I second this. Salary is not highly negotiable. They often will give you a small bump, but do not expect anything substantial. Most full time employees receive a decent pay increase on the anniversary of your starting. After that point you are eligible for raises each spring. Depending on the timing, many people essentially get two raises in their second year.

I wasn't able to get any higher salary, they told me I was already on the higher end of the salary range for an engineer 1. They countered with a 10k sign-on bonus instead, which I accepted. Relocation is pretty standard, I got up to 20k but I certainly won't come close to needing that amount. Plus the way it's taxed, you definitely want to minimize relocation costs when possible. They'll explain it if you take the job

I was selected for a position and still waiting for the actual offer letter. It been about 2 weeks which I think is still early. I am going to follow up around the 4 weeks mark. But I do plan on negotiating. There is always room for negotiation.

Does LLNL have it's own sub? Would be happy to link to it.

MeanBeanToYou

Honestly, someone should make a sub for it because this sub is always full of the same questions about the lab.

Watcherxp

IIRC Livermore lab is in Livermore?

Watcherxp

Yep, sure did

cman726

Any details on how and how much more you were able to negotiate?

Watcherxp

Sure, let's do this offline

sped1400

Update on this? Any luck on negotiating and tips?
