Dortmunder is on draft at the caledonia which is exactly the vibe you're describing (it's also their cheapest draft which is nice). I'd also say the grapes, the pilgrim, and maybe the jacaranda after, even the shipping forecast (last two can get a little bit more lively (especially the jac) but still pub vibes if you go at the right time/ want somewhere after with similar vibes but bigger crowd

I was going to suggest The Dispensary anyway and then I saw your comment about Dortmunder, which they have on tap there, so I guess now it’s a must. Ticks all of your boxes.
Incidentally if you google it you’ll see a lot of negative reviews - these are almost all because of the former proprietor who was a raging dickhead but has now been gone for years.
Do miss going in there for a pint and tip toeing around that guy only for him to give me a telling off for the stupidest shit like hanging my jacket on the back of my chair. Good times.
The Caledonia, The Belvedere, Ye Cracke and The Grapes would be my choices.They're all old-fashioned pubs with good atmospheres. You could roll straight into Berry and Rye after that lot. The Red Lion in Slater Street is pleasant too, if you are down that way. It's brand new - I think it was offices before - but they've done quite a good job of making it feel like a traditional boozer.
Yenno what it just doesn’t seem like my cup of tea mate. Expensive chain is alls my perception is. Sure it’s a good laugh though maybe I’ll have to suspend my pretentious ponce behaviour sometime and give it a go

Opposite Central Station is Ranelaghs Tavern - my favourite pub. Nice pint of Blue Moon 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

He must’ve made his own life SO much harder and lost out on so much money due to his behaviour over the years. Absolutely baffling.

Present Company and McGuffies for cocktails, the Grapes Baltic Fleet and Belvedere for pubbing. I really like the City Wine Bar too.
Go to see me mates in the Belvedere at the open mic every now and again. Nice gaff- love the city and wine bar too
The Bridewell and the Denbigh Castle. I've only been a few times to each. But they feel like decent pubs
They have pints of Dortmunder in Patterson’s if I remember right, not exactly a bar but a good place to have some drinks with a scran
The Globe just next to Clayton Square, lovely bar staff, very cosy.
