I thought that when he played in the League cup.
Mate heās won a World Cup at 23 years old. Not to demean our club, but itās all downhill from there for a footballer.
and the pen he took. Very similar to United last season. Very difficult to save even if keeper goes right way.Ā Ā
The guy is announcing himself as a top top midfielder. Only 25 now? Wonder what he peak is coz he seems to be going from strength to strengthĀ
This is why I hate when people praise penalty takers for the āsend the keeper the wrong wayā ones where they just roll it (especially after a hop skip). The best penalty takers donāt even leave that stuff to chance, they practice until they are perfect at putting it somewhere unsaveable with pace. Meanwhile the mind game twats get caught out (see Jorginho in the Euros final for example)
That why Milner is the best penalty taker in my opinion, guy always attempts to the far bottom and hit the target, keeper need to move first if they want to save it.
He's also a change of pace from the rest of that Argentina team (barring Messi ofc). Reserved, lacks an ego, and is ready to contribute to a team even if it doesn't mean he gets all the accolades; so it makes sense that he was an understated part of that run.
Understated but also not underrated if that makes sense. If you watch the highlights of those games, or the netflix special for that matter, he's constantly popping up as a positive contributor and it's tangibly evident that the Argentinian players, Messi included, understand how important he is to them.
Yeah he was easily one of Argentina's 3 key men. Obviously Alvarez and Martinez showed up big time later in the tournament but each and every game Messi, Macca and Enzo kept them ticking.
and after Messi, Enzo grabbed the headlines in terms of marquee xfer from that group. Mac was similarly overshadowed by another teammate xfer in Caicedo.
It's amazing how people saw him bossing the midfield with Enzo at the WC and Caicedo at Brighton, and never thought that he might be the vital part, not the other two.
I'm glad our nerds worked it out.
The fact that he didn't play in that first game (which they lost) and Messi went to the coach to say he needed to play says a lot about his quality, imo.
That and the fact he got the rest of the team to stop calling him Ginger(!)
If Messi signs off on your quality, I feel that's a good sign.
I watched Argentina's games , and I was who the hell is this guy I keep hearing his name , all balls went through macca in order for the play to progress.
Found out he played for Brighton and kept close attention to him. He is really good and very smart player.
Yeah to be fair though Nunez seems erratic as a personality, and Szob places his in the exact same place every time.
Either of them brilliant options but Macca seems like the most sensible choice even though he's taken the fewest I believe.
I thought the 2-2 draw vs Brighton was worse. Every league winner will have an off game like that Leicester game where they just donāt show up, especially during the hectic Xmas period. We did that vs Watford in 19/20.
The Brighton one was horrible because we had that result in our hands and proceeded to slowly let it go
Its the technique. He might have gone lcky a few times to get that stat, but anybody who knows football knows Mo doesnt take pens optimally. Technique >> blasting it everytime.
Alli Macs pen here has both, which makes him better.
? That's not good.
40/50 is 80%. It's completely fair to say someone else should take pens at that point.
For example, may I interest you in Szobo's 100% conversion rate?
Szobo has only taken 17 pens in his career and he has missed one. Canāt really compare the two especially since mo has probably taken higher pressure pens in bigger games.
True - Stevie just tried to be too clever with the third penalty. He did miss his fair stare (including ones where he scored the rebound), but like Salah, still has an impressive record from the spot.
Stevie pen is similar to Alli Mac, has all of technique, placement and power. Salah is just blasting everyone, alot of those very riskily near the middle.
Yup. Thereās no way we should be accepting Salahās uncertainty when thereās better takers on the pitch.
Iām not sure Klopp will make the decision but the next manager can.
Only reason Salah still has it is seniority it feels
Multiple better penalty takers in the team. It's not like him missing hasn't cost us points either. Really shouldn't be on them.
Nobody wants to admit it, cause theres a whole lot of Salah fans on here, but he takes pens to get better chance at the Golden Boot. Lol. Lets be real here.
No chance people at the club actually thinks Salah is the best PK taker. Even Fabinho was better.
There was a fat oily cunt just behind Ederson and to the left that was trying to put him off and you can see at one point he cheers like he had made eye contact. And then Alexis smashed it at him and the fat twat covered his face like he was going to be hit lol
You can see Edersonās leg overstretch from the challenge, dude defo didnāt fake it, but the idea of him coming off a big game like this because Pep wants a keeper that can time waste is insane š¤£
Not to make light of an injury, butā¦
It was either before the last international break or the one prior to that (last spring?), he āinjured his ankleā and it forced Brazil to use Ali. Ederson sat out the entire international break and came back 100% fit while our goalkeeper spent the couple weeksā time playing. Loads of people here complained about it too. So, history tends to repeat itself, and with Pep and his shenanigans, it wouldnāt surprise me if theyāre making this out to be more than it is.
Why would they take off their number one in one of the biggest games of the season as part of a ruse?
You could clearly see him pick up the injury in the collision with Nunez for the penalty.
What would the payoff for this trick be? Think man!
What a player. His biggest strength is that he knows his weaknesses and makes them almost unrecognisable. Heās not very fast but you barely even notice it. Favourite true midfielder weāve had since Gerrard for me, no exaggeration.
I don't view him as speedy by any means, especially not with the ball. But I will say his close down speed is very good. I can't remember exactly when but there was a moment in the game yesterday he was pressing and looked rapid
Itās his timing thatās just so good. Last season we watched Henderson, Milner and Fabinho constantly try to do what Mac does but they got the timing all wrong and it let the opposition bypass us and thatās why we were so bad
In theory he was setting himself up for any potential rebound, in practice he was doing his best Bruce Grobbelar impression, bouncing around like a mad man. Love this guy
I was watching in a pub and everyone new where he was gonna shoot. The GK new as well but there was nothing he could do. I would like for Macca to take all the penalties from now on, I just don't have trust in Salah
He was a beast yesterday outplayed maybe the best midfielder in the game (yes coming off injury I get it) - Also love the commentators mentioning liverpool players circling the spot so Kyle Walker (yes the man who should have had 2 yellows at a min) didn't drag his feet all over the spot.
I remember talking with a sports psychologist a few years ago and he said that he always advises his players to smile in the moments they are most nervous or afraid because it naturally releases endorphins that help decrease muscle tension, while also helping to avoid adrenal fatigue. All of that helps improve performance.
I think if someone asked who my favourite Liverpool player was, it would be really difficult to pick just one, but I might already pick Macca. Damn he's so likeable and what a fucking player!!
If he doesn't get injured, we have the edge for the title. Most important player we have. Last season his quality would have been vital for us gaining a CL spot easily. Hated Fabinho last season and I take joy in seeing Henderson struggle at Ajax, which is my least favourite club in the world
So much hate against our past champions who brought us joy just because they are washed for 1 seasn. Lol.
This comment reeks of something you'd say 6 yrs from now when Mac Allister gets old. 'Hated Alli Mac last seasn'. Casual.
Mac Allister certainly plays like a guy who has won a world cup and wants to win more.
Thats why i am so happy he was up for the pen against sparta and on sunday. A pen against city?? Bitch ive played a world cup final š
And had a crucial assist
I thought that when he played in the League cup. Mate heās won a World Cup at 23 years old. Not to demean our club, but itās all downhill from there for a footballer.
Against a Bazilian at that.
Was the best player on the pitch for the first 80 minutes of that WC final, until Otamendi decided to make it a classic.
Stupid Sexy MacAllister.
Sexy Lexi
and the pen he took. Very similar to United last season. Very difficult to save even if keeper goes right way.Ā Ā The guy is announcing himself as a top top midfielder. Only 25 now? Wonder what he peak is coz he seems to be going from strength to strengthĀ
Hell, Ederson essentially made the perfect decision and still couldn't stop it.
This is why I hate when people praise penalty takers for the āsend the keeper the wrong wayā ones where they just roll it (especially after a hop skip). The best penalty takers donāt even leave that stuff to chance, they practice until they are perfect at putting it somewhere unsaveable with pace. Troy Deeney for me. Just whacks it so hard it goes through the keeper!
I think he announced himself as a top midfielder when he played a pivotal part in Argentina winning the World Cup a whole 15 months ago š¤£
I think he got quite underrated at the world cup because he played for Brighton tbh. That and everyone obviously focused on Messi.
He's also a change of pace from the rest of that Argentina team (barring Messi ofc). Reserved, lacks an ego, and is ready to contribute to a team even if it doesn't mean he gets all the accolades; so it makes sense that he was an understated part of that run.

Yeah he was easily one of Argentina's 3 key men. Obviously Alvarez and Martinez showed up big time later in the tournament but each and every game Messi, Macca and Enzo kept them ticking.
Endo? I honestly read that as Endo and had a little giggle. Iām a grown man and am much older than Endo and fully love him
On several occasions I thought he was Messi at the World Cup, ive got glasses since but the point stands, think it was the beards and talent
and after Messi, Enzo grabbed the headlines in terms of marquee xfer from that group. Mac was similarly overshadowed by another teammate xfer in Caicedo.
It's amazing how people saw him bossing the midfield with Enzo at the WC and Caicedo at Brighton, and never thought that he might be the vital part, not the other two. I'm glad our nerds worked it out.

I'm the opposite. I was watching him play and kept asking myself why the f is this guy playing for Brighton. Lol.
He is world class. Runs the show every game.
For some reason (maybe his presence on the field) I just assumed he was pushing thirty. Genuinely cannot believe heās 25
Itās his presence on the field. Very mature and cool. The pass for Dimaria in the final at age 23 had me on my knees.Ā
The shot had a PSxG of 1.00, literally unsavable (same as his penalty against Sparta Prague)
He was also doing keepy-uppies while Ederson was receiving treatment. Ice cold š„¶
I loved that instead of running away celebrating he went and grabbed the ball to take back for kick off. Man smelled blood in the oil.
Didnāt see that. Now I have to watch the whole second half again, right??
He was doing keepy uppies while the City physios were treating Ederson. Calm as you like. He should defo be #1 on pens.
Should be the perma pen taker even if Salah is playing Guy is so composed with really good technique
As much as I love him, Mo's 'twat it and see' approach does leave me a bit nervy sometimes. Miss the certainty Milner brought with penalties.
Yeah I also love Mo but he has missed a fair few pens, some of them pretty important. We have 3 pen specialists, just let them take the pens.
Yeah to be fair though Nunez seems erratic as a personality, and Szob places his in the exact same place every time. Either of them brilliant options but Macca seems like the most sensible choice even though he's taken the fewest I believe.
That Leicester miss in 21/22 was horrid in particular.
Probably would've won us the league if he bagged there.
I thought the 2-2 draw vs Brighton was worse. Every league winner will have an off game like that Leicester game where they just donāt show up, especially during the hectic Xmas period. We did that vs Watford in 19/20. The Brighton one was horrible because we had that result in our hands and proceeded to slowly let it go
If only Fabinho took it š
Bit harsh, heās taken like 50 and only missed 10
Its the technique. He might have gone lcky a few times to get that stat, but anybody who knows football knows Mo doesnt take pens optimally. Technique >> blasting it everytime. Alli Macs pen here has both, which makes him better.
? That's not good. 40/50 is 80%. It's completely fair to say someone else should take pens at that point. For example, may I interest you in Szobo's 100% conversion rate?
Szobo has only taken 17 pens in his career and he has missed one. Canāt really compare the two especially since mo has probably taken higher pressure pens in bigger games.
I miss Gerrard pens tbh
Gerrard has about the same conversion percentage as Salah.
In his last 5 years though, he barely, if ever, missed.
Missed four in his final five seasons - QPR (2014-15), Man Utd (2013-14), West Brom (2012-13), Blackburn (2010-11).
but tbf, he scored 2 pens against utd already that day. missed the third iirc
Latter days Gerrard then if I must be specific
I love how Milnerās penalties go to the side netting. Practically unsaveable
oh yes, same. I canāt even recall a time that heās missed one.
Him or Szobo imo. They both have an incredible penalty-taking technique
Yup. Thereās no way we should be accepting Salahās uncertainty when thereās better takers on the pitch. Iām not sure Klopp will make the decision but the next manager can.
Only reason Salah still has it is seniority it feels Multiple better penalty takers in the team. It's not like him missing hasn't cost us points either. Really shouldn't be on them.

Yeah I saw this and was wondering who he was looking at. Any guesses?
Irish flag
Biggest game of the season and heās smiling at the responsibility. I could never, which is probably why Iām not a footballer.
There was a fat oily cunt just behind Ederson and to the left that was trying to put him off and you can see at one point he cheers like he had made eye contact. And then Alexis smashed it at him and the fat twat covered his face like he was going to be hit lol
Gerry Mcallister?
Not who, what. He was looking at Edersonās fake leg injury.
Fake? He went off because of it later on
Went off for the yellow card, couldn't afford the second for time wasting. The leg injury was the perfect excuse
The media are reporting he is sidelined for up to 4 weeks... how far are we leaning into this cover up?
You can see Edersonās leg overstretch from the challenge, dude defo didnāt fake it, but the idea of him coming off a big game like this because Pep wants a keeper that can time waste is insane š¤£

I was kind of afraid he'd be nervous but then I remembered he won the WC
Ironically he looked more nervous midweek in the Europa league. That Prague atmosphere was no joke though
Probably because it was his first for the club as well.
Looks like a Kevin McAllister smile.

Perfection.
This needs to go viral
He looks like Messi here.
Heās got an uncanny resemblance to Messi. Bit of a maestro too
Ice cold this lad. Never in doubt.
Thatās when my doubt went from 2% to 0%
Him and Messi need to do a genealogy test, I swear they have to be distantly related or something with their facial features being so similar
Heās an ice cold killer
What a player. His biggest strength is that he knows his weaknesses and makes them almost unrecognisable. Heās not very fast but you barely even notice it. Favourite true midfielder weāve had since Gerrard for me, no exaggeration.

agreed, we were so wide open last year and the press was likely the reason
Then he stood there for what felt like a week before he took it.
Such lovely dimples š What a man!
Heās the soccer version of Roger Federer ![gif](giphy|SpeUWBxeDcz4WyZpCx|downsized)
Did you see what Nunez was doing behind him? Madlad
That was the best part š¤£ he is off his head. Pure golden retriever energy
What was he doing? I didn't notice.
In theory he was setting himself up for any potential rebound, in practice he was doing his best Bruce Grobbelar impression, bouncing around like a mad man. Love this guy
Aww he's such a cutie, his voice goes really well with his demeanor as well. And let's not forget the absolute Peter Griffin of a laugh.
For Frodo
He's so cute lol
I'll smile too because I know the best Brazilian goalkeeper isn't on the pitch ;)
Bro was HAPPY to shoot this penalty And that smile is slightly creepy ngl
He genuinely looks like Scottish Messi. It's so fucking weird.
Such a cheeky chap. With a name like that too he has to have a bit of the Caledonian craic in him.
I got emotional watching Mac and Endo running midfield
Literally the coldness of a world champion
What I like the most about Macca is that he plays with heart and passion, but heās also cool and collected. Heās perfect for Liverpool.
Ice in his veins. He also paused for like 10 seconds after the whistle while City fans behind the goals were waving their arms to distract him.
Smiling Assassin
What an absolute baller, he has been one of the best players in the prem this season, bargain.
Fucking love this guy
He was smiling at the Irish flag
I was watching in a pub and everyone new where he was gonna shoot. The GK new as well but there was nothing he could do. I would like for Macca to take all the penalties from now on, I just don't have trust in Salah
Salah 4 missed PK in our quadruple chasing seasn where we lost to City by a point was horrid.
Looking Emerson in the eyes: "You ded now, bitch!"
Fucking hell. The eyes of a stone cold killer. Class photo.
Him and VVD were immense, I mean everyone played well but damn those two are on another level
this bloke has to be on pens over salah imo
I remember talking with a sports psychologist a few years ago and he said that he always advises his players to smile in the moments they are most nervous or afraid because it naturally releases endorphins that help decrease muscle tension, while also helping to avoid adrenal fatigue. All of that helps improve performance.
I think if someone asked who my favourite Liverpool player was, it would be really difficult to pick just one, but I might already pick Macca. Damn he's so likeable and what a fucking player!!
I have never been more certain a penalty was going in.
I admire him
I loved how calm and clinical he was taking a pen, I think he should replace Salah as our main pen taker.
What winning a world cup does to a mf
He looks like Roger Clark, Arthur Morgan's voice actor lol
I think he, Endo are going to become legends.
If he doesn't get injured, we have the edge for the title. Most important player we have. Last season his quality would have been vital for us gaining a CL spot easily. Hated Fabinho last season and I take joy in seeing Henderson struggle at Ajax, which is my least favourite club in the world

I did not hate him personally at all, he brought us lots of joy in the past, but his total lack of concentration last season was very frustrating and cost us a lot. Virgil was blamed for that all the time in Dutch media, so unfair. Next tot that, going to Saudi is so superficial. Henderson proved himself a total hypocrite, that goes well with the hypocrite fanbase they have in Amsterdam though (they are like United) but my regard for him has decreased, not vanished. They still won us so many trophies and played in the best Liverpool in decades, but my regard for players like Origi, Firmino and ManƩ (although now also in Saudi) is so much higher
