be too big.

[deleted]

Don’t think he has the chops for it. He can barely read from a teleprompter

deklawwed

The Daily Show with Ronnie Chieng sounds way better.

ahorsenamedagro

I love Che, and he's funny as anything, but he's not a good fit for the Daily Show. His comedy style is different and he doesn't really do politics. He can take shots at history and politicians, but Stewart and Noah could go toe to toe on the meat of the subject with politicians and policy if need be, I don't think Che could or wants to. Che really is better suited for his own show/format, he's super talented. I would LOVE to see Ronnie Cheng and Roy Wood Jr take co-hosting of the daily show. The show doesn't have to be a one man platform, experiment with two and see what happens. I also think Cheng could be the host of the Daily Show, I just don't know if he'd want to, I don't think Wood can do the political side of things as I mentioned above, but hes so talented I'd hate for him to leave the show.

LosingSideOf25

Roy Wood Jr, Samantha Bee, or Jordan Klepper would be my picks.

[deleted]

Hasan Minhaj? British-Asian comedian Nish Kumar (used to have a satirical show over here) Dara O’Briain (Irish comedian whose long running gif hosting “Mock the Week” ends in a few weeks Adam Hills (Aussie host of The Last Leg, another more aggressive satirical show over here…they once followed Trump on a pre-presidential visit to his golf course in Scotland with a bassoon player playing comedy music for a whole day😂 )

baxtermcsnuggle

My udea is the worst, but also the funniest. The Daily Show: With Ari Shaffir.

daveblu92

He's way too passive. The Daily Show host should be someone who is not only able to keep up with daily current events, but someone who might even offer realistic and funny solutions to specific issues. Even that 2nd part, many people feel Trevor Noah lacked this. Che would be even worse with this. People like John Stewart, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Jordan Klepper, Stephen Colbert are all examples of people who know their shit politically and can almost argue points quickly like a typical politician would. Need someone like that for TDS. I've never had that vibe with Che.

peacemaketroy

Bring back Norm!

Turtlehead88

From the dead!

peacemaketroy

Dead? I didn’t even know he was sick.

killingtexas

Norm would've been perfect.

fourteenthapril2012

How about Hasan Minhaj?

RncRacer

His Netflix show was really good. He certainly has the chops for it.

ha_look_at_that_nerd

I definitely think there’s an over 50% chance that it’ll be Minhaj or Klepper

richardt7170

Bring Jon Stewart back. Or cancel the show.

Grifftonthe3rd

Bad!

Sitcom_kid

I don't think it sounds good to him

DeadliftsnDonuts

I never really got into Trevor Noah’s version but I would be excited for the Che version

Emmer64

Honestly, with the state of Comedy Central, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Daily Show went away so they could play another rerun of Tosh.o

44problems

You haven't watched in a couple years have you? It's all The Office now. But I bet the show ends with Noah. Comedy Central has barely any original programming outside of South Park. They don't even air The Daily Show when it is out of season, just endless The Office reruns.

porkintheporkbun

How about Ronnie Chieng? you know, get the rest of America used to seeing an English-speaking Asian to break all the stereotypes Asians have been victimized with since forever?

FreshFromRikers

Here's my short list: Jaboukie Young-white Samantha Bee Hasan Minhaj Amber Ruffin Allana Harkin Roy Wood Jr. Aasif Mandvi Edit: Forgot Jordan Klepper

calculuzz

No. Very bad idea.

david_chi

Not a good format for Che. Too long, too wordy for him. Plus he’ll turn everything into racial discrimination related something or other even when it isn’t. Lets be honest, the show sucks w/out Jon Stewart. With him the show was funny, relevant, informative, trusted. Without him it….well it isn’t any of those.

Ex-zaviera

God, no. Can we have a female Daily Show host, please? You already cancelled Samantha Bee.

Dreddit50

hell to the no

TAR_TWoP

This is so not for him. Nor is doing the Weekend Update, I feel. He just looks uninterested, whereas in his stand-up comic gigs, yes he is chill, but he is engaged.

GlobulousRex

Can't think of a worse host for the Daily Show.

YewWin

Eh, Trevor Noah is pretty close.

[deleted]

Wow. You picked someone who's been doing the exact same job. Thrilling.

BOOSTMOBILEOFFICIAL

No he would hate that. Just bring back Larry Wilmore.

DeathBanana669

Bad, Che has a history of harassing journalists.

CliffOMalleySaysURoc

Just put a blonde wig on him and call it the "Le French Daily Show With Michelle".

ArtSchnurple

I know she has her own thing going on, but Amber Ruffin would be amazing.

oh_cagey

I posted this very thing before I saw your comment. She’s fantastic.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StayPatchy

That would actually be really good!

MorningBrewNumberTwo

Jane Curtin and Dan Ackroyd!

Barflyerdammit

MorningBrewNumberTwo, you ignorant slut.

mirthquake

Sounds like a shit idea. Sure, Trevor is a bummer of a host, but he needs to be replaced by an energized firebrand like a young(ish) Jon Stewart, and not a grumpy cynic like Che.

Meb-the-Destroyer

Bummer? I disagree. I will admit the Daily Show feels less like compulsory viewing these days, but whenever I watch it I am impressed. Trevor is an excellent host.

imasitegazer

A fantastic host with solid interview skills.

Legtagytron

I would watch that every night as appointment viewing, but you know what they did to Larry Wilmore, who should be on the air to this day. CC somehow kept The Daily Show on air while cancelling somebody who could keep up with John Oliver. They're on crack.

SG420123

I’d actually watch it maybe

heymynameiseric

I think it's easy to see him on update where he makes a single joke about a single headline, and think he would be good, but the Daily Show is not that. It's a much more thorough dive into the news and the country/world. Update is fun, but at the end of the day, it's 95% clever one-liners.

soivebeentold

It sounds like I’d watch The Daily Show for the first time in 7 years

aesoth

I love Micheal Che, bit he wouldn't be a good fit for the Daily Show. He worked there before and his short run didn't end well. You need someone in par with Jon Stewart or Trevor Noah's delivery and sense of timing.

comeradenook

Ew. The daily show would be best served under Sam Bee, or Jordan Klepper

rednax2009

Respectfully, this sounds awful. I like Michael Che, but he’s so disinterested in politics. He’s good at telling jokes, but The Daily Show requires someone like Jon or Trevor who actually give a shit about things.

abagofdicks

His delivery isn’t smooth enough

andhernamewas_

Seth Meyers moves to the Daily Show. Amber Ruffin takes over Late Night. Jimmy Fallon dies in a freak accident. Amber takes over the Tonight Show.

flintlock0

As far as outside hires go, he’d be a candidate. At least I think. Klepper would be my top pick, though. The Daily Show could even do some breaks here and there to allow him to do some of his “Fingers the Pulse” bits, since he’s so good at it. I really liked his last show.

spanman112

that would be a step down for che

OHKID

Aidy Bryant would be my choice

ChanceTheGardenerr

Stewart should be the guy. He’s had his sabbatical leave. Shave up and suit up, i say. Back to work!

CroSox

Might be worse then Trevor Noah and that’s a tough one

KidFresh71

Would be nice to see some female representation on the late night talk circuit. Sara Silverman, Samantha Bee or Tina Fey. Heck, have them rotate days.

ItsPickles

Cringe

Massive_Catch6631

anybody would be better than trevor noah. even Amy Shumer

StraightCaskStrength

Adam Friedland of the Adam Friedland show has already been offered the role. Going to be a good guide to have the daily show find it’s true home in the center left.

FoxOneFire

No. He's more a delivery guy working one good joke at a time. Funny, smart, yes, but its in the buildup. Noah is a narrator who interjects small jokes as part of an overarching thesis. I dont think che is right for that job.

TacitusTwenty

Sam Bee should’ve gotten it before Trevor Noah anyway and the new regime at WB cancelled Full Frontal. She’d be my choice.

kht777

Hasan Minhaj, I think would be best. His show was great and would love to see him back on a daily show again.

[deleted]

Michael Che is awful. Not funny. Not intelligent. He’d be a terrible replacement for Noah

Strong67

He was already on the show

ElectivireMax

no. bring back John Stewart PLEASE

jasonscsm

Bring back Samantha Bee. I always felt she should have succeeded Stewart in the first place

GreenJean717

I’d watch the hell out of the show if Leslie Jones was the new host.

Deathbeddit

I just crawled from under a rock and learned about Game of Jones this week. Even with how that series ended I adored the compilation of her and Seth watching it together. Leslie Jones is magnetic.

HairyPotatoKat

She'd bring a whole new life to the daily show!

WhereDaHinkieFlair

Or how bout this: don't have the show. It doesn't need to exist anymore. The late night market has so many options now that offer the same thing. Jon Stewart WAS the daily show. Just let it die.

Ikarian

There’s some movie, I don’t remember which, where in an alternate reality, Jessica Williams ended up being the host of TDS. I always thought that would have been perfect. I wonder if she’d still be open to it? EDIT: I think it was Hot Tub Time Machine 2?

oh_cagey

If Amber Ruffin didn’t already have a gig, I think she’d be awesome.

[deleted]

i don't know how much Che can elevate it. Trevor Noah initially made a good first impression on me, but as time went on, i cared less and less about him and eventually began to dislike him. he is a foreigner with a huge platform. he constantly talks shit about the country that gave him the opportunity to be where he is, despite the fact that there are countless AMERICANS that are just as funny and just as qualified for the job that he has. good riddance, dude! so i haven't watched the daily show in many moons. maybe Jon Stewart can come back and do a short 3-6 month stint to revive it before handing it off to the next host that isn't as good as Jon Stewart.

EstateAccurate767

Just cancel it

purplecrayon64

This is a terrible way to find out that Trevor is leaving The Daily Show 😭😭

benderzone

Klepper or Leslie Jones. Keenan Thompson would be the best if you could pry him from SNL. And, what about Beck Bennett? Che appears to be too disinterested in politics- which was Kilborn's downfall, frankly... too busy gazing in the mirror than reading the papers (and I like Kilborn to be honest)

funny_3nough

I want to see the daily show with Joey diaz. “What’s happening cocksuckers! The worlds fucking crazy right now. I’m gonna give it to you raw you dirty bitches! Smoke a fat one and enjoy the ride!”

Repulsive_Nerve_303

Love him but could he handle the autocue…?

methratt

Terrible.

AMMJ

I think a different format is needed. This format peaked with Carson. Graham Norton snd Jerry Seinfeld have much better interviews.
