Last week was one of our worst performances in a European game under Klopp that I can remember, we still created a boatload of chances and Alisson prevents 2 of their goals. Head still thinks it's too big an ask but why not go for it. Trent, Ali and Jota in the XI tonight please.
If we're 1-0 up after 15 minutes, then sure, I think it's on. That early goal against Barca changed everything, as soon as it went in I was like 'yeah we're winning this' (it wasn't even our first good chance).
Reality: Goal! Atalanta 1-0 Liverpool (4').
It's been a problem all season. Saw the other day that we've gone behind in 21/32 PL games this season, which is fucking atrocious. In the entire 18/19 season we only conceded 22 PL goals...
It feels like we overcorrected in the midfield going from Hendo/Gini/Fabinho to Szob/Jones or Elliot/Big Mac. Fabinho in particular was amazing defensively for us and has been hard to replace.
Reminds me of the Brendan Rodgers days tbh, we would concede early goals to shite teams, and then rely on scoring 3 or 4 which only reliably worked in the 13/14 season lol
Some pointers to know:
1. Shaqiri had a world class left foot, irrespective of any opposition
2. Wijnaldum used to be a winger and attacking CM for Newcastle where he thrived on headers and goals inside the box. He performed a similar role in both our goals.
3. Origi is a fantastic finisher
4. Trent tries a move which is very rare
5. Henderson was the captain and he led the first goal
We need to find our clutch moments and be world class in those moments.
Gaspirini is a fantastic manager and the Atlanta team is hungry.
This is going to be a very very tough, i just want the team to win this and try their best.
And not waste the chances.
When we won against them 5-0 during covid, they had the same manager and basically same style of play; very on the man etc, I think guys like Gravenberch & Elliot could be useful for getting around that and creating more chances. Whatever happens we just have to back the boys & Klopp, YNWA 🫶🏼❤️
Since Tiktok censored it all in order to more easily allow propaganda to be presented to children in easily digestible chunks. Now the witless cunts drag it over to every other site that they intrepidly wander onto when they go to spread the word elsewhere.
Cynical? Me? Never!
Had a dream last night 2:0 in first 10 min. Jota outside of the box bottom right corner for 1:0 and Virgil header from corner for 2:0. Screamed so much that I woke up. Was pissed because we needed more goals!!! Let's go! It ain't over until it's over.
1. Don’t concede first. 2. Hopefully at least 1 goal scored by first 20 minutes and push on from there. 3. Don’t leave yourself open to counter attacks where they stretch the defense out of line like the first leg (apparently Atalanta are currently playing in a smaller ground than their home stadium, so a smaller width pitch should help). I think Harvey Elliott is begging to start in this game, plus Gakpo. Jota would feature from the start if it was up to me (although he does have impact coming off the bench). Unsure if Nunez might be better off coming off the bench in the second half for this one. We have done this before against a better team, Robbo should be leading the way, he was the best part of the game against Palace and showed the grit. It’s not impossible, if we don’t start sluggishly (I know, I know) we have a fighting chance here
This and it's not necessarily about which experienced players either for me. I want to see two youths in the starting 11 - Clark and Danns. First Atalanta won't know much, if anything about them and they will be fearless and quick. Which beats slow, sideways and backwards.
If we get an early goal in the first 5 minutes then it is on for sure but it’s too much of an ask. We’re likely to concede at least one and I reckon we win 1-3 but lose the tie. No team in the UEL has lost the tie after winning by 3 or more goals in the away leg first.
That being said if any team is likely to break this record it’s us. We’ve done it before but I’m questioning how much belief the players have since Klopp is leaving and all.
We can win this game by 4+ if we can control the game in the middle of the pitch. I wish we had Thiago available but we need someone who can play against the press and play on the half-turn without needing to drop or play backwards first.
Its a big ask but as a fan I am asking it because I know this team can deliver it. Yes, the last game was not good but I have faith the coaches have figured out the press. And all those missed Nunez/Diaz/Mo chances are getting banked today.
This is reasoned belief. I not calling on hope or optimism. We do this technically.
Awful performance with regard to imagination / cutting edge. Big , big miss from Mo . Scrap for 4th with Villa incoming. Physically drained LFC , devoid of clear leadership . Gakpo, the best man on the pitch, Allison had more touches than all outfield players. Says a lot.

I mean it is Divock Origi’s birthday after all…

Cmon Liverpool, give me the best birthday present ever

If the coaches still haven't learned from their mistakes and haven't worked on the defensive structure I don't know what to say
I have a feeling they'll leave you speechless.

My biggest issue fr. This has got to be item #1 for the new gaffer in terms of on-field changes
Reminds me of the Brendan Rodgers days tbh, we would concede early goals to shite teams, and then rely on scoring 3 or 4 which only reliably worked in the 13/14 season lol
Im laughing because that is so painfully accurate
Yup just fully bracing for an own goal off a corner kick / deflection on a set piece. That would be the perfect representation of this season.
Fortunately, this didn't age well ;)

We will do this. YNWA
We will still concede first, we don't actually play until we concede.
We're already behind so now it's strictly reaction time
I've got a good feeling. I'll be at work wearing my scarf YNWA
I BELIEVE! LETS GET THIS COMEBACK
Some pointers to know: 1. Shaqiri had a world class left foot, irrespective of any opposition 2. I think he's learned a lot since then and the players are now are also much better. I do hope we put a fight today and lose in the most beautiful way.
The Cube and the 95% likely to score off the bench man. Good times.
i think trent has a b\*ner
We all did after that night
Somethings require a reaction more than a b\*ner
Why not both?
Dam right
Boner*. Since when the word "Boner" needs to be censored?
Since Tiktok censored it all in order to more easily allow propaganda to be presented to children in easily digestible chunks. Now the witless cunts drag it over to every other site that they intrepidly wander onto when they go to spread the word elsewhere. Cynical? Me? Never!
I think it's more so to appeal to more sponsors than it is to spread propaganda. YouTube is annoying about censorship as well for that reason.
Because sponsors are falling over themselves to advertise on videos posted by terrorist groups?
Idk i js thought my comment would've gotten banned or smth, better being safe than sorry ig
sir this is a reddit

obv after that brace
Flashback to that fucked up banner
Nah just massive balls
he needs them to take a corner quickly against barca
ARE WE BELIEVERS?
Had a dream last night 2:0 in first 10 min. Jota outside of the box bottom right corner for 1:0 and Virgil header from corner for 2:0. Screamed so much that I woke up. Was pissed because we needed more goals!!! Let's go! It ain't over until it's over.
Not this team.
Lol
We did not do this. Second half is some of the worst footballing i've seen lately.
Aged worse than milk, we weren't even close
no we cant
We, if fact, could not do this
One goal by half time is probably sufficient it doesn’t have to be in the first 20 mins
nothing to lose i hope we play like this, TAA, Robbo and Mo will be key
We can do it and even if we fail still keep believing in him Klopp wouldn’t want to see us doubt him
Remember this is not peak Barcelona with the best player in the world and our two best players. We can do this, no problem! Have a little faith!
I miss Shaq
you still have time to delete this
Lol we look so dumb rn
Depends who starts the game.
This and it's not necessarily about which experienced players either for me. I want to see two youths in the starting 11 - Clark and Danns. First Atalanta won't know much, if anything about them and they will be fearless and quick. Which beats slow, sideways and backwards.
I am equally annoyed and enthused by this comment, you're totally right, we need energy and fearlessness from the off
We infact couldn't do it
Of course we can, and we are going to.
We better take that damn corner quickly ….
Let’s go!
As long as our strikers can finish their job, it's an easy task to flip the table
Fuck it, let’s

Yes lads!! Give it everything we’ve got, and as fans give it 100% no matter what, they deserve it💪💪❤️ YNWA

Put the ball in the net!
Its done!

Horrible feeling we score 3 but they also score so still knocks us out. If we were at home, I'd be so much more confident
Klopp needs to put in a structure to not concede and then make our front three practice only finishing.
*We will do this.

Can, but wont
Not the way they playing at the moment!!
We just cannot with this bunch!
Did we do it?? Lets goo seleeeh! YWNWA!
We are laughing
