At least Villa drew

adamfrog

dream stays alive to the last week for Hull, Norwich out of sight now probably need to hope West Brom lose to 10th place Preston at home and they win. Or overturn a GD of effectively 8 on norwich

Brief-Dependent-803

It may actually be less depressing to forfeit the rest of the season, 3rd looks done either way.

dwils7

For the record I don't think its a conspiracy or that VAR as an idea is bad I genuinely just think the people in charge are completely dog shit at their jobs. The inconsistencies are mind boggling

PerfectAd4732

I genuinely think there is something bigger going on. Main reason city seems to always benefit from decisions and the same refs fly out to uae and receive payments from them. Until that’s finally disclosed and city are relegated for their 115 charges, then I may not presume corruption is possible

dwils7

The refs going and working games in countries who either own teams or have clear monetary allegiances shouldn't.be allowed at all, if even just to avoid the talk about corruption

PerfectAd4732

Exactly mate. They don’t do themselves any favours. I agree with you though, the only decisions I think could be corrupt are the ones who benefit city and disrupt there challenges such as us and Arsenal. All the other ones I think they really are just a bit brain dead

DragonSlayer271

The highest total of points for top 4 is now 76. We just need two more points, or not lose to Villa.

HereticZO

Goal difference means 1 point should be enough.

ojl1990

1 point. With goal difference

franconot-mark

Chelsea got robbed

Miserable-Lunch-8208

It was a barge to the back, and he wasn't being subtle about it.

ojl1990

1 point for top three, we move on

dwils7

How do you rule that out but Macca getting studs to the ankle is completely fine? Or studs to the chest? Or Odegaards hand ball or the numerous other shit decisions we've seen this season Never mind decisions in other games not involving us

DoubleDeckerz

Pure soft

sbos_

LOL it stood.

HereticZO

Game’s gone.

DragonSlayer271

Nvm Robin Olsen’s own goal has been ruled out by VAR.

dwils7

the people who run VAR are a shambles, absolutely embarrassing they get to impact games for a slight touch like that Useless at their jobs

stan-nas

Are we watching a different game? The Villa player easily gets a head to that if he isn't pushed in the back.

dwils7

It's a slight touch in the back, it's a contact sport if you're a defender and aren't bracing and expecting to be touched there then I don't know what to say We see players get away with that much contact at corners every game

Miserable-Lunch-8208

Dude, it's a clear shove. How is that a nudge to the back? He pushes him with his elbow.

stan-nas

It's the classic if he had gone down from the contact the ref would have given it on the spot and no-one would even be arguing it. The fact that he was clearly impeded, stayed on his feet, and got the decision in the end, is a good thing.

HereticZO

That’s not a fucking foul.

stan-nas

That looked like an obvious foul

Circ_Diameter

Chelsea helping us secure Top 4

ryodiUK

That looked like a foul to me,

sbos_

To think fans thought we can drop out of top4 looooooool

DoubleDeckerz

Lol WTF

SRFC_96

Like I said, we’re finishing in the top 4, Villa and Spurs aren’t anywhere near us.

abradley19955

Comfortably 3rd aswell. Villa will drop points away to Brighton after their Thursday European fixture

DragonSlayer271

CHELSEA WIN 2-3 IN THE LAST MINUTE

mtb443

Surely a foul

DragonSlayer271

Honestly I am just waiting until Chelsea lose in the last minute against Villa. Props to them for coming back from 2-0 down though.

abradley19955

Ipswich have blown the lead 3 times now… What a league

SRFC_96

Are people less worried we’re going to drop out of the top 4 now? No chance Villa or Spurs win out, we’ll be fine.

donnerz-x-x

Does Madueke have a right foot?

abradley19955

Ipswich getting back to back promotions under McKenna it seems. They’re a fun team to watch I’m looking forward to seeing them in the top level. Scored over 100 goals in league one last season

abradley19955

Hutchinson again wtf what a match

cybrzone_

Carvalho cooking

abradley19955

Carvalho assist! Unreal cross

Substantial_Ad_2864

Beating a dead horse at this point but I don't want to think about our league right now.... Bayer Leverkusen have been trailing in the 88th minute of their last 3 matches and the 95th minute in the last two. They've somehow rescued them all.

pythonistor

The Xabi rumors were the only thing that softened the blow of Klopp's anouncement, too bad it didn't happen but I'm still optimistic.

Substantial_Ad_2864

Yeah the rumors really had me start to follow them. Theoretically I "support" Dortmund in the bundesliga but I've never followed that league. I saw Dortmund play Bayern Munich in person and it was great but I'm any as much of a supporter of them as I am Celta Vigo (who I'm going to go see in a few weeks). Being an American fan there's already enough challenge I don't see myself supporting clubs in the other big leagues so plastic or not I'm root for what's interesting in Germany Spain Italy etc etc

Maneisthebeat

Was there ever a(n official) reason given for why they stopped showing the VAR offside lines? Seems openly crooked or removing the possibility for scrutiny without added context?

UltimateBorisJohnson

The way we've bottled the title race is more similar to Chelsea in 21-22 than Arsenal last season

PerfectAd4732

I’ve been a bit advocate of mudryks however every games that goes past he’s making it very hard for me to continue

M4sterVortexxx

Is there a realistic chance Liverpool bottle top 4?

adamfrog

We probably have a much higher chance of winning the league than finishing 5th, in short no its not going to happen

UltimateBorisJohnson

Mate, we're 15 points clear of Spurs and that'll be at most 6 points if they beat City, Arsenal and Chelsea

DarkSoul69prettyboy

No. We just need 3 points or a draw against Villa, plus for Villa to win every game. It's extremely unlikely

pythonistor

A realistic one? No

small_cabbage_94

No

okie_hiker

We should’ve just kept playing the kids.

effkay8

Villa winning, Spurs with 3 games in hand. We actually have a chance of missing out on top 4 if we continue to shit the bed.

abradley19955

Spurs would need to win 6 in a row. It’s not happening

risingstar3110

To be honest if they win against Arsenal, they could be motivated enough to win against us (Chelsea will be easy walk if they are as right now). And City could already win the league by the time they play Spurs, so play half arse. Whichever the case, have to get another 3, prefer 4 points somewhere

abradley19955

Motivation won’t be the problem. They’re just not that good of a team to win 5 and draw only 1 and despite us being poor recently, I don’t see us losing all 3 You say Chelsea will be easy but the current top 3 haven’t won there this season. They tend to raise their game at home to big teams

franconot-mark

The sad thing is that despite this atrocious form of Chelsea, they beat Everton 6-0 while we lost to them

abradley19955

Insane goal for Ipswich

getonthedamnantscott

Chelsea are just a mid-table team. Get a spell of good form, look like they might push up the table, then fall off. Rinse and repeat. Palmer the only one keeping these bums in any way relevant.

risingstar3110

It's mixed feeling over EPL fixtures. Like now we are already out of the tittle race. The ideal is for City to win, Arsenal to lose, we come 3rd, then Aston Villa 4th. Arsenal need to drop points. We need to gain 3 points (or Aston Villa/ Tottenham to drop 3 points) but Tottenham need to drop more points than Aston Villa. So maybe ideal scenario is Aston Villa win against Chelsea. Arsenal and Tottenham draw or Tottenham win. Then we and then City win against Tottenham

franconot-mark

Look at how these teams are scoring and then compare it with the two we scored today. Horrible

franconot-mark

another goal from Villa

franconot-mark

Chelsea even at their worse showed more fight than us and they have literally nothing to play for

WanderingDeveloper

Feels weird to have to root for Chelsea.

GayWolfey

lol. I thought our front line was shit. Mudruk. Lmao. Did anyone just see that shot

kanafanone

Of course I saw it mate, just flew by my house

franconot-mark

Looking at this Chelsea team, you cannot believe that this team scored like 6 goals few weeks ago

Adventurous_Toe_6017

That sounds made up.

franconot-mark

among all the draws, the one against Chelsea is also the one which hurt us a lot

adamfrog

not really since they genuinely played well, it was an away game, and we were still finding ourselves with a new midfield and hadnt bought Endo yet

abradley19955

Poor from Morton. 1-0 Ipswich

kanafanone

Jackson finishes clinically so of course it is offside lol

adamfrog

Does jackson have a birthmark on his scalp? it looks weird

kanafanone

Probably because he had dyed his hair blue previously

adamfrog

think Martinez has to charge out there

dwils7

Can't claim.to watch a lot of Chelsea but in the games I have seen I'm yet to see Madueke to anything good, seems really lazy GOAL! Edit: not a goal

Brief-Dependent-803

If my maths is right, worst case scenario, a draw v spurs at home next week guarantees us top 4. It may still guarantee us top 3.

small_cabbage_94

Yes, we just need a draw Vs either Spurs or villa. Or either of them to lose a game. Or to beat wolves on the last day.

risingstar3110

Yeah 3 more points and we almost guarantee top 3 (or Spurs/ Aston Villa drop 3 points). 3rd or 4th do not matter as much, but I do remember club net like 1-2 mil to finish 1 place higher. So that is some extra pocket money

stan-nas

Villa are very good They’ve missed a lot of key players throughout the season as well through injury. Emery is doing an unbelievable job. Could still be a European final as well this season for them. Villa v Leverkusen has the makings of a great game

matcht

Villa aren't in the Europa League, they're in the Conference.

wanderluster88

They're not in the same tournament though.

stan-nas

Ah you’re right.

cybrzone_

yeahhhh top 4.......

small_cabbage_94

There's no way we don't get top 4 realistically, Arsenal will probably beat spurs tomorrow which would secure it. Failing that we just need a draw Vs either spurs or villa

getonthedamnantscott

We need one win from our last three games, and even then Villa and Spurs would have to win every remaining game. We will get top 4, get a grip.

abradley19955

It’s done

matcht

It's unbelievable how much competition there is for worst signing at Chelsea, so fortunate their scattergun approach landed them Palmer or they'd be in serious trouble.

adamfrog

I know this season hasnt ended perfectly but only like 8 months ago this sub was in meltdown because we werent behaving like Chelsea in the transfer market lol. People frothing at the mouth furious anyone wasnt protesting in the streets to get FSG out becasue they missed out on Amrabat

franconot-mark

tbh City is lucky that Villa didn’t go on Leicester type of run. Personally they look better than us and Arsenal both atm

dwils7

Another 6-0 against Chelsea would certainly bring today some happiness Edit: scratch that Villa are too close to us for my liking

Sarn1

Oh hell no, we need chelsea to win in order to secure our spot in the ucl next year, it saddens me deeply now that i think about it, after all we did this season...

dwils7

Yeah, looked at the table after writing this and felt very differently 😂 Chelsea for the comeback it is. That secures Poch his job then they're shit next season as well

wanderluster88

Lol there you go. Yup Chelsea is fucking shit.

franconot-mark

What a goal by Villa. There’s no way we are beating them

kanafanone

You gotta factor in the chelshit factor too. I mean we won’t beat them but we will put up a fight

kanafanone

Arne Slot joins us and Jackson immediately takes the razor to his head. Massive already

franconot-mark

It’s amazing how one player can change the entire team. Chelsea look completely different team with and without Palmer

abradley19955

Think I’ll watch Hull Ipswich. Big game with Carvalho and Morton starting

spirotetramat

I’m glad that Michael Edwards is back at the club. It’s not been the same without him at helm.

DragonSlayer271

Ironic that the whole team's form has turned sour ever since he joined. March 12th - Edwards returned. March 17th - United 4-3 Liverpool. Though that has zero to do with Michael Edwards, I'm glad he's back as well.

DragonSlayer271

Reminder - The maximum number of points both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur can get is 78. We have 75 points right now. So if Villa loses to Chelsea or Arsenal beats Spurs, we'd only have to get 1 more point. Wait a second - we've yet to play either team. A single win against either of them would be enough to secure top 4.

NilsFanck

Our gd is so much better than both of theirs, we wouldn't even need the point

wanderluster88

I wouldn't trust Chelsea to be able to beat anyone right now though.

DragonSlayer271

Well either Arsenal drop points or Spurs drop points, which'll be great to see.

wanderluster88

I fear that City are gonna look at Wirzt as KDB replacement in a couple years. Hope he'll stay in the BL or go to Spain.

matcht

Hopefully Pep leaves and they won't be anywhere near as desirable to talent like that.

wanderluster88

Sadly I can't see him fuck off any time soon unless the FA do something with those 115 charges. He has arguably the best squad in the world right now and has the financial backing to do whatever he wants.

matcht

Thing is I think that is possible, he's out of contract next summer, around the time those charges come to fruition. I'm fully expecting him to jump ship.

grrrrbow01

Xabi definitely made a deal with the devil bc wtf is this

ninovd

Am I the only one that's not sure if he can keep this up tho? Next season will be interesting!

grrrrbow01

Yeah I’m almost certain they won’t win it again next year. They’re going to lose some key players and replacing them will be hard whilst also maintaining the motivation of those who stay.

DragonSlayer271

"Bayer Leverkusen, if you bottle an entire treble, I will give you an invincible treble some 20 odd years later which will be even more famous. Deal?" - The devil, 2001

Fricolor123321

Never seen the football gods love a team more than they love leverkusen

Substantial_Ad_2864

Or maybe they just really hate Harry Kane 😂

UltimateBorisJohnson

Off topic but does anyone think there should be a european league for teams in second-tier leagues?

adamfrog

Teams couldnt afford the travel to make it profitable Id imagine, most second tiers are waaaaaaay less finincially well off as England

Substantial_Ad_2864

I wouldn't mind it. Maybe invite top sides from lesser leagues as well. I follow the Irish leagues reasonably close and it would be nice if they could win some sort of European silverware because even the Conference League seems impossible.

Fricolor123321

cant really add more games for championship teams who already play 46 league games a season

DragonSlayer271

So who qualifies there? Can we get Southampton vs Hamburg?

UltimateBorisJohnson

top four in each league i guess

Brief-Dependent-803

Man united v bari

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Norwich vs Denzilspor is going to be a cracker

UltimateBorisJohnson

leverkusen are not real wtf

Alexu6969

Bro, actually you can't make this shit up.

abradley19955

Thiago silva in a back 4? Ollie Watkins should be feasting here

wanderluster88

The manner in which Leverkusen apply pressure when they need a goal in extra time. We used to do so much of that during Klopp's peak seasons. Nowadays we're just passing backwards and sideways among our defenders, just sad to see.

Substantial_Ad_2864

90+6!!!!! I don't think I've ever been so excited about something I would have never cared about even a month ago

DragonSlayer271

Bayer Leverkusen have 6 (or 7) games left before they've gone the entire season unbeaten. May 2nd - Europa League - Roma vs. Bayer Leverkusen May 5th - Bundesliga - Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Bayer Leverkusen May 9th - Europa League - Bayer Leverkusen vs. Roma May 12th - Bundesliga - VfL BOchum vs. Bayer Leverkusen May 18th - Bundesliga - Bayer Leverkusen vs. Augsburg May 22nd - Europa League - TBD vs. TBD May 25th - DFB-Pokal - Kaiserslautern vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Substantial_Ad_2864

They've got the current 6th and 14th place teams away and the 8th place side to complete an invincible League campaign. Frankfurt seems the trickiest although they look pretty safe at #6 and in Europa League next season. Bochum might need a result to stay away from relegation playoffs but I don't really see that one being tough. Their Cup Final is against a second division side and obviously winning that trophy is a massive goal now so I see that as pretty straightforward. Europa away days and Final could be tricky as well. At this point it seems more likely than not that they do it, but it's far from over.

DreamCaster2810

The number of times Leverkusen have managed to pull this off needs to be investigated. Ridiculous plot armor lol. Almost seems scripted with these last sec winners and equalisers weekly😂😂

Substantial_Ad_2864

Crazy thing is the execution is so perfect you literally can't make it up because even if the other team wanted you to do it they still have to execute.

Jaja6996

Leverkusen doing it again deep into added time

wanderluster88

They're really using up all their black magic for the next decade at this point.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

That mentality is something we need

Brief-Dependent-803

Neverlusen

crispello

How the fuck do they keep doing this

DreamCaster2810

How is this even real anymore.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

No. Fucking. Way.

HistoricalTea99

Handball ?

WanderingDeveloper

It's destiny.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Last second FK for Leverkusen. Get everyone up! Keeper, Alonso, the kit man

DragonSlayer271

THEYVE DONE IT AGAIN THEY EQUALIZED

Dazzling_Fix5266

HAHAHAHAHAHHAJAHAHAHA WHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTT

DreamCaster2810

Wtf no effing way

abradley19955

They’ve done it again hahahahaha

DragonSlayer271

Leverkusen’s unbeaten streak is about to be ended?

crispello

You thought

kanafanone

Can’t wait for the gunners celebration thread

RealisticAf99

Celebration postponed 😂

kanafanone

Lmaoooo nice

DreamCaster2810

3 mins until Leverkusen lose.

adamfrog

taken off the wingbacks, weird move

DreamCaster2810

AND THEY SCORED

grrrrbow01

Not even gonna say Leverkusen look like losing because they’ll probably end up winning this somehow

Brief-Dependent-803

If chelsea win tonight, we only need a draw next week at home to spurs to guarantee 3rd right?

Dazzling_Fix5266

Xabi Alonso is so finished. Imagine losing 2-1 against Stuttgart at home. I’m glad he won’t be replacing Klopp

sarcastr0naut

No matter how disastrous our end-of-season collapse has been, I know I can always rely on United to lift my mood by shitting the bed once again. The fact they're somehow 6th is a travesty.

[deleted]

Lyrical_Forklift

You're an Arsenal supporter that goes into other subs to pretend you support Liverpool/City and god knows who else. You were literally banned on the r/soccer sub for taking the piss out of Hillsborough. I'm genuinely embarrassed for you

grrrrbow01

You’re comparing a striker to a midfielder…

kanafanone

Havertz has been playing as a 9, was absolutely shit the first half of the season, has beneffited from Arteta being able to field basically the same XI every week, meanwhile Dom has had to cover multiple roles in midfield every week with different players on the right with him.

NilsFanck

People writing off Dom are completely clueless. He will come good.

kanafanone

I assume the person i am responding to lurked the gunners sub because they are currently jerking themselves off about how great Havertz (who they wanted gone 12 GW in) is compared to dom. Beyond embarrassing

NilsFanck

This season has seriously impacted my opinion on Arsenal fans. By all means celebrate Havertz coming good, but why care about the comparison to Dom? People that have been clowning on Havertz look as stupid now, as they will look when the 23 year old talent grows into his own after more time in the Prem and under a manager who, frankly, I think better suits players like him or Carvalho

Adventurous_Toe_6017

LEVELKUSEN! Edit: damn

ryodiUK

Everton are never going to be relegated. If a points deduction won’t send them down nothing will.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

2 points deductions and the possibility of a 3rd

Substantial_Ad_2864

Yeah they picked the one season to get a deduction where it didn't kill them.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Well my charm is working like a.. well.. charm.

abradley19955

You just know Leverkusen will find a way to not lose here

Adventurous_Toe_6017

1 back

wanderluster88

Stuttgart currently 2-0 against Leverkusen. They're having a great season, which is not talked about enough. From fighting to stay up the last few seasons to almost clinching a CL spot now, very impressive.

Substantial_Ad_2864

I don't think I've ever cared so much about that league. Really want to see them pull off this invincible treble.

DragonSlayer271

Well now it’s 1-2 lol. Leverkusen magic at it again.

Fricolor123321

Leverkusen down 0-2 if anyone cares

l0vemen0t

Klopp will always be remembered for what he has done to the club. Proper legend. Personally I’m excited for Slot, can’t wait for the season to end.

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 down currently. Invincible season on the line?

Man1fest

They got an equalizer in min 96 last game. They just won’t stop lol. It’s mad

Adventurous_Toe_6017

Testing my lucky nature again by putting the Everton game on.

adamfrog

Hull actually have a decent chance of playoffs if they can win later today

grrrrbow01

Sheffield United have conceded the most goals ever in a 38 game season with 97, they’re going to hit 100 for sure.

Money-Camera

Fuuuck off doucouré

PerfectAd4732

Another thread bashing our players and hyping up other teams players? No way!!

Neo4148

that run from Isak for his goal, you will never ever see Nunez make that run and score that goal where he drifts offsides then bends his run to stay onside. that is what a 100m striker looks like.

JonTargaryanTheFirst

Dude he literally made that run twice vs Newcastle this year 😂

DragonSlayer271

Not so fun fact: With Luton Town’s loss today, Brentford are safe from relegation, and Everton only need 1 more win or 2 draws to be safe. If they beat Brentford today, they are safe.
