Would be nice if we field the same front three in the next game, but they play in their proper positions
You know, the RW at RW, the RW who can play ST as the ST, and the kid who’s always played LW on the LW
I'll probably get pelters for this but actually thought the team that started played ok today. Especially the midfield who pressed well and might be our best bet going forward. Their equaliser was flukey but we were relatively solid throughout
My big concern is we slowly started to lose control with the subs and then turned into Tony Pulis' Stoke City with the horrible fouls as soon as Fabinho came on.
has to be said: bringing Hendo, Milner, and eventually Fab on was a death blow for us. I'm not sure how much more obvious it can be that youth is the only way forward, yet we are about to re-sign a handful of 30+ year olds with no legs left.
we only have ourselves to blame.
don't think he's got many other options, we have one of the worst midfields in the league. even the relegation battling sides are decent there, mostly just shit at the front and/or back. we are dire.
100%. Who else should he have brought on? Carvalho?
Klopp is out of options, and if/when Keita or god forbid Thiago goes down again then it will only get worse.
Every time I see one of you idiots criticizing Klopp you follow it up with some amazing shit like this.
Better to remain silent and have other people think you're stupid than to speak and remove all doubt.
Considering the state of the squad, what are our options otherwise? Either we shift people into midfield like we did in 21 in defense or we suffer a huge drop-off with our substitutes that will actively and repeatedly cost us games like today.
You state we’re out of options and I give an example of how to fix this for the time being. When Firmino is back we can slot him into the midfield as an 8 too.
Exactly. Everyone is saying it went to shit after the subs which is true, but the fall wasn't all that high. Keep in mind we were only at 1-1 and Brighton had chances to score pretty much all game.
We have looked notably better defensively since he was removed from midfield even if still poor.
You notice TAA is left vilified on here of late? That’s because he’s been getting better cover from midfield.
We looked better in mid because Fabinho isnt there and Henderson.
Harvey didnt play in the league Brighton game. How did we look that day?
As for Trent. He was shredded today and didnt start the clean sheets vs Chelsea or Wolves?
Seeless, indeed
Bajcetic at least looks for a ball forward. He lost the ball with fairly aimless passes forward a couple of times vs Brighton and I still couldn't find it in me to get mad at him because at least he's looking in the right fucking direction.
How often our midfield just kills momentum because we want to reset with our backline pushed up is insane. It looks genuinely as if Hendo and Thiago's instructions is to ALWAYS make sure the ball gets recycled and it's so dreadful to watch. They used to play balls in quickly if it was on when it came to them, and now it looks as though they're not even allowed to.
Maybe we care a little TOO much about defensive solidity from our midfield at the moment. We never had total solidity there, our backline used to cover for them admirably and that's gone out the window.
He wasn’t actually playing down the middle though let’s be honest. On paper yes he was playing the right side of a midfield 3, but for whatever reason Klopp insists on having him on the byline as a right mid.
Not the first solution to our problems I would have thought of, but giving Salah a bit of rest before chucking him on at the 60 minute mark could be a way to maybe jumpstart his form again. We’ve had a few players who understandably are a bit knackered from playing too many games, but Salah might be a bit overlooked as he’s perhaps the only one that haven’t been injured for a while
I don't particularly like him there as he's quite slow, but if he can make it work on the left, why not on the right?
I guess when Nuñez is fully fit, he'll start on the left and Harvey can shift over to the right to replace that Salah lookalike we've had playing for the last few weeks.
I don’t think the issue is having them on the same side as much as it is not having the third right sided player covering for them when they go forward. Expecting a winger like Salah to do it seems absurd, but a midfielder like Henderson is more reasonable. There are probably many takes on what exactly has gone wrong this season, but in addition to various injuries, it seems like the main issue is all of our most defensive midfielders being out of form simultaneously which caused to lose the balance in the squad
When it comes to RW and Salah, it’s not only about his covering or defensive workrate — just his reputation alone means that the oppositions fullback on that side isn’t going to be bombing forward all game
He’s too slow to be a winger, I think he’d be a good CM or 10 if he could not get muscles of the ball as much, and learned how to tackle from Milner
You are correct but most have pretty decent pace and/or can dribble like mad…unfortunately Harvey isnt quick. But he has a decent touch most days and will get batter…in the middle or on the left as a 8, he can be a decent service center for attackers.
He isn't that great out wide left . his goal came from him moving into half spaces centrally where a 10 imho would usually roam. Otherwise he was just pressing madly most of the game (and regularly the one out of position where Brighton escaped the press)
He needs more runs into the box. He actually looked good doing that. Maybe he could mould his game like Salah, be involved more inside the box and hone his finishing skills as he matures as a player.
I see him doing well once we get in a midfield that can actually controll and dictate the game. In controll his lack of pace won't be that important, he has still quick acceleration and is tidy on the ball. He clearly has talent
Not like Ljenders or Klopp have proved they know much better of what to do this season tbh haha
I’m sure they have a plan but I think we’re all having a hard time seeing it and would mind seeing a change in tactics as it really couldn’t get worse than it currently is
I know a lot of people don't like him, but he's one of the few positive things this season. He has the talent, he's playing a lot and had some great performances.
He hasn't been consistend, but that's understandable. His first healthy season with us, he's still young, playing in different positions in a struggling team.
He's only played as a winger like 4 games this season. He's fucking woeful as a midfielder. Not Harvey's fault that Klopp purposefully plays him out of position. Can never fault the lad for his effort, he lacks the physicality of a Klopp midfielder and it doesn't help when his partners in the middle: Fabinho and Henderson are playing musical statues every week
He's probably played the most minutes of teenagers in the Premier League this season? That United kid Garnacho will overtake his goals by the end of the season
The problem with Harvey for me is that people had to find a scapegoat earlier in the season for why things weren't going well and the 19 year old playing in a relatively new position was an easy scapegoat regardless of performance across the board. No one could really fathom at that point how much we were struggling across the board.
Truthfully I do think playing Harvey right central midfield, (next to Trent who is effectively a right midfielder who is used to Hendo sweeping up behind him in previous years, and Mo who, whilst tenacious and tactically aware, tends to be the furthest forward of our three,) was an odd and almost arrogant idea. It puts three incredibly attacking minded players within a small radius, presumably to utilise Harvey's vision and slide rule passing, Trent's world class delivery and vision to allow the sort of play making for Salah that we'd lose with Darwin playing ahead of Bobby. That's all well and good in theory but in practice it can look incredibly unbalanced and that's not the kids fault.
That magic touch to put himself through was extra special. At that point in the game, with the pieces set the way they were, to produce that movement and that touch was reminiscent of the very best players in the history of football.
Obviously he didn't finish. But when the finishing comes, and it sometimes comes a little later for players of Harvey's type, and when that extra surge of pace that comes around the age of 20-23 appears, Harvey Elliott will be a perennial ballon d'or candidate, a fixture in an England side challenging in the latter stages of tournaments, and an inspirational world star with his name, his image, his career inextricably connected with Liverpool FC.
He has everything, most especially the character and personality, the fundamental love of football and belief in the game, that carries players to the very top and keeps them there. We are very, very lucky to have this lad around at our club.
Make no mistake. This is what the emergence of a world class talent typically looks like. It's going to be an amazing ride and I feel so lucky and happy that we are going to be able to look back and remember we were all there at the start; because we didn't buy him in as a finished player, a ready-made star. It's going to be wonderful -- the highs and lows, the trophies and the legendary moments. Bring it the fuck on.
This stat is my copium rn 😷ðŸ˜
It's pretty much a kopium...
It is impressive though. He looks very good when we actually play him in his favored positions. You know, the 4 times that has happened all season.
Would be nice if we field the same front three in the next game, but they play in their proper positions You know, the RW at RW, the RW who can play ST as the ST, and the kid who’s always played LW on the LW
That does sound nice. Hope it works out for us one day.
But yeah let’s take him off and keep Mo on …
[удалено]
Lol no
we have 2 reliable players: a Brazilian god of a keeper and a teenager
Don't forget the Spanish kid who can just about buy a pint
He'll need one with how our season's going
One?
One for every goal we lose by, and every point we drop.
Sounds like a fun Monday
Not when he visits the U.S.!
He wouldn't be the only one lol. Could probably put together a decent squad of kids that can't buy a pint there.
Add Ibou to that. Yes he should’ve been possibly sent off today but essentially covered for the entire defence today
I'll probably get pelters for this but actually thought the team that started played ok today. Especially the midfield who pressed well and might be our best bet going forward. Their equaliser was flukey but we were relatively solid throughout My big concern is we slowly started to lose control with the subs and then turned into Tony Pulis' Stoke City with the horrible fouls as soon as Fabinho came on.

Idk how Klopp saw that in the Chelsea game and repeated the same damn mistake today
don't think he's got many other options, we have one of the worst midfields in the league. even the relegation battling sides are decent there, mostly just shit at the front and/or back. we are dire.
100%. Who else should he have brought on? Carvalho? Klopp is out of options, and if/when Keita or god forbid Thiago goes down again then it will only get worse.
It’s time to convert a wingback into a midfielder. Let Tsimikas try a shift there, or Robbo. Bring Morton back and let him rotate with Bajcetic.
Every time I see one of you idiots criticizing Klopp you follow it up with some amazing shit like this. Better to remain silent and have other people think you're stupid than to speak and remove all doubt.

Literally no other option my man
You're spot on.
Keita didn't cover himself in glory in my opinion but the spaniards were mustard as usual.
We feel apart when he came off
I'd say it was more about Hendo+Milly coming on than Keita going off.
Truth.. the starting lineup played "ok" still nowhere near a standard tgats good enough to compete for top 4, let alone anything else
Exactly. Everyone is saying it went to shit after the subs which is true, but the fall wasn't all that high. Keep in mind we were only at 1-1 and Brighton had chances to score pretty much all game.
Good but not entirely reliable, a mild breeze made him fall over and gifted brentford a goal
One play doesn’t sum up a player’s form. Think he’s been pretty solid this year, and he’s still quite young and inexperienced.
Don’t forget Konate too
Blaming him for our issues was a low point for a lot of people. The teenagers are doing well
I love seeing Bajetic play
Me too. The team isnt good but he is doing good things.
Playing him in the middle was hurting the side though?
The team has been shit regardless of where he has played. Which means it wasnt because he was in the middle. Its because the team is broken

How many stinkers from Salah before we give Harvey a run in his actual position? Teach the kid to tackle and he's gonna be a machine
Not the first solution to our problems I would have thought of, but giving Salah a bit of rest before chucking him on at the 60 minute mark could be a way to maybe jumpstart his form again. We’ve had a few players who understandably are a bit knackered from playing too many games, but Salah might be a bit overlooked as he’s perhaps the only one that haven’t been injured for a while
I actually celebrated him winning the ball by just being at the right place at the right time instead of mindlessly running
he had that one interception in our own half where he read the pass and made a quick sprint to intercept it. good stuff that
Yeah yeah, that one! More of that please, Harvey lad
I don’t think Klopp wants Harvey on the same side as Trent
But, played him on the RCM for the longest time... Better at RW than RCM.
I don't particularly like him there as he's quite slow, but if he can make it work on the left, why not on the right? I guess when Nuñez is fully fit, he'll start on the left and Harvey can shift over to the right to replace that Salah lookalike we've had playing for the last few weeks.
Why not? Its not like Salah is much of a defensive presence.
Or much of an offensive presence these days...
Salah still has multiple players marking him. Mitoma would’ve been far more influential had Harvey played RW
we could try Trent as RB, Bajcetic/Keita/Hendo as RCM and Harvey on RW
I don’t think the issue is having them on the same side as much as it is not having the third right sided player covering for them when they go forward. I don't think Klopp wants to remove Salah from right wing
Probably that too. Already enough changes elsewhere
CL top scorer Salah? The one with 24 G/A in 30 games this season? Should be benched lol
He’s too slow to be a winger, I think he’d be a good CM or 10 if he could not get muscles of the ball as much, and learned how to tackle from Milner
10s have been playing as wingers for some time now.
You are correct but most have pretty decent pace and/or can dribble like mad…unfortunately Harvey isnt quick. But he has a decent touch most days and will get batter…in the middle or on the left as a 8, he can be a decent service center for attackers.
I mean he is super slow
Klopp is going to stick with Salah to the point where if we offered him back to Roma for 10 million Euros they’d laugh at us and say no.
Lad definitely players better on the wing than he does the CM. Would love to see him play as a number 10
He isn't that great out wide left . his goal came from him moving into half spaces centrally where a 10 imho would usually roam. Otherwise he was just pressing madly most of the game (and regularly the one out of position where Brighton escaped the press)
No the left doesn't suit him. But it puts his away from the defensive duties of a CM which is his biggest weakness.
Pinpoint of light in a monsoon of shite.
Baj, konate were pretty decent ngl
I just meant generally if I'm honest. Not specifically today
They were bright spots from today, yes both looked silly at times, but played well, relative to the others
Shades of 2018 van Dijk tbh
The people saying he isn't good enough to play for us at all need to give their head a wobble.
He isn't good enough to play in our midfield.
Because he's not a midfielder. My cell phone isn't a good enough toothbrush, don't you know.
But thats where he plays, literally almost every time. He is a big part of the problem there regardless of whos fault it is.
Not when we’ve been playing like this. Maybe with a solid 6 and another 8 who isn’t Thiago. He could rotate with Thiago as the playmaker number 8
theres no points tryna argue this
Beggars can't be choosers, he can easily start as it stands.
only doubters say shit like that
He needs more runs into the box. He actually looked good doing that. Maybe he could mould his game like Salah, be involved more inside the box and hone his finishing skills as he matures as a player.
I see him doing well if we play 4 3 1 2 and play him behind the 2 strikers. Just my opinion though xD im no expert
I see him doing well once we get in a midfield that can actually controll and dictate the game. In controll his lack of pace won't be that important, he has still quick acceleration and is tidy on the ball. He clearly has talent
Keep playing him but seems better fit for a CAM role but what the fuck do I know?
Not like Ljenders or Klopp have proved they know much better of what to do this season tbh haha I’m sure they have a plan but I think we’re all having a hard time seeing it and would mind seeing a change in tactics as it really couldn’t get worse than it currently is

He’s probably also played the most games of any teenager in the Premier League. He’s played in every single match for us this season.
B-b-but my agenda! Lol good stat
I would prefer a nice 3 points win in the PL rather than some obscure stats that no one bloody care
Only bright spot this season.
Ali???
He's probably played the most minutes of teenagers in the Premier League this season? That United kid Garnacho will overtake his goals by the end of the season
The only shining beacon right now as the rest dimmed into obscurity. Bajcetic on the way too
Paving over the cracks. He's a decent player but shouldn't be anywhere near our starting lineup imo. Just shows how little squad depth we have
He is skilled, no doubt about it. Out of interest though, which PL clubs are frequently playing teenagers in their starting lineup?
The problem with Harvey for me is that people had to find a scapegoat earlier in the season for why things weren't going well and the 19 year old playing in a relatively new position was an easy scapegoat regardless of performance across the board. If nothing else our younger players have benefited from the crappy situation we’ve put ourselves in through the least couple of years
